I keep the bobbins intact by using the cloth ponytail holders, then I put the bobbin(s) with the same colored thread in a Snack bag so it's all together. Can become a big collection of baggies, but I don't have such a big collection of thread.

You can go to a dollar store and get a couple hundred for a buck.

What about a donut that has slots every half inch so to anchor the thread end. Or...........???? Why are quilters reinventing the wheel in this day and age. I'm on my third idea (purchase/jerry-rigged) and am still not really happy.

Unlike most quilters (joke) I want a simple, easy to use, secure (both bobbin itself and its "tail") and I want to be able to see the EXACT color without doing this or that. I want to quilt! Why doesn't some gadgetty person make, market and sell a GOOD bobbin holder????????

I use those too. But, I went into a dollar store (first time ever being in one) to see if they had any and right up front by the checkout was a bag of 100 for, you got it, $1.00!!! So I shared some with my SIL and still have more than I'll ever use. They're great!

I usually secure the thread in the snap end of the spool that doesn't have the thread number on it. But if it breaks off I use tape that I got at a drugstore in the gauze and Ace bandage section that sticks to itself, cut a piece off & wrap it around the spool. I cut just a thin strip so I can still see the color of the thread. I don't tuck the thread in the snap end with the thread number on it 'cause I don't want it to break off and then not know the number. Sulky's spools are quite a bit flimsier than the other brands I use.

I use these, purple for cotton and red for poly-cotton, so I can mix them up. I tend to call them bobbin doughnuts.

I use these too. I use a different one for each machine. I sometimes sew at a friends house for a dog rescue and I can just grab the ring that goes with the machine and take off. They hold bobbins nice and tight.
