Mine says "toss me, toss me since you don't care for scrappy quilts". So true but I still have to save them since you just never know when you might some of it.
Mine is saying that I don't sew fast enough, or nearly often enough. I keep meaning to use my scraps, honest I do! But there is always a pattern that I want to make that isn't scrappy.....
ROFL, earthwalker, you've seen my colour pallet, "mad as a box of frogs" is a perfect description. May I borrow that to name my sewing room?
My scraps say I just never got over having to share that big box of crayons because I can't resist using them all (except grey). And that I should offer day trips for some obsessively organized quilters to come and play in my chaos. |
My family would say I need counseling LOL But I would say my scraps and stash say I'm a happy and cheery person. I always see the silver lining in all the dark clouds.
mine says A DOGS BREAKFAST! lol need to get organized! {that will never happen} having too much fun
Gale |
my modest but newly organized scrap bins might tell you that I am a careful quilter, I don't buy much fabric unless it is for a quilt I am working on... bright fun fabrics... not keen on browns or dark prints.
I am looking forward to trying a string quilt... if I can come up with enough scraps. |
Mine say that my friends have figured out that I will use the scraps that they won't, so they pass them on to me for charity quilts! LOL! So, my scraps don't really reflect my tastes, but they do reflect my heart, and that's what is important! :)
I would have to say that my scrap hoard says I am whimsical and eclectic. Love warm, cozy colors or bright, sunny florals, smaller prints and nothing at all in the way of batiks!
I tend to lean more toward blues and cream or off white. I hoard fat quarters of almost all colors and just tell myself that someday I'll make something out of them. So far I must believe me...they are still here!!!
My scraps say I like a little of everything. I probably have more bright colors, but I also have a nice variety of calm colors. My scraps also say I like things neat and tidy and organized because they are all in neatly labeled bins of a variety of strips and squares.
Mine says I have made lots of quilts. Which I have, make at least 12 per year. I have lots of colors and lots of florals and prints. I love almost all colors and love florals and girly colors. I use lots of browns, greens, golds and tans.
I have made lots of scrappy quilts and decided I really like them. I consider all colors and prints, florals go together just like flowers in a garden. |
My scraps say I'm impulsive! I see it. I like it. I buy it! and so it goes.
My scraps say I like light, cheerful colors. That's a result of living in Seattle for 18+ years. Not fond of browns or greens. Mom said green is a restful color. I guess she needed rest. The car was green, the inside of the house was painted green, the outside was green. So my colors in quilts reflect that I like cheerful colors...brights are good!
My scraps say that I don't save the little bitty pieces, I love the any shade of the color blue and I don't discriminate between prints or solids.
I am a hoarder, I love Batiks - especially the purple family. I like civil war fabrics almost as much as Batiks and florals next. I tend to make traditional blocks, but like to applique a little too. I am obsessed with scrap quilts, but my scraps jus grow and grow. All in all I love scraps.
my stash is very colorfull with lots of prints for babies, but very disorgenist.and that I am a horder.just dont get anuff time to sew. love this thread.
My scraps tell me that I am a classic. I love traditional colors and patterns. I have nearly no modern prints or colors. I have black background, florals, reds, purples, greens, browns, blues, too many pinks and lots of white on white but no turquoise/brown/mustard yellow or gray/yellow prints. I leave those to others. I have a number of long lengths of large floral prints that I inherited and I never use. Just need to jump out there and use them for backing I guess.
I love the peacock colors and often use purple as a sashing. I am almost exclusively a scrappy quilter so I can be oh, so traditional then toss in a little of those gem tones for "pop"! |
HmmmmmHmmmm...interesting! It would seem that greens and blues are most prevalent among my scraps followed closely by neutrals like camel, tan, off white, white, various shades of brown, greys with a distinct absence of black. Also noted, a reasonable showing of yellows, oranges and pinks with a visible omission of reds. Yet, all together there is a brightness in shades and pleasing to the eye. I, also, observed there to be plaids, small prints, checks, small florals......again...HmmmmmHmmmm.....interesting. So.....someone else will have to analyze what that says about me.
Most of my scraps get cut into small squares to make 3" pinwheels. I looked into my plastic shoe box and anything goes. Lots of traditional small florals, brights, solids and tone on tone. Gray is starting to show up and that's new for me. But most of all, my scrap box says I never turn down scraps.
My scraps drawer says two things about me.
1) I have a different definition of 'scraps' than most folk, 2) I have selective memory! For me, anything bigger than 2.5 inch square is NOT a scrap - it's a 'hexie-in-waiting'. And I discovered when I was pulling strings this week for the mystery train ride, that I have the most quantity and variety in black colours, but I can't remember including black in any quilts! I must have tho, cos I recognise all the fabrics...... :D |

my scraps also say I'm a hoarder...I don't make a lot of my own "scraps", my friends give me theirs! I do use them, but just sometimes not fast enough. I do have a couple of bins of smaller than yard pieces. I haven't touched them other than pulling some pinks for BHunters mystery. I very much prefer to use strings and crumbs- would probably part with some of the "stash" or have a quilting party, invite my bestie friends and give them a chance to take some! Point is, most of them have more than I do to start with!!!!!! IF and when I retire, I will be glad I have a stash, I dream of just playing with fabrics and doing my thing--making a pile for any grands I might someday have?
Mine tell me I love color, birds, flowers and butterfly's. That I buy way to much fabric and I can never use all that I have but I am so afraid to throw any away because that may be just what I need later. That I am a hoarder of fabric. But I do love it all.
I would say that my stash, and therefore my scraps range from blues, greens, purples, florals, batiks in just about every color, children's fabrics, etc., etc., in other words, a little bit of everything. I guess it depends on the mood I'm in and what the fabric originally said to me to buy it.

Looking at my scraps, I see an out of control, stressed woman that needs to slow down and take care of herself for 2015. The scraps are saying: Play, Carol.
Hoarder of scraps here! All types. Some of mine, some from friends, some from the guild. I recently gave away 2 trash bags and still have angst over it. I see scraps as money and tossing it into garbage is like throwing money away. I used to calculate the number of hours I had to work to buy something I wanted. It really taught me about spending money. I usually buy what I want now that I am retired but can't seem to let go of scraps. Maybe, I'm a conservative hoarder of all scraps?
Mine says use what you need and donate the rest to guild.

My husband makes me see RED, so I buy alot of it, for me its a happy color! Looking at my scraps i can tell when I used to be in a floral period, then came the 30's-50's period and now in the civil war period. With a lot more mixed in between! Love scrappie!
