Yellow Brick Road. goes fast.. looks great..

I just made a couple of Downy quilts. the pattern provided was focus fabric squares alternating with 4-patches in matching colors to the focus fabric. They went together so quickly and looked so good. I'm going to make more baby quilts using this pattern. It is very satisfying to make something easy that looks so good.

Regular 'ole scrappy patchwork. Just large squares of different fabrics sewn together... then tied in the center of each square (rather than quilted).

Scrappy strips on foundations worked up really quick for me  |

One of the first quilts I ever did was by Terry Atkinson Designs called Yellow Brick Road. Sooo easy and the piecing went together like a glove!

I took 2 fabrics, one floral and one solid with matching colors, layered them right sides together cut them the same size (I think 3 maybe 3 1/2 inches square) and alternated the pieces as I sewed. Just cut then sewed pieces until it was wide enough then went on to the next row and did the same only starting with the opposite solid or floral for each row. I guess it could be called a 1 patch, I finished the border and bound it with the leftovers.
Turned into a really cute throw. Was easy and mindless when I wanted something simple to work on. The best part I could lay it aside for days or weeks at a time and didn't have to do a lot of thinking of "where was I?" when I went back to it. Longarm |
Yellow Brick Road ... without a doubt!
