I made a quilt for every member of my immediate family starting in June of this year--that's four bed-sized quilts. Two are finished. I'm finishing the binding on the third, then I'll need to do the binding on the fourth. Oh yes, and a wall-hanging for my girlfriend. (I'm hopelessly addicted.)

I can't hand sew for very long--I have to pace myself because I have arthritis. So, I allow myself two lengths of thread per day, and then I have to stop. THEN, I go into my sewing room and work on my next quilt--this one is for ME!

I'm ragging two flannels!! Almost done with one!

I LOVE your scrappy quilt. I love to make scrappy quilts probably because I have a lot of stash! Right now I'm binding 4 t shirt quilts for Christmas. Better get going, Christmas will be here before I know it and I still have 12 "gifts in a jar" to do. :-D

Happy Holidays!

Ouch! I hate it when that happens!

I am finishing up a quilt for my sister. Just a little more hand quilting and then the binding. Cutting it close for Christmas, but it should be done.

Mailed off two quilts as gifts today. Just finished 12 of these folded star potholder/trivets for coworkers gifts. Now I'm going kick back and take a breather until after Christmas.

Wow hulahoop, those are pretty darn snazzy! I would have to hand those on my wall rather then let anyone use them. Did you get mine in the mail? I'm certain I'm on your Christmas list.

Sorry, sweetie. They're all spoken for, but I'm glad you like them!

krazy4quilts 12-15-2009 12:42 PM

Buying 6 yrds of fabric for my best friend and mailing to her. She is lucky lucky they still had it in stock and it wasn't bad at the post office. :) She also happens to be the OP. Oh and I had to buy up some more fabric they are in the washer now(I know some do some don't, that is how I learned so its habit). Going to finish up on my butterfly's while the washer and dryer are going.

Darn, I was sure I was on your Christmas list!

What pattern did you use, or did you make your own up? I imagine I could draft it out, but I've been working at such a feverish pace to try and get everything done for Christmas that the thought of drafting makes me want to crawl back in bed and take a nap.

Nope, I cheated. Found the tutorial on the internet. But I also posted it in the tutorial section of this Board so you can find it there.

Tiffany 12-15-2009 06:38 PM

Thank you! I will definitely have to look it up.

I REALLY like the border that you have done. I think a scrappy border would have been too busy, and would have taken away from the quilt top itself.

Jim's Gem 12-16-2009 09:28 AM

Looks great luvfabric!!!

I think I am going to try and make a couple of aprons for my 3 girls. I had DH haul my bucket of Christmas fabrics into the house for me, I have several spread on my sewing table. I just hope I can cut them without too much pain/discomfort. I also borrowed a book on pot holders from a good friend and I may see what I can do with those. I havn't been able to do much of any Christmas shopping and was starting to feel like I should have made something for the kids for Christmas.
Wish me luck!!!

Tiffany 12-16-2009 12:30 PM

I think a scrappy border would have been great, the kind where you use 2-4 different fabrics and that is all. However, the plain border doesn't look bad. To me it makes the middle of the quilt seem small, but I think once it is quilted and bound it will look great and your mom is going to treasure it, which is what really counts.

Ok, I know this an old post, but I am just about to bust.

Had to let you all know I checked my GPA and grades since they were posted and instead of two B+'s and an A I got two A's and a B+!!! Woohoo!!!

Never had a GPA above 3.0 and shows at a 3.66.
I am ecstatic. Now to keep it up the next three semesters.

Ok, now I will go to church and give credit where credit is due.

If I were 20 years younger, I think I would skip the 4 miles to church!

May in Jersey 12-27-2009 07:36 AM

Not working on anything today. Ran 4" short of the fabric I was using to bind a table runner that was supposed to be given as a gift on Christmas Day. That's what happends when you leave the sewing til the last mintue. I was going for a quick binding, sew on in back, machine zig zag down in front. Sewed binding on long sides of runner before I realized I didn't have enough for both short sides. Tried to be figure out a way to bind sides without having to removed binding that's already sewn down. Nothing in my stash is working so I'll take a quick run to Joanns to see if I can find a compatable fabric. Hate to have to remove what I've already sewn down and use a new fabric for the entire binding. Off I go to Joanns. May in Jersey

First I HAVE to drag out the vac. :( Next will be shovelling out a vehicle, (together with DH), then comes the fun part of the day...finishing pinning a quilt and maybe even start quilting it. We won't make it to church today ....too much shovelling to be done before we can go anywhere.

May in Jersey 12-27-2009 09:09 AM

Pzazz, So glad we're not digging out today. We were very lucky as it rained hard all day yesterday but it was warm so we didn't get more snow. In fact, the warm rain washed away the 8-10" of snow that we received last weekend. May in Jersey

LindaR 12-27-2009 09:13 AM

Today Sunday the 27th I am getting some hand projects ready to do while my visiting GS take over the sewing room to sleep....I'm finishing up borders and bindings and a doll quilt to go out next month...

We got mostly rain with a quite a bit of sleet and freezing rain mixed in but no snow really to speak of which is strange since this IS Wisconsin. I am working on a sampler quilt as well as getting the border done for my DH's quilt so I can start the hand sewing :)

This sounds interesting. Is there a tute on here somewhere?

Nope, they're in the test market phase and when I'm sure they're right, I'll be happy to let you know where you can get some.

ghostrider 12-27-2009 12:26 PM

I don't think you'll be disappointed, Loretta. Just keep them away from cats. Mine are sure they were made just for them!! Should be in the mail by New Year's.

fireworkslover 12-27-2009 03:18 PM

I'm in the middle of a One Block Wonder, that I'm making for good friends' cabin in northern MN. Four fabrics prints that have things in common with their activities: deer heads, fish, loons on water and evergreen needles. I need to make a bunch more blocks and then rearrange them until I really like it. I also have reverseable placemats to make with Christmas or Fall prints on one side and fruit or vegie prints on the other. I'm also in the middle of a Challenge Quilt for a fireworks organization I belong to. The deadline for it's completion is next August. I'm still not totally sure this is the pattern I want to use for this year's entry. Then there's the other side of the duvet cover to make, once I decide what pattern to use. Then sew it all together so I can put the down comforter inside and use it! I think that's about it for now. Ha Ha - when will I get all that done?

Cyndi H 12-27-2009 05:19 PM

I just now FINISHED the top for Harmony Quilts BOM. Well, at least the blocks part - I still need to add a border or two. But this was so frustrating due to the poor quality of the directions and the numerous errors in the cutting directions. I also found several errors in the assembly instructions. What a mess - and I"m glad I had lots of extra background fabric since so much was wasted due to the errors.

Pam B 12-27-2009 07:28 PM

I did absolutely NOTHING today. I bought fabric yesterday to make 3 aprons (and I will need them finished for Jan 2 Xmas with my side of the family) and had good intentions of at least getting them cut out today. Sorry to say, it did not happen. I went to church, fixed dinner at home, took a nap, watched some football, took another nap, read some in a novel, and watched some more TV. Yep...I have been a couch potato all day. :( I am off school all this week so I will sew tomorrow.

amma 12-27-2009 08:06 PM

I am going to be sewing with my DGS for the first time this week :D:D:D They are 6,6, and 4. Old enough to sit in front of me and do some simple sewing. The twins will each be making a small wall hanging and the 4 yr old a potholder, all for their mama's :D:D:D

luvfabric 12-28-2009 05:37 AM

Tiffany, I think I would have liked the scrappy border
also. I had planned on using some of the fabric we used for the inside. I think it will look better once we get the applique on the border.

Lostn51 12-28-2009 08:01 AM

I am going to make a frame for 4" thick styrofoam targets for my daughter and I to shoot at with our Red Ryder BB guns  then I am going to work on a couple of quilts for the "Quilt for kids" this afternoon.

Panther Creek Quilting 12-28-2009 08:17 AM

jljack 12-28-2009 04:23 PM

Oh, see? I knew I forgot something.....my Quilts for Kids kit is on the shelf, too.
