Panther Creek Quilting 12-11-2009 06:39 AM

I am home today and working on a DNP lap quilt for my son for christmas. Also need to bind my hubby's lap quilt for Christmas. One more to go after that for my daughter. Oh, and finish my step-daughter's t-shirt quilt! I had better get busy.

Trying to get the border for this quilt top that my mom and I put together from scraps. It was supposed to have a scrappy border but she whats it all one material.

daisyboo9 12-11-2009 07:12 AM

let's see I have a table runner for my mom to quilt, a wall hanging with just a little bit left to quilt and then bind, a bag to quilt and I have to pick up a quilt from the longarm service and bind that before christmas for my dad.

Lostn51 12-11-2009 07:14 AM

I am going to try and start my sons quilt for his Christmas stocking stuffer. I am still trying to figure out if I want to do a scrappy or what.........

Lisa_wanna_b_quilter 12-11-2009 07:14 AM

I'm working on pinwheel blocks and thinking about doing more farmers for the swap.

Panther Creek Quilting 12-11-2009 07:14 AM

oh luv fabric, that is beautiful. I normally don't like scrappy quilts, but that is beautiful.

Back to the sewing machine........Poof!

pocoellie 12-11-2009 07:39 AM

Sewing the last section of rows are the kimono quilt, then finish quilting it, then finally, the binding. I didn't think I'd ever finish this.LOL
Of course, it's not finished yet, but I should have it pretty well close to done.

charismah 12-11-2009 07:46 AM

I am working on a moster applique quilt...going to work adn then heading off to my grandmothers house for a weekend of shopping!

Baren*eh*ked_canadian 12-11-2009 07:56 AM

I'm working on quilting my best friend's quilt. I decided to try something new and not use batting, just fleece for the backing. Going well so far.
I also have to get a move on my father's Christmas quilt. It's a storm at sea pattern, in red yellow and orange, and a really awesome guitar print flannel for the backing. I've had the backing for 8 months now, but I'm still working on piecing the top, lol!

Panther Creek Quilting 12-11-2009 08:23 AM

Billy - you must be fast, LOL. Just starting something for christmas would stress me out. But i guess i do the same thing. I start things months ago and am now trying to finish 10 projects for christmas.

Back to the machine............Poof!

KBunn 12-11-2009 08:41 AM

Ugh....so many to finish before Christmas. Two lap quilts to finish binding....one just completed last night. I need to finsih quilting the oversized lap qult for my mother and clean up all the snipping on the flannel rag quilt for my father in law. I also have a seude vest and a fleece blanket to finish sewing for DH.....I think that should do it for the holiday!!!

Jim's Gem 12-11-2009 09:22 AM

I just got my "quilts for kids kit" I may try to work on it a bit. So glad that the squares are precut. I have a hard time cutting with my right arm in a sling!!

Panther Creek Quilting 12-11-2009 10:23 AM

i signed up last night for that and I am so excited to see what I get. Can you post pics of your kit?

pookie ookie 12-11-2009 10:30 AM

This is how the kit arrived. The strips for the 4 patches are already cut as well as the 6 1/2" blocks and the strips for the borders. This will enable me to sew it cause cutting the strips would be difficult at best. I'm so glad that it is pre-cut, otherwise I would have to wait a little while to be able to sew it together. I won't be able to quilt it for a couple of weeks though.

I am working on my Nov/Dec doll quilt, then on to my grands Christmas gifts :D:D:D

Loretta -
How do you restore a quilt. I wouldn't know where to start. Do you add pieces in the worn spots or do more of a mending techniques like stitching down any torn areas?

Jim's Gem -

That is a very cute kit for your quilt for kids. I am so excited to get mine.

ghostrider 12-11-2009 12:45 PM

Working on my Christmas cards (hey they're quilted so it counts!) and then on to a couple CD covers and some legal pad folios for gifts.

Panther Creek Quilting 12-11-2009 05:41 PM

well I got the top totally pieced and am ready to add borders. I want to do a piano key border, I think. So I might wait til tomorrow to work on that.

littlehud 12-11-2009 07:42 PM

I had to work today. After twelve hours I just want to go to bed. Tomorrow I'll sew more on the quilt I am making for DD.

roselady 12-11-2009 07:57 PM

I had to work, too. Starting tomorrow I will be sewing like crazy. The quilt I just finished for my son(I will try to figure out how to post a pic) is at the quilters, so I will have to bind it. I am STARTING a quilt for my daughter and her new husband, a christmas quilt depicting our Christmas Eve traditions, it is an easy pattern that I hope to finish in a couple of days. I will also be starting a tiny quilt with hand embroidery for my sister, in honor of sisterhood that will be put in a shadow box with some pictures. If it weren't for all of you admitting to such craziness, I sure wouldn't have listed all of this!!! We are a rare breed, us quilters!

wvdek 12-11-2009 08:15 PM

I went into school today and finished three more chapters in Keyboarding so that I would get an A instead of B. School is officially over for this semester, but teacher said we had until 4 today to get work in that counted toward our grade. I really wanted that A.

However, Saturday I will be working on finishing up the Nov/Dec quilt.

Have to make a curtain for my laundry room so the cats stay off the tops of the machines.

Then there is a candle mat I am EPP that is turning out nicely.

I will be off until Jan. 19, so I intend to get lots done.

Oh, and I guess at some point I should decorate the tree. LOL

I just finished doing the first border on a round robin quilt square. I'm in a group with 5 other quilters, and we're using Mark Lipinsky's guidelines for each of the borders. We just started, so this is my first time working on someone else's quilt. It harder to make decisions of what to do on someone else's square. I'm afraid they won't like it. This is what I've done.......

MadQuilter 12-13-2009 12:23 AM

I am sewing down the binding on the Nov/Dec doll quilt. Jeesh, those thin strips do not want to cooperate. Can't think past that at the moment although there are 4 projects hanging on the banister in the loft staring at me and I committed to a few swaps.

sewhappy57 12-13-2009 02:03 AM

I had to put the quilting away for a day or two and make Kuspiks for
a school performance.

lots2do 12-13-2009 05:02 AM

What's a Kuspick?
Thanks!

sewnsewer2 12-13-2009 05:50 AM

Well last night I got started on a quilt for my bed. It is called chelsea garden. I'm doing it in different fabrics than the pattern calls for. So far I like it!

Will post pics when I get further along.

NorBanaquilts 12-13-2009 09:16 AM

I'm finally working on my blue and white blocks for the DJ swap

I googled it but all I got were different people who had that last name. I'm interested in hearing what a Kuspick is also.

sewhappy57 12-13-2009 11:08 AM

Okay I'm sorry! I made a typo with the spelling of "Kuspuk". It's a Alaskan native dress or shirt. The grade school is doing Alaska studies so I made my friends little ones Kuspuks to do there presentation.

Kellie G 12-13-2009 12:07 PM

I have finished all my quilted Christmas gifts. (I live in Northern MI and have to ship alot of my gifts, so they must be done early). I am now making pillow cases for 6 of my nieces and nephews. They are done in all different fabrics: Sponge Bob, The Princesses, Tinker Bell, Camo, etc. I have 2 completed, 1 almost done and 3 to go, but the fabrics are all cut, so the only thing left is the sewing...I am also finishing up my Christmas baking...

May in Jersey 12-13-2009 12:07 PM

Began making a Christmas runner for DGD who just bought her first home. I had just enough background fabric to make the runner I had in mind but I cut it incorrectly. Now it's a challenge to come up with another design AND enough fabric to complete it even if I miscut again. May in Jersey

Bev 12-13-2009 12:29 PM

I just finished my grandkids' teachers Christmas gifts for their upcoming school parties.
I made them different things, but my favorite is an apron, hot pad, and potholders, using Gator fabrics for my granddaughter's teacher who is a Florida Gator fan from the word GO! Every time there's a game coming up she comes to school all decked out in Gator apparel. I figured these things I made are not something she'll find in the stores.
She's gonna love them!

pookie ookie 12-13-2009 02:05 PM

Fabric fortune cookies and a Santorini fabric throw quilt for the bf. We love Santorini and I want him to have one blanket that's really feminine and me.

OK, I guess I'm really out of it, but I've got to ask, what is a Santorini?
