If the price is right, grab it....even if it never works again....the craftsmanship of the old Singers is fantastic....wish we had some of that quality workmanship and prettiness now.....now we are all into "plastic" and throw away......

It would depend on how much it was. Cleaning it up is not a hard job and oil will probably fix the wheel and needle problem. It is beautiful.

Being the fact that it is froze up, you may have a problem getting it to work, but if you want it for a conversation piece---go for it.

I have one in a treadle cabinet. Love it! She'll clean up nice and sew a perfect stitch! But then I love vintage machines.

.................The only problem that I can see, if you buy this machine, is that you will be doomed to start collecting these old machines until you start running out of room in your house. You will be looking for new and unique way's to hide (I mean display) your machines....such as the bathroom .....................CabbagePatchKid
LOL, As it happens, I do have room for a cabinet in my bathroom. I've got two cabinets waiting to be refinished. One is going in my diningroom. I know exactly where. The other????????? I was hoping for the livingroom, but things are pretty tight in there. |
My old Singer has a similar face plate and I tried to clean it then realized the tannish stuff is meant to help highlight the design. @@ on me!
