OH! I am going through TONS of "what was I thinking" fabric. I used to sew all my Gkids baby and toddler clothes. I have more cotton knit than a person could use for TWENTY kids in a lifetime. I don't sew clothes any more and would love the space for quilting fabric. I have been wracking my brain on what to do with all this cotton knit. ANY IDEAS???????

toadmomma 10-11-2011 04:04 AM

Great piece of fabric

learner 10-11-2011 04:11 AM

Fantastic! Made me laugh right away. My daughter got a tattoo of the sun and the moon on her STOMACH when she was away at college - three pregnancies later and it doesn't look quite the same.

Quilt Mom 10-11-2011 04:19 AM

Halloween costume?

reginalovesfabric 10-11-2011 04:34 AM

too bad that wasn't little football helmets, I would buy it then it could be USM fabric,

Quilt Fan 10-11-2011 04:42 AM

If one can use fleece as backing on charity quilts knits should work. Has anyone tried that? Maybe in place of batting?
Also good for doll clothes. Some American doll patterns call for knits although they do not require a lot of fabric.

TOO funny. Maybe you were thinking of being one of the first to make the people trips to the moon and wanted a nice warm blankie to hold for security. LOL The girls here have given you lots of good ideas though so I'm sure you will find something to do with it.

LOL* I think it would be fine for a halloween project though. :)

ChildoftheUniverse 10-11-2011 05:34 AM

Something magical, perhaps! :-D

Kath12 10-11-2011 05:50 AM

Love it! Of course I love Fall/Halloween fabrics

desertrose 10-11-2011 05:51 AM

Definately backing fabric perhaps for a lot of "The Cow Jumped Over The Moon" quilts ????

debby wicke 10-11-2011 05:53 AM

Hey, now is the time to use this fabric...make Halloween wall hanging, table runner or placemats. There is all kind of uses for that fabric.

Highmtn 10-11-2011 06:05 AM

You could also just make it into a fun "Halloween" table cloth! It would hide any *spill* known to mankind.. lol

snicktrain 10-11-2011 06:10 AM

Do the moons glow in the dark??? I like it.

rekrug 10-11-2011 06:12 AM

Screams cape lining to me, too!

Joanne9of12 10-11-2011 06:13 AM

It's amazing but this really is an example of "one person's trash is another's treasure." This is exactly the type of fabric I've been looking for to use on my Halloween Series of quilts. Enjoy it and use it well, my friend. :-)

Glenda Kay 10-11-2011 06:34 AM

Just remember that a bargain is something you don't need at a price you can't resist. Perhaps that explains it? And yes, I've fallen for that too.

jeannie t 10-11-2011 06:36 AM

I like the material.

Great backing for a kid's quilt. ahhhhhhhhh for several kids quilts!

BarbM32 10-11-2011 07:07 AM

I think it is friendly banter too but did not want her to feel she had to give it away for little of nothing. Nice fabric, lots of it and so usable in so many ways. If it was me I would have used it up long ago. However to make you all feel better I do have much stuff in my stash that also should have been used up long ago.
What we need here is a fabric swap. Did this at the quilt guild. It was so much fun and new stuff for our stash.

EagarBeez 10-11-2011 07:33 AM

Making a few Halloween lap quilts, or a backing on a Halloween quilt...or even a "What was I thinking" quilt

But knit isn't as comfy as fleece and tends to be hard to work with if it is combined with a non-stretchy fabric. I have enough knit fabric here that I could dress every American Girl doll in the world. My American Girl days are over, I don't like sewing doll clothes.

Linn 10-11-2011 08:27 AM

I relly like that fabric. Great backing for tablerunners or anything.

procrastin8r 10-11-2011 09:22 AM

I can see a whole bunch of boxer shorts :o)

Stitchit123 10-11-2011 11:19 AM

You could make a Wizards costume -My favorite holiday is only 20 days away

I had this exact material, I used it to make a halloween log cabin quilt(barn raising style), it turned out really neat. Just have to find the right application for that particular material.

CalleQuilter 10-11-2011 12:12 PM

Halloween quilt backing, halloween tote bags for candy.
You can find some uses for that! :)

They make great dog blankets for the local pound, shelter, SPCA organization. I bought some double knit quilts, unintentionally, at an estate sale but washed them up and gifted them to our vet for animals in recovery after a surgery or for whatever she can use them for. She was touched by the gift and they went to a good new home other than mine!

chris_quilts 10-11-2011 01:40 PM

My "what was I thinking" fabric is large floral fabrics with black or navy blue backgrounds. I liked the navy background so much, I bought 2 pieces of it!!! Have thought of turning it into doggy or kitty blankets for the local pound here for them to go with the animals to their forever homes.

Sanpot 10-11-2011 02:32 PM
