I have an ott desk lamp that I like. It's not industrial looking and would look good in a living room. I quilt in the main part of my house and want to keep my sewing area from sticking out from the rest of the place.

LOVE my Ott lamps. I have four of them.

We have 4 OttLites also. Two for the floor beside the recliners, one for my sewing machine and one for DH's desk. Highly recommend them, though I do like the ones with bases that don't clamp onto anything. Go to their website to see all the styles.

I have bought the daylight LED's at Target & they made a big difference (I got the 60W equivalent). It's just not enough & at $20 a pop, I can't really afford to outfit every fixture with them. I'm scared to see how much light I'll need at age 60. I'm only 37 right now & my vision tests near 20/20; maybe the cathedral ceilings are eating up a lot of the light in my room -- having a lamp that I can angle down, like the Ottlite should help a lot.

I found a little flexible LED Ottlite for $29.99 at Joann. So excited :P

I do too! I have a whole mess of gooseneck clip-on IKEA desk lamps. I clip them around where ever I am working!

The LED bulbs for regular sockets are so much better then the awful swirly cfl bulbs. I won't have a swirly bulb in my house. Gives me a headache and I swear affects my dog too. I stocked up on regular bulbs before they were outlawed. I have replaced most of them with LED bulbs as I go. I can't stay in the bank lobby here more then a few minutes and my head and eyes start to hurt. They have the cfl bulbs overhead.
I feel stupid to stand in the bulb aisle and have to be confused about a light bulb!

I have a table top Ott-lite w/ the heavy base. I highly recommend it. It's hard to find a table top lamp that has as long a neck as this one has. This makes it very useful in many orientations. You can adjust the lamp head as well as the base of the neck. I've had mine for over 15 years and I'm still using the original bulb! This model can also be clamped to a table if you don't want to use the weighted base. Get one at JoAnn's and use a coupon.

I always had a simple goose necked desk lamp by my machine and I angled it where I needed it..but it did get in the way, and my neighbor kept telling me I needed better light..long story short..got a T-8 fixture and lamps, and WOW!!! I have it suspended from the ceiling with a ratcheting hanger...like this..
