I use my Janome 15000v2 and it's easy to get consistent stitches, especially using the start/stop button instead of the foot pedal. It also has a FMQ foot and machine selection that lets the foot hover over rather than touch the fabric. BUT it has a wide body and it is actually hard to see what is going on. If you shop around you will see some machines have a narrow body and it is much easier to see the area you are pushing around under the needle. I notice this a lot because I have neck issues, so crouching or hunching over to see causes pain in a short time.

I use my Pfaff 2034 and it does a good job but it really needs more space, it's not quite 7" . It's actually smaller than my old Pfaff 1209 but for some reason I can't seem to FMQ as well on the older one. Maybe I just need more practice. Glad to see that someone mentioned using a Singer 301! I have a Singer 201 but haven't tried it with that one yet.

I use a vintage Singer Featherweight or a vintage Singer 301.

I plan to use mine as well as soon as I get a free motion foot for this slant foot machine.

Oklahomamomma2, thanks for starting this thread! I'm still struggling to learn FMQ. What I have done has been on my Juki HZL F600 ... but I haven't been able to get a "rhythm" (balance of machine speed and moving quilt speed).

Anyone else using a Juki F600? I would like to hear your pros and cons for FMQ on this machine. I love my machine and probably just need more FMQ practice.

I'm another person with a Juki TL2010Q for FMQ. Love it. I used to use my vintage Bernina Record 830, but the Juki does it better. Cuts the threads too.

I have a Brother, Laura Ashley special edition, Innov-'is, NX2000 that I use for my FMQ. I love it!!! It has a decent sized throat to push the quilt through and sews like a dream!! It was built specifically for quilter's and it shows!

I have a janome 16pqc with sure stich regulator on a grace pro frame. Also a bernina 830 with bsr . I use both, larger quilts on frame and smaller quilts and more detailed quilting on the bernina. Love both but dream of a long arm.
