What about a Disappearing 9-Patch, with white in the center square ? Then you can really play with the blocks.

Along with the white, you could maybe work in some apple green or something like it. It needn't be all pink and white, or all pink for that matter. I like the selection though. Good luck! Post pics when you're done.
