I was browsing on ebay for fabric and bought some fabric squares before realizing they were only 2 inches. There are 72 of them and they are all in pinks. I was thinking I would make a valentines table runner. Any ideas?

Tussymussy 01-26-2011 03:16 PM

they would look gorgeous made into a scrappy heart quilt.

ann clare 01-26-2011 03:17 PM

Great colors

Dragonfly Nana 01-26-2011 03:17 PM

Runner is a good idea. How about a 9P alternating with white squares? 5 color/4 white and 5 white/4 color

lauriejo 01-26-2011 03:18 PM

They are beautiful! I don't think they look like an oops.

lisalovesquilting 01-26-2011 03:18 PM

I like the table runner idea.

bakermom 01-26-2011 03:36 PM

Yeah i did the same thing only mine were 4". The thing is I knew it said 4" but I was still picturing a bigger square.

I like this idea and that would make them go farther.

I love the colors, the oops comes in the size, I had searched for charm squares, and thought they were 5" by 5" but they are only 2" by 2" so that limits what I can do with them.

Rntraveler 01-26-2011 04:02 PM

Looks like a darling little girly quilt...

Oh, yes! Great idea Tussymussy

Raggiemom 01-26-2011 04:37 PM

They're very pretty and I think whatever you make with them will be pretty.

CarrieAnne 01-26-2011 04:45 PM

very pretty!

tjradj 01-26-2011 04:48 PM

Do it postage stamp style. get out some graph paper and draw your pattern. Make the background white. Then say each square on the graph paper is a "pixel" and fill it in with either a pink or white square. Bind it in pink and it will be maaaahhh-velous!

becca1231 01-26-2011 04:49 PM

nice variety of prints. I like the runner idea too.

Candace 01-26-2011 04:59 PM

Cathedral windows?

Airwick156 01-26-2011 05:37 PM

Sew them all together just like you have them layed out. That would be a really pretty quilt.

sewingsuz 01-26-2011 05:52 PM

They are very pretty, what ever you make.

frugalfabrics 01-26-2011 06:59 PM

coin quilt with extra rows since they are short

Rose L 01-26-2011 07:02 PM

You could make a Valentine's table runner and make the little 2" squares into tiny little prairie points to border the table runner with.

Looks like an Opportunity not an oops

lauriejo 01-27-2011 04:59 AM

I really like the idea of a scrappy heart shape. Maybe on a tabletopper or small wall hanging?

kanakama 01-27-2011 05:25 AM

Add some white and make a girl baby quilt. 9 patch or irish chain.

Would you sew them together individually like you have them laid out? I have a stack of 2-2 1/2 inch squares leftover from a Lil Twister quilt. All I could think of was Prairie Points.

georgiat 01-27-2011 06:30 AM

What about something like a colorwash? Sorry this may nto be the correct term but, lay them out with the darker pins in the center, then go light to the edges. Or along the same line design a heart with the darker ones in the center and lighter on the outside. It would be a very subtle design.

Grandma Peg 01-27-2011 07:18 AM

It will be a great valentine table runner or wallhanging.

Butterflyblue 01-27-2011 07:21 AM

Cute, cute prints. I'm sure you'll find something to do with them. A table runner sounds good. I'm into combining piecing and applique lately, and I think I would make a postage stamp center with appliqued borders.

watterstide 01-27-2011 08:27 AM

you know, i think a simple 4 or 9 patch would be beautiful, with a nice crisp white or white on white fabric...

sometimes simple is better!

lillybeck 01-27-2011 08:48 AM

I love the colors. I recently ordered some this size also but I did it on purpoise. I am collecting enough to make a quilt from the, but do not want to cut all those. Anything you make with them will be great because the variety is wonderful.

I agree totally with Watterstide.......there are so many colorful colors and texture type patterns in them that the white or white on whites would make the quilt burst with beauty plus it would give the eyes a place to rest and enjoy all those beautiful pinks without being overwhelming. Sometimes we feel we have to do so much to a quilt when in reality the simplicity in them makes them stunning.

love those fabrics...think I buy from same person :)

Ramona Byrd 01-27-2011 10:32 AM

I like the pattern you have them in in this picture. I myself would level the edges and put on a thin darker pink edging and then a wider lighter patterned pink. This would be lovely as a little girl's quilt. You could make it as big as you want but small enough to be dragged around by that lucky kid!!
If life hands you lemons make lemon aid. And grate the lemon rinds and flavor cookies from them!!

debbieoh 01-27-2011 12:02 PM

Love the pinks!!! what about a scrappy wall hanging on baby quilt

JulieR 01-27-2011 12:21 PM

Another vote for postage stamp alternating with white! I'm doing that now with some 4" charm packs I've had for years and never found a use for. I've quartered them and made it into my hand-piecing project for this year.

AnnieH 01-27-2011 12:25 PM

They're really pretty fabrics.

watterstide 01-27-2011 12:25 PM

Some day, i am going to make "ticker tape" baby quilt..

And

isn't is cute?!

quilting cat 01-27-2011 12:26 PM

I just hung my heart quilt today! I like the idea of using them in hearts. Maybe one square and two half-circles cut from another square for each heart?

katiescraftshop 01-27-2011 12:27 PM

I love pink and think the 9P idea is a great one.

purplefiend 01-27-2011 12:45 PM

here's what I did with a whole bunch of 2" squares.
