The fact that I have made (start to finish) close to 30 quilts. Now that is little compared to some, a lot compared to others, but I have been proud of every one I made. I also learn a lot when making quilts and try to improve my techniques. To answer your question: I am a quilter because I need to be dethreaded before I leave the house or I leave fuzzies wherever I stop. lol

I make mine on the machine and quilt them the same way , but I can also hand piece and hand quilt them, but the love and passion I have for the quilting process is what makes me a quilter :D

I also hand applique, embroider (boy is that a long BOM story) and machine piece. Since I travel all the time, I tend to do more hand work than machine work, but that's because it is easier for me. If the quilt is larger than a lap quilt, I tend to take it in and pay to have a long arm quilter do it. I don't like my machine work yet. I do have a queen size one on the avatar that is totally hand appliqued and quilted. It's queen size and has been claimed by my DH when I finish the final row of quilting and bind it. So far, it's been 5 years. Maybe next year the mood will strike again. LOL

I just love the whole creative process from picking out fabric, piecing it together and creating a lovely quilt.

I love how it make me feel good to do creative things and feel good about myself!

I love how it introduced me to many friends here!

The creativity of the whole process and the fact that I can make something beautiful and different every time by just cutting and stitching a straight line! Down the road I'm getting into curves, but if I never make it there, who cares! It still makes me feel good about myself.

Good question! I asked myself that many times! Why do I hesitate when asked if I am a quilter! Guess there are all kinds of quilters.

I hand quilted my first two quilts, both king size. Now I'm like so many.....always in a hurry as there is never enough time so I am learning to machine quilt. My best friend/sister says it is because anyone who would take a perfectly good piece of fabric, cut it up and then sew it back together is "nuts". Nope, she does not sew let alone quilt, but I did convince her to tie one for me.

I solely do hand quilting. It makes my day, it makes me happy and makes my soul sing. I love to touch the quilted structures and I love to see the fabrics and colors sparkle. And it makes me proud and thankful that I can create something beautiful and special to delight others.

I started quilting when my last child left home. I needed to start something new and it has lasted 22 years. I am still learning and far from perfect, but I really enjoy the whole process. I machine piece and hand quilted for years, but now I am learning FM quilting on my HQ sweet sixteen sit down machine. I give away to kids and if a quilt is unwanted I stack it up in the back room (as in picture).
