If I go past three, I switch to something else, take a break, or stop to pee and then eat. Chocolate or a strong cup of coffee helps!

I have had more than that with a wonky tension until I corrected the problem- one time I had a small section of thread caught in a place that I didn't see the first time, and it threw my machine off until I gave it a thorough cleaning and found the culprit.

Three times then it goes in time out! Okay - maybe 4 times. But definately time out!

I have sewn a seam with normal piecing 3 times, but paper piecing too many times to count. LOL Luckily it can be pretty forgiving.

15 times.............on this little sucker!?
After PP the 16 blocks I had to remove the paper as it was too bulky and I sewed each seam between two and six times average - only one tread apart and it looked terrible.
The record was 15 times till it was perfect

I kept counting each time and it felt like hitting the jackpot when it was straigt the second time.

Yesterday I was joining sections of a 2" border. The side border was already attached so I just needed the top and bottom. I was getting tired but down to my last join. I had to rip it out 4 times before I got it. I didn't have to redo any of the other joins...grrr. The icing on the cake is that I was so excited at the prospect of getting the inner border done that I apparently forgot how to measure. I had carefully measured the middle of the quilt-not once but twice. Used the calculator to determing what needed to be trimmed off. I laid my strip down to trim and merrily trimmed it 4" too short. I haven't checked the other border strip yet. I just figured that was my sign to stop for the day.

Eventually I just say "It's good enough."

Me too.

In ninth grade home ec I sewed a zipper into a skirt 9 times ! really amazing that the worsted wool didn't just shred :o) Now it is three and you are done, of course that can't be true for paper piecing.

Now we need a picture to see the end product.

3 times is my maximum and I then leave it for awhile and come back later for the last and final time.
