I cut 1 1/2 inch strips and pitch anything smaller. I have a basket full of enough 1 1/2" strips for enough log cabin quilts to cover the state of Idaho!

1-1/2 is the smallest I keep for myself, anything else goes into a scrap bag to pass on to someone who does mini's. I also put in ends of fabrics that I don't want to look at anymore, or trimmings from squaring up after quilting, stuff like that, so whoever gets my scrap bags should be quite happy with them!

(and I have 2 ready to go)

I read a post that you can take ur small scraps and pieces of thread and put them outside in the bushes and the birds will use them for making nests...great idea if it works!

I have a huge laundry basket full of strips, strings, and chunks to make coin quilts, etc.

Same here

I generally throw away strips smaller than 1" wide but I think I will start collecting them to give to others who use smaller strips.

With the price of fabric as it is and continually climbing, it's seems such a waste to send it to landfill if someone else can get use out of it.

If it smaller than and 1" then it's too small. :-D

I use 1" strips all the time. I save my tiny scraps for the "bale" at the guild. I'm not sure exactly what happens to them, but I know they go to a good cause for recycling.

I agree! Question to you CCTX where did you get the Dorothy picture?

Thank you for the stuffing idea. I never though of that. It's a great way to use tiny scraps without putting them in landfills!
