Janice, this warms my heart. How wonderful you still have your sweet mother. I miss mine so much. Would love to meet her sometimes. I am so happy to hear she is active and having fun with her beautiful daughter. God Bless both of you. ;)

Wow that is just great. To be active at that age is good, keeps the mind sharp and gives them a reason to keep going.

I'm sure we'd all love to see a photo of your 'oh so special Mom'. She sounds like a wonderful lady. How about a pic of her with her mug rugs??

BeeNana 07-02-2011 04:42 PM

I just love her!!!

Have you invited her to join us yet?

Sweet! Thanks for sharing an uplifting story. I lost my mom six years ago - still miss her. Give your mom a hug from a fellow quilter.

Olivia's Grammy 07-03-2011 08:50 AM

Does that mean she is still teaching you?

EverNow 07-04-2011 07:12 AM

Okay, color me dumb. What's a Mug Rug?

EverNow 07-04-2011 07:35 AM

Speaking of hugs.... Thanks for everyone who offered help with my PinWheel projecf. Tried and tried, but I still had no luck and threw it out. I then discovered it wasn't my fault. My old cutting map is so scratch and marked up that every is off kilter. I'm spending my cash this month on a new mat and a rotary sharpener. Thanks agato every one was full of tips and encouraged me. Great group of quilters here!

That's sew sweet! You are very blessed to still have Mom around. I too taught my mother to sew (not quilt) when I was 17 (now well into my early 60s). Four years later she made my sister's wedding gown! Guess I taught her good. I lost her 8 years ago and it still hurts.

That is such a sweet story! Good for her that she is keeping herself busy and that she is making mug rugs. Nice, quick, satisfying, small project that is easy to tackle at any age.

GOOD FOR HER...not just sitting around getting "rusty" lol :)

Happy Tails 07-06-2011 12:54 PM

Good for her. I am 82 and still love quilting and am so glad to have found this site. It sure fills my days with pleasant things to read and look at the lovely quilts all you quilters can make.
