A friend asked me the name of this pattern and I can't identify it, can any of you tell us what it is?

winding ways or wheel of mystery.....this link shares 3 possible methods...

Its not curvy enough for winding ways but the curve at the corners make it not the kaleidoscope either but it seems like a mixture of both patterns
|
I am not sure of the name but I am sure someone on the board will come up with it.

I looks like a variation on a drunkard's path. The squares look like they start out as a drunkard's path block and then the triangles on the sides are added in a similar way to the flying geese method that uses a rectangle and two squares. If I knew how to post a picture, I would draw it and post it.
Oh I see the seams now......you may be right with your interpretation....sort of a drunkards path, then peaky&spikey added to the solid side to make that triangle...... |
It's Key West or Winding Ways, but you can check quilterscache.com and find the block.
