I have some black, gray red geometric fabric from the 70's. I made two tote bags last year. The bags were a big hit. Still have some yardage left of it. I had some fabric from my grandmothers wedding dress (circa 1880's), but now I don't know where it is.

1980 :)

1970s, I would not be afraid to use in a quilt. In fact, if I don't get tired of working with scraps, I plan to use some squares I cut out before the rotary cutters.

How old is your oldest piece of fabric that you bought new?:)

I've got one butterfly piece that is 12 years old, bought when my GS was born. It's one that is too pretty to cut. I'm sure there are other pieces not quite as important that are older. I've got scraps from shorts for my younger DD that are 20 years old

Just rememebered, scraps of olive green with fuzzy yellow polka dots. The dress was for my sister's wedding in 1971--------------still not in the running for old, but what the heck.

I have used up so much of mine that now none of it is very old.

The oldest fabric I have comes from about 1996.

Mine might not be as old as yours, but I found a piece of fabric that I bought at Kresge's with a .49 cent tag on it. I remember buying fabric for 4/1.00. The tag was like thin cardboard with the wire that went through the fabric and bent back to make it stay on the fabric. Bought it in the late 50's (probably 1959) for a sewing class at school. (You still win because I am younger than you, not by much though! lol)

I had up until about 6 years ago a piece a fabric I used to make a dress in my second year of 4 H. So I would have been 11. I am very close to 69 now. I remember it well. Sewed on a treadle Singer. It was a sun dress with V neck, dropped V waist with gathered skirt. Sleeveless, zipper in back ( had to buy extra fabric due to taking that zipper out way to many times) lol It also had white piping around neck, sleeves and waist. Fabric was pink with white stars scatter about. Lord what was I thinking!!!! ''''''Oh well, I still seem to have bigger ideas than ability. By the way I placed Second. Loved that dress!

Love it!!

I didn't buy it, but I have a piece of Chinese brocade that was brought back from China in the 1920's -- I have had a lot of suggestions about what to do with it, but for now it is stored.
