I am trying to duplicate this quilt pattern, I know I have seen it somewhere but can't find it anywhere! I've searched through strip tube patterns, strip patterns, blocks and log cabins but can't find it.....some similar but not this one. Anyone know what it is called and where I can find it?

jitkaau 11-16-2011 02:56 AM

It is very much like a Trip Around the World pattern done with half square triangles. Sorry that I don't have a more technical term - it is very attractive.

SueDor 11-16-2011 03:18 AM

I wish I could tell you. I like it too.

Sew N Tune 11-16-2011 05:44 AM

I don't know either, but it's a beautiful pattern. Looks like its all HST, and upon closer look, most of those have 3 - 4 colors each. Good luck finding the pattern.

bearisgray 11-16-2011 06:45 AM

Does look like a trip around the world -

That is the major clue of how to put this quilt together!

Half of the squares are made of one fabric cut into a HST - and the other part of the squares look like they were strip pieced and then cut into QSTs - and pieced together into a HST - and then the one piece and strip pieced HSTs were sewn into a square unit.

Lovely quilt pictured.

QuiltnNan 11-16-2011 06:53 AM

it's a beautiful quilt. sorry i don't recognize the pattern

nativetexan 11-16-2011 07:29 AM

well it's definitely a tube quilt. one row of strips with one strip of fabric cut the same size and laid on top. different colors in lights and darks. lovely quilt. hope you figure out how to do one yourself. good luck.

I am pretty sure that it is "Illusions." I am not sure where to find it but I think it was a feature in American Patchwork magzaine. I have it marked in my stash to make it, but haven't had the time. Will try to find it today and send the info to you.

lfstamper 11-16-2011 08:32 AM

Very cool pattern. Anxiously following along for the final decision on the name.

green pen 11-16-2011 08:44 AM

I think I found it. Go to the "all people quilt" site and type in "illusion in neutrals." Whoever made the quilt you pictured uses darker, more vibrant colors and I really like it.

Funny, I just finished this quilt...it's called Cambridge Square by RO Gregg for Northcott fabrics. It's an older pattern and you can't find most of the fabrics anymore, but they do still have the free pattern on their website.

This is my first attempt at trying to attach photos, so I hope it works.

Doreen 11-16-2011 11:11 AM

Very pretty! I'm checking out the illusion in neutrals.

I don't know the pattern, but like the quilt!

gzbird101 11-16-2011 01:34 PM

Thank you ladies! Especially *omalluvs2quilt* and *ghostrider*! That is the quilt! You are the best! I knew someone here would be able to tell me what it was! Now to get fabric ( I'm thinking batiks) and get quilting!!

owlvamp 11-16-2011 01:35 PM

I don't know either, but it's a beautiful pattern.

Thank you so much! It's lovely and I've downloaded it! b:o

gzbird101 11-16-2011 02:36 PM

Beautiful! I've looked for the fabric, but can't find any at all so I am thinking I will use batiks and try for the same neutral colors and see what that looks like.

whinnytoo 11-17-2011 04:00 AM

beautiful~ hope you find the pattern!

OHSue 11-17-2011 06:33 AM

Thanks for asking, I saved the pdf for future reference.... not going to fool you guys and say for making it.

countrycousin 11-17-2011 07:26 AM

I would go with illusion.

Sewfine 11-17-2011 07:37 AM

Sure is pretty. Would love to make a blue one. Sorry I don't know the name of it.

k9dancer 11-17-2011 08:04 AM

It is called Barn Raising and is made with half square triangle blocks. I have made several of these4, and they all look different.

janjer 11-17-2011 10:03 AM

Is this a version of sunshine and shadow? I think that because of the way the darks and lights are lined up.
Also could be from a strip pieced pattern because the half square triangles are solids and strips.
wow! lots of possibilities for this one.

duh!!! I should have looked up catmcclure's link. well, it is still a wow!

knlsmith 11-17-2011 10:11 AM

Nice pattern! :)

sewhat540 11-17-2011 11:01 AM

Yes, it is Trip around the world, beautiful need less to say. I made one years ago but this sure beats the one I did.

BrendaK 11-17-2011 11:21 AM

:) Thanks for the link. Boy there goes my bucket list again. Guess I had better get started. Maybe after the holidays. BrendaK

Grab a sheet of graph paper and sketch it out. Then recopy it the size you want.

AllAboutScraps 11-18-2011 04:12 AM

Okay - this may make me sound stupid but I'm confused. Is this quilt named "Trip around the World", "Barn Raising", "Illusion", or Cambridge Square? Or is it possible it is known by all 4 names? Whatever it is called, it IS beautiful!

DianneK 11-18-2011 04:51 AM

It is a beautiful quilt and thank you, ladies, for the links. I, too, will not promise to make it, but...!

jarenie 11-18-2011 05:38 AM

"Illusions." featured in American Patchwork magzaine.

KarenR 11-18-2011 05:55 AM

I do not know the name but wow is that beautiful. Wish I knew how they got those stripes to line up perfect!

wvdek 11-18-2011 06:04 AM

Thanks for the link. I already have it downloaded and saved for a special someday. I love Ro Gregg quilts. Always makes such good use of patterns and fabrics. 'Cambridge Square" will be making an appearance in my home soon.

omaluvs2quilt 11-18-2011 06:47 AM

It actually went together very smoothly. Mostly strip pieced. I used a quilt in a day triangle ruler to cut the strips rather than the directions on the pattern, lots easier than measuring.
I can't wait to get it back from my longarm quilting lady!

rannyof3 11-18-2011 06:53 AM

Why doesn't the picture show up for me?????

jojosnana 11-18-2011 09:33 AM

Have fun making it and be sure to send a pic when it is done.....it will be gorgeous.

mariebaker 11-18-2011 11:02 AM

beautiful quilt! and thanks for the name and location too. I was just thinking of starting a new project and this is a winner.
and thanks to gzbird101 for starting the thread:o

Jazzlife 11-18-2011 11:04 AM

looks like a version of sunshine and shadows. The jest of sunshine and shadows is to make 1/2 sq. triangles in lights (sunshine) and darks (shadows) and layouts very.. This looks like the designer's layout is built around center motif working out with runs of sunshine then shadows.

mccourtl 11-18-2011 01:18 PM

I obtained a copy of this pattern on line a while ago. It's called Kashmir a Jinny Beyer Studio Design. I believe I got it off the RJR Fabrics web site... This is too strange though. I just pulled this pattern out to take with me to the fabric store tomorrow.
