What about a helix design, perhaps with the greys and yellow off-set on a white background?

I agree with the idea of either a chevron or a churn dash. They would keep with the linear idea. It would depend on your decor. Is it more modern or traditional because the chevron leans to modern and the churn dash towards a more traditional look.
