I'll try, let me know if you need more information. From each fabric cut (160) 3.5" squares From each fabric cut (160) 2" squares Draw diagonal line on back of 2" squares* Sew 2" sq of fabric 2 on corner of each of fabric 1 Sew 2" sq of fabric 1 on corner of each of fabric 2 Trim excess off points using your preferred method Press all units toward dark Rotate & join 4 units to form one block (6.5" unfinished) (attaching picture of 4 blocks joined) Nestle seams when joining blocks for nice points Quilt shown has 8 blocks across and 10 down First border uses 2" strips, finished 1.5" Final border uses 4.75" strips (probably because I was running out of fabric?) *I don't draw lines because I have diagonal line drawn on my machine to line points up when sewing. You can use painters tape for this, also. Do let me know if you want more info and I'll try to clarify. Please share your quilt with us when/if you make this one. |

I only buy them when I have a 40% or 50% off coupon at Joann's. I've looked at them in the Hancock's of Paducah's catalog and they are really expensive but sometimes they do have them on sale for 17.00 or 18.00. |
I buy yardage but mostly jelly rolls, a few layer cakes and charm packs.
I like pre-cuts simply because I don't have easy access to fabric stores and they are already matched for me. :) I buy my fabric online mostly. When buying pre-cuts I find it more useful to choose the pattern first otherwise you could get stuck with the wrong cut or not enough. For example, there are patterns for jelly rolls that are not really suited for layer cakes...like sewing long strips. You could use layer cakes and cut strips but you could end up buying twice as much fabric and a lot of waste. Hope this helps. |
