What quilt do you really really want to do before the end of this year?

valleyquiltermo 09-16-2011 05:20 PM

A twisted bargello, just ordered the book. I have done bargellos.

LisaGibbs 09-16-2011 05:21 PM

I want the tops I have made all summer to be headed toward the "quilted" stage. It is to hot here to deal with any sort of thickness, so I spend the warmer times making "tops" and smaller projects and the winter time quilting and binding them.

erstan947 09-16-2011 05:22 PM

I have 7 tops I want to get quilted. I'm a dreamer:)

amandasgramma 09-16-2011 05:26 PM

all of them............:)

sewlisa 09-16-2011 05:29 PM

I'd be happy to finish the one I'm working on. If I could find my camera I'd post a pic. It's basically a 4 patch in brown, turquoise, and green with an appliqued brown square in the middle, sashing and borders...all by hand. DD's choice. :D

Nope...and that's the really frustrating part...I live in another city 15 miles from my Mom...my brother lives with her...he 'occasionally' has a license but doesn't have a car, my younger sister lives less than a mile from Mom but it seems she is always working, next door to her is my older sister who doesn't drive at all(thank goodness)...I have to get groceries for 3 households, plus the dr. appts for everyone...seems like I start to clean the room and someone has another "emergency"...I am 61, and this isn't the "Life" I ordered...lol...Naomi

Sunnie 09-16-2011 05:31 PM

Too many ideas...so little time. I print out any that interest me plus keep any magazine with a good idea. I think I will tape them all to the wall, put on a blindfold and throw a dart.

leatheflea 09-16-2011 05:32 PM

find a chocolate that is as healthy to eat as a carrot!

QuiltingGrannie 09-16-2011 05:35 PM

I just designed a Christmas one that I need to write out the directions on and get made, plus a few Christmas wall hangings, pot holders and need to finish Bill's queen/king bear quilt. It's ready for the LA but been working on other stuff instead!

deedum 09-16-2011 05:35 PM

I would love to get a KING size quilt made that my husband requested. He ask for 3 quilts to fit our bed. I just hope to get one done or get a smaller bed :)

I used to be that way, too, but finally realized that I was being used. We all have to learn to say no, and not be hurt by it. Sure feels good to be living my own life now!

LivelyLady 09-16-2011 06:09 PM

I'd love to finish by BOM, Henrietta Whiskers.

Old hen 09-16-2011 06:13 PM

Over the past several years, anytime I bought fabric for a quilt.........and the backing and binding.........I rolled it up on a fabric board. I now have 43 of them standing on my shelf, plus several kits in packages. It would be nice to finish one a month, but unless I quit shopping, I'll never catch up. :)

Montana Quilter 09-16-2011 06:14 PM

My brother and his wife recently separated, he has the kids thru the week(Faith-10, Troy-14), I want to make quilts for the three of them for Christmas. I'm hoping to do something a little more than just squares sewn together. Hoping to take a week off of work and have a marathon week of quilting and get as much done as possible. Ready to start now!

Greenheron 09-16-2011 06:16 PM

I want to make a couple of "I Spy" quilts. I never made a quilt with themed fabrics before but I've been collecting backyard animals and assorted candy and chocolate squares. They were planned as children's quilts but I believe the sweeties will have to be MINE. I found a hot chocolate print today at the Sew Chic anniversary sale in Fairmont, WV that begs to be sash or border.

MaryAnnMc 09-16-2011 06:18 PM

I'd actually like to make one of the many projects I have started, designed, planned and shopped for. I'm afraid it may turn out I like the idea of quilting more than the actual process. Too soon to tell. :?

blueangel 09-16-2011 06:25 PM

I want to do a 10 minute king size quilt for my DD.

Cagey 09-16-2011 06:42 PM

I have an Argyle design I need to get done for my DGD and a flannel one just for us to curl up with this winter - gets cold in Wisconsin! I also have some fall table runners I need to get done for fall craft fairs.

earthwalker 09-16-2011 10:03 PM

A quilt called "Portuguese Tiles" by M'Liss Rae Hawley. It is for my Mother's birthday which is at the end of October....I have the fabric, but haven't even washed it yet. The big problem is I have no time to myself just now, my step-Dad died suddenly on the 2nd of this month, which was a very sad time...there was the funeral on the 13th and other very major family dramas/disasters....My sister and I are in constant contact and neither of us are spending any time at our homes whilst we support and help Mum as well as taking care of some other family business. As I type, my brilliant husband is off to Mum's to fix a gushing tap (she lives 40 mins away)....I haven't been by the QB for ages and can't even do a bit of hand-work in the evenings. I only got a chance to visit today as I needed to do some computer maintenance whilst my washing cycle was on. Miss you quilters heaps.....wish me luck on my quest for quilt start....yet alone completion!

teacherbailey 09-17-2011 02:40 AM

I've started a scrappy Night and Day by Eleanor Burns (no, directions for scrappy are not in the book so I had to figure them out but will share if you PM me...) and I want to get the top finished by the end of the year. All batiks, about 1/2 of the strips are done and still need to buy more for the other 1/2 of the quilt.....

Amythyst02 09-17-2011 02:45 AM

I would be happy to finish just one...or even get started on it.

sueisallaboutquilts 09-17-2011 04:04 AM

I really want completed quilts for my 3 boys. Wish me luck!

Have a GFG started...would like to finish it...so far have 50 single row flowers completed and a gozillion white hexes basted ready to use.

I have a giant (actually two pieced) wilderness quilt, Rustle Russell (story quilt), Family Challenge quilt, McKenna Ryan's KaBloom, and Toni Whitney's Flo Flo. With a couple of weeks off in January, I want them ready for 8 to 10 hours per day of satin stitching. It's all in the preparation!!

ellenmg 09-17-2011 04:07 AM

I want to finish the one that is my avatar here. Yes, I love it, but it is like cooking a large meal. by the time it gets on the table you are sick of it...Still have some quilting and the binding to do.
I did a lot of hand quilting on the central portion and did large leafy vines on the outer sections, with the same color thread as fabric. Now I wish I had reversed the thread, but no way will I redo all of it. It is a bit too plain for me now. I tend to go simple but maybe I need to be more bold in my ideas....<sigh>If anyone has suggestions as to how to punch it up some, I am all ears!
My DS wants a new quilt "before the cold weather" so I am working on that.

JNCT14 09-17-2011 04:33 AM

I want to finish the hexangonal quilt I am doing with the appliqued Mexican tile designs - of course that and the baby quilt, tablerunner, placemats and then the Christmas stuff - maybe a New Year's resolution? Haha!!!!

Bless you, Naomi, you are a wonderful caregiver. I sure do wish some of us lived close enough to help you.

farmer623 09-17-2011 04:54 AM

I'd just love to get enough time to finish the one I've been working a year on. I'm doing the Lily Rosenberry quilt, and I'm so sick of berries, I could die. I don't want to ever do a berry again. I'm appliquing the borders now, but I made the mistake of putting the blocks together when I was sick because I have so little time, and they are not right, so I didn't save myself any time. Maybe someday . . . . .

irquilter 09-17-2011 05:14 AM

I have purchased at least 10 books with many quilts in them which I really really want to make, crazy I know but I love the planning and dreaming stage so much that I collect ahead so as never to be in danger of not having the right pattern for that fabric I dream of making into just the right quilt :o) I have several in mind right now the strip pieced basket quilt in one of Edyta Sitar's books, a wonderful tree and owl quilt from Whimsicals, and a fun scrap quilt to use up some of my mounting stash :o)

sarahconner 09-17-2011 05:44 AM

all my finished quilt tops

mimee4 09-17-2011 05:55 AM

I just cut all the strips for a planned scrappy Irish chain type quilt for my grandson and his girl friend who are getting married in December. I will hand quilt it and that's about all for the rest of this year. Next year, I really really want to make a bargello!

loves_2_quilt 09-17-2011 06:11 AM

I would like to finish the quilt for my bed. I have everything but the batting. The top and binding are ready to go and the backing is waiting to be washed, pressed, and sewn.

collady 09-17-2011 06:17 AM

The one I have designed for my antique Jenny Lind spool bed. I am waiting for the new mattress and box springs to arrive to get the exact measurements. I am having them custom made for the bed as it is slightly smaller than a standard double bed, being more than 100 years old!

Sunny580 09-17-2011 06:21 AM
