The problem with looking at it as 3 blocks is that you will have a seam line right through the center of the diamonds. I don't think that looks very good, so I would use the one-block approach.

I agree with dunster's layout out. It makes more sense and I would not want a seam in my diamond. It also makes for bulky seams when piecing the three blocks together. The less seams the better.

What great helpers we have here on the board. I love it, and when I am in a jam, someone here always bails me out. Thanx for the post and double thanx for all the great responses

It is very beautiful. As I've always said, "depending on which foot you are standing it is........." I like it, all of it.

I have no idea what it's call but, it very pretty.

Thanks for all the suggestions. You guys are great! Makes me want to make it. I just love this board - always someone there to help out.

This is really fun! And what a pretty quilt!!!

Dunster - please look at the original quilt and the 3 block solution again. I don't see a seam 'right in the middle of the diamond'. I THINK the original quilt does have a seam joining the kaleidescope-like piece and a triangle, so the 3 block solution works. Maybe I'm just 'seeing' things, though - LOL. My eyes are starting to glaze over after looking at all these pictures!
