Actually some of those well-known stores (Lands End in particular) got the same quilter-signed petition that Karey Bresenham took to Congress, and they were pressured enough to start selling USA made quilts for MUCH higher prices than the imports. But, after a few years I noticed they stopped carrying US quilts, probably because the buying public couldn't grasp the value, skill, materials cost, etc. of quilts we make here.

How many, many people I've advised about these imported quilts...in the past I've been bold about walking right up to someone in a store and pointing out the "made in" tag and giving my spiel. Not so interested in being on that soap box any more, I guess. Caveat emptor.

oh yeah.....imagine quilting for a living! I really don't believe anyone other than quilter knows what goes into making a quilt....and when I hear "oh I can buy something like that at (insert the store: WalMart, Target, Penneys) for soooo much cheaper", I see red. Uh huh.

why is it people think nothing of spending $1000+ on an appliance (fridge) that will last 20 years maybe, but balk at spending the same amount or less on a masterpiece that will be passed down for generations.
Oh that's right, it's only a bedspread.

I just pulled out my connecting threads catalog. Read it again...It says USA cotton. That doesn't mean the fabric is made in the USA, it means the cotton was grown in the USA. Just another gimmick to mess up our minds.
