I bought some Moda Bistro collection at a sale at my LQS but now I have no idea what to do with them. Each piece is either 1 yard or 2+ yards depending on what was left on the bolt. The plaid on the end is my ironing board not fabric ;-) Should I make a lap quilt if so what pattern, should I make placemats? LOL! What to do???? While you have your thinking caps on, how about this panel? Any ideas?

isnthatodd 06-18-2010 12:52 PM

The plaid looks like it fits right in :D The fabrics look like very welcoming placemats to go with coffe and donuts.

Beachbound 06-18-2010 12:53 PM

It does, doesn't it? Too bad I gave the last of it to my daughter. I wish I would have bought more of the end piece to make curtains...

amma 06-18-2010 12:56 PM

The two blue pieces would make a gorgeous hand bag :D:D:D

The other three would make a fun wall hanging with matching placemats.

I love the panel too!!!

BellaBoo 06-18-2010 12:56 PM

Look at this pattern:

http://lynbrown.com/?p=1671

For the panel I would cut the sections apart and add pieced quilt blocks (log cabin is my favorite for panels) made from coordinating fabrics.

twinstitchin 06-18-2010 01:19 PM

I would use the three browns/tan for one quilt and the other blue fabrics for another quilt. I would also use to panel for a lap quilt,I think victorian repro would look good with it.

quiltsRfun 06-18-2010 01:20 PM

That panel looks pretty complete to me. I love the floral border. I'd probably just add another outer border or two depending on what finished size you're going for.

ctack2 06-18-2010 01:22 PM

I also would cut the panel. The biggest part would make an awesome center for a lap quilt for someone that is sick.
Love the other ones, too. The brown ones would make nice appliance covers.

Sure!!! If I can make doll size quilt tops??
Seriously, that is some beautiful fabric!

Jim's Gem 06-18-2010 04:08 PM

That panel is so cute!!! I would probably cut that up too and add quilt blocks mixed in with them.
Not sure on the others.

hobo2000 06-18-2010 04:18 PM

The Moda Bistro I would make a 9 patch alternating with teacups and a wide 4-5 bands of the Latte-Capucino border and use it as a wall hanging in my kitchen.

QuiltingGrannie 06-18-2010 04:25 PM

Let's see, the coffee related ones need to go to Marsye for her coffee and donut shop.

Than panel needs to head my way - it would fit into my future LQS. To hang as a sample! It's beautiful. I'd have a hard time cutting it up.

And the blues on the end would make a nice start to a quilt, place mats or tote bag, or book covers.

Thank you for being sew generous with someone elses fabric!!

brushandthimble 06-18-2010 05:06 PM

They would look awesome in the yellow brick road pattern.

Pineapple Princess 06-18-2010 05:49 PM

You could make little mats to go under your coffee pot. If you have lots of fabric, it could make nice Christmas presents . :)

Make a lap Q w/the coffee theme, neutral background, Appliqued cups the shape of whats on the stripe and can be used on/for the border. (Hope that made sence)
Good Luck and Enjoy !! :)

Thanks for your lovely comments but sorry...there is no pattern brush and thimble!!, I got the idea from a quilt magazine, but all that consisted of was one large circle and 4 small circle blocks stitched together alternating in rows...boring!! So I just doodled on a piece of graph paper forming a random layout of 12" and 6" blocks, and by using the fabric cut away from the the back, created additonal circles which were slight smaller (I framed these in a contrasting fabric  )

Here is a link to the initial topic where you can see some close ups, just go for it!!

Izy has me thinking with those circles, what about Drunkard's Path?

Your welcome!!

tooMuchFabric 06-19-2010 07:29 PM

For the Bistro prints, how about aprons and hot pads and potholders and towel trims, all to match? Would make a smashing gift set, or a nice coordinated themed set for your own kitchen.

Or a wallhanging or tablecover for your favorite coffee-drinking nook, in the house, in the breakfast area, or outside on the porch.

I love the idea of a Drunkard's Path using these fabrics. I adore blue and brown combined in a quilt. You are lucky to have such a nice set of fabric!

sewnsewer2 06-19-2010 08:55 PM

Those fabrics are scrumptious!!

Fusion 06-20-2010 07:07 AM

a friend of mine just finished the panel. She embroidered the words and outlined some flowers and larger items with single DMC floss. Then found a bargin piece of fabric to just bind and back it for a wall hanging for her Daughter. It is really pretty.

OmaForFour 06-20-2010 07:24 AM

My idea for the panel is sell it to me! That is absolutely gorgeous and I am absolutely serious! PM me if you want to sell it. I would not mind even paying you a profit on that one.

awww, that is so tempting...I want to share....
how about if I just tell you it is from Benartex, the Garden Song collection? I just bought it last month on vacation so I am sure it is still available. They were still cutting the panels so it may be quite new. If you can't find it online PM me & I'll look up the name of the shop. I know they would be happy to mail you one.

While looking thru other posts, I saw this site; she is a member of this QB & has what you want!!!!
(lost the link to Favorite Fabrics...BRB!)

well, darn! I can't get it to link but her screen name is Favorite Fabrics so you can find her. She has a lovely web store.

I hadn't thought about that but it's a great idea! I am working on a lap quilt, pillows, table runner & wallhanging from the same designer (Nancy Halvorsen for Benartex) from last Christmas. It was from the I Believe collection. I got a panel as a gift & loved it so much I went out & bought another panel & about 10 yards of the go with fabric. That was a costly gift, lol!!! But I'm enjoying working with the collection. I've never done a collection before~ I usually just pick a little from here & a little from there ;-)

Come on over anyway! The pot is always on!

lillybeck 06-20-2010 12:01 PM

This would make a lovely pieced tablecloth and make a wall hanging or lap quilt from you other piece.

Jeri M 06-20-2010 01:00 PM

I just saw some wonderful pot holders at the LQS - your fabric would be perfect...
