I have a dear friend who is always sending me something. She just sent me four really nice books. I am making a small friendship quilt for her. She is a framer by trade and I am going to let her frame it. When I have it finished I will post a picture.

I LOVE my KINDLE>...... did you make the pattern or did you find pattern online ?
Today I read w/ the kindle........but should have been quilting....I have 3 lap quilts needed to be sandwiched.......

Now , I have a stretchy knit cover on my kindle.........cheap & does the trick !

Pattil 03-02-2010 04:55 AM

I just bought a quilting frame and I can't wait to use it. Have to find out what these "leader cloths" are suppose to be. I'm sooo excited to start,so I'll be taking some clases for sure.

vjengels 03-02-2010 07:51 AM

Pattil,
The leader cloths are what you attach the backing and top to then attach the leader cloth to the rails, so you can quilt to the edge.:)

Pattil 03-02-2010 09:13 AM

Ok I think I have it,but I still have to go and let them show me how to put them on. Thanks so much for the info.

dljennings--these are fantastic; thanks for sharing. My dear Auntie is in the hospital and may have a long recovery period--these would be perfect for me to make and send to her!

lots2do 03-02-2010 03:21 PM

dljennings-
Can you share the name of the quilt shop where you bought the patterns? Maybe they do business over the internet. I know I'd be interested in purchasing them.
Thanks,
lots2do

i get them from quilts & treasures in east longmeadow ma thier web site is www.quiltsandtreasuresinc.com...

i guess they do a new series every year.... i have mine for jan feb & mar 2010 being held, cause i haven't had the time to get over there....

my plan is to make a base quilt to put the ones from this year on, probably with buttons, around a black center rectangle for the current month...but then i won't have any for my desk, so i need to do another years worth!!!

lots2do 03-02-2010 04:15 PM

I'm getting ready to pick out material for my DIL's quilt called Gone Hunting. I know it has to have camoflague in it since they been decorating their room in mossy oak. Then I'm going to start my memory wall hangings.

today I need to add borders to the table runner I designed yesterday, and sew together 6 placemats I cut out yesterday.
Have already returned from a 2 hours class this morning teaching a baby quilt for Project Linus.

Camai Johnson 03-20-2010 10:17 AM

What's a pillowcase dress?

I am working on fabric baskets and thinking about my next quilt.

I need to finish a teacher tote bag for my granddaughter's teacher. (School closes next Friday !) Then I'll put border on 2 quilts, then maybe start another Downy quilt. Meanwhile, my mind is racing ahead to what projects I'll make for Christmas fairs. Now's the time to get started on them !!!!

Having just picked up the hook, what are you working on?

DebraK 06-29-2010 07:04 AM

I'm finishing up 5 more of these, using orphan blocks and scraps. My friends love these notebook journals.

I love your journal covers!! I need three small items for the end of Sept., I think I may make journal covers a little different than usual.

I'm making doll dresses for a fundraiser and thinking about autumn table runners!

renee765 08-02-2010 05:49 AM

I'm working on the second top of a set of baby quilts for my boss's twins - due in December. Both are girls, so the quilts are primarily pink and green.

arpdesigns28 08-02-2010 05:55 AM

Well, it's not a small project, but it is a project. I am working on stitch-in-the-ditch on a queen sized quilt. And, I am miserable right now. I read an article of how hard it is to sew a straight line. . . .well, I'm hating these ten ditch stitches right about now. I have no idea why this newbie-to-quilting quilter decided to do it instead of the free motion quilting that I was doing in the other section. No idea. Oh well, gotta learn. Thanks for the post and happy quilting!!! ;0)

dotcomdtcm 08-02-2010 05:57 AM

Big pat on the back for your ambition! A little at a time?

msuewhite 08-08-2010 05:23 AM

I am working on hand-pieced mini-blocks that I reduced in size. The original blocks were meant to be 9" square. I am making mine 6" square and won't make as many--probably 9 in all. It is the commercial pattern: "Copy-Cat Quilts" that are tessellated cats done in 2 main colors. A cat is seen right-side up, then, when turned upside-down, the opposite colored cat is seen. I am constructing it without templates, instead using strips of fabrics in the 2 main colors. Yes, quite a challenge! I don't see how to include a photo here so....

dotcomdtcm 08-08-2010 05:29 AM

Please post a photo in pictures. This board is the best way to learn & appreciate an online gallery!!

Thank you, I will. I am assembly-line piecing the blocks and haven't fully completed them yet. I will photograph the finished blocks for you. Then, after I assemble the blocks I will post a photo of that. I had this pattern many years ago when it appeared in, I think, the large Needlearts Magazine. But I have moved three times since and it got away from me. I searched for the pattern online and was blessed to find it. I found a photo of the pattern book and will try to add it here.
