My favorite is "Modern Neutrals" by Amy Ellis.

I also have a few of El Burns books. She is the best for easy ways to make quilts.
Never had to take classes, just watched her videos and bought her books.
Her triangle square up ruler is a must have. Also have her flying geese rulers.
