Since I'm kind of new to the quilting world, I like things that are mostly easy and move along quickly. I learn technique from these, and work on my skills. However, I do look longingly at the beautiful things that ya'll do, knowing (hoping) that someday, someday maybe I'll be that good, too!

New York Beauty is my absolute fav but I like so many. Irish Chain, Log Cabin, not too wild about art quilts, although I appreciate the artistry of them,

Moncia 02-06-2010 06:48 AM

Beautiful!

Can you tell us where we might find the Canterbury Crossing pattern? I didn't find it with a google search. It looks like just what I need to make a wedding quilt for my nephew and his bride

Log Cabin was the first one I fell in love with, but Grandmother's Flower Garden is really close in the running!

ME, too. At least it is my favorite to make and quilt.
I'd have a hard time picking a favorite from some of the quilts
I won't even try. I love the Double Wedding Ring, but I don't have the patience to cut all those pieces.

Before I pass this mortal coil, it is my dream to do Mariner's Compass. Edie

Actually, my favorite is any block that contains 1/2 square triangles. I love those little buggers! And you can change a pattern so easily. Edie

The Quilt that has remained in my memory every since is the Phonix Mosaic Quilt that won an award many years ago. Don't ask me where I was when I saw it but it stuck in my mind. I remember the blocks were one ince blocks. And every since then I've wanted to learn to quilt. And now thanks to a local quilting club I finally am.

I love any kind of star pattern, but found one in the Quiltmaker's magazine that I just repeat over and over. It is a scrap quilt in which each square has one fabric which you place in a different location. Each block is the same pattern, but because you use different lights and darks in different locations, each block looks totally different. It just fascinates me to see how it's going to turn out each time. I don't remember what they named it.

moomoo 02-06-2010 09:16 AM

log cabin and spider web

I hope you post pictures of it after you make it, it sounds wonderful!

I enjoy doing mormor and the great number of ways of color.

madhatter 02-06-2010 09:53 AM

Ive made several drunkards paths and remembering that the pieces go together as a pie alamode gets it done perfect everytime.

I love the simple 9-Patch. My Grandmother made hundreds of quilts using the 9-patch pattern. In the last 3 years of her life she made everyone in the family a 9-patch quilt. All of the quilts were made of recycled polyester fabrics. There are blocks made from her dresses and Grandpa's slacks. I grew up with going to quilting bees and helping Grandma cut out thousands of blocks for her 9-Patch quilts.

I hand sewed a 9-Patch quilt top a couple of years ago. It was so much fun. As I cut and stitched the blocks I remembered times that I spend with Grandma making quilts.

What a wonderful memory. To me, that is what life is all about.

Lovely to look at, nice job.

polly13 02-06-2010 11:27 AM

I think I will need help posting pictures. I've never done that before, but will love to learn.

Karenmay 02-06-2010 11:28 AM

My favourite block has to be a scrappy Dresden plate! I love it!

I love the traditional quilt patterns, especially the scrappy looks. These also allow me to work with all the fabrics I have on hand and the leftovers from different projects.

I vote for Broken Dishes

I've never seen (or made) a Log Cabin I didn't LOVE!

cyd 02-06-2010 08:24 PM

Star patterns are terrific-especially like variations of Ohio Star.

CRH 02-06-2010 08:33 PM

My favorite pattern is always one I haven't made yet. After I make one, I usually don't want to do it again.

WalMartGranny 02-06-2010 08:40 PM

My favorite is still Ohio Star.

OHSue 02-06-2010 08:52 PM

Log Cabin, so verstale, easy to do.

Moncia 02-07-2010 08:35 AM

Log Cabin is my favorite block, but I like all blocks probably.

Dragonfly Nana 02-07-2010 02:10 PM

I'm with omak....love the piecing and hesitate on the quilting. Don't get me started on binding.... :hunf:

Dragonfly Nana 02-07-2010 02:27 PM

Thank you. I found it in the Nov 2009 "The Quilter" magazine. It is by Michelle Crawford

zennia 02-07-2010 02:32 PM

My favourite pattern is 'Blooming Nine Patch'

bjdemir 02-07-2010 09:17 PM

Only quilting for about 1-12 years so no favorite yet. Just want to try out a lot. Do like the stars through.

katherine p 02-07-2010 10:35 PM

My favorite quilt is called Godseye/String quilt. Made this in blues. Another favorite is Courthouse Steps which was very pretty in lavenders and purples.

LINANN 02-08-2010 06:14 AM

I just saw the Jacobs Ladder pattern for the first time. I think it is my favorite. I would like to make it but I cannot find a pattern. I do not know what size to make the blocks. Does anyone have a patter for this square?

Thanks
Linda

judi wess 02-08-2010 06:42 AM

My fave is Jack in the Pulpit. I saw it in a quilt airing on a neighbor's clothes line. The pattern is at least 80 years old and great for creating trellis quilts.
