your favorite quilting pattern?
Jacob's ladder
My favorite block is bow ties. Fast and easy. It can be controlled or scrappy. There are many layout possibilities.
I actually 2 I love equally. Storm at Sea and Ohio Star.

I'll have to look at these, I gor stuck on yellow brick road. Am getting kind of tired of it.
Keep the ideas coming. |
definitely the log cabin block and crazy quilt block, I like that they are both easy to put together and there are so many variations!

to date it is "Canterbury Crossing" I made it for my son for Christmas and he loved it.

Mariner's Compass and Storm at Sea

Beautiful quilt
Thank you. Sorry the pic is so big
Double Irish Chain.
I don't think I have a favorite ... I quilt because I like the colors and the angles and the fact that my effort produces a practical product ...
:?: :?: :?: I would have to say whatever I am working on at the moment is my new favorite ... scrappy is the style ;-) <wave> |
While I love many, my favorite has to be log cabin and all the various ways it can be put together.
Double wedding ring. Love it... want to make one... want to own lots... love them!
Renee, i seem to be following you! I agree with you, the simple log cabin with all its variations is one of my very favorite patterns.
But my all time favorites are very complicated patterns that are beautiful, and so complicated that I feel absolutely no need to do them myself! (See all the time I saved!) |
I have two as well ... Crossed canoes amd burgoyne surrounded.
I have tons I like, but I consider the Log Cabin a real prize quilt. I love the way you can do so much with it, and I also like that it's what I call a "quilter's quilt" - I think we can appreciate them more than the average person!!
I see the words, community benefactor and communicator. What do these mean, plz?
I like log cabin, crazy quilts, quilts showcasing a needlework or applique to make. I guess you could say I like the picture (fussy cut) quilts.I love the look of the Dresden Plate. I have no desire to make the complicated angle, triangle quilts but I do appreciate the amount of work involved.

The Bear Paw. I however call it the dog paw. :-D

There are a few that I dislike or else I have yet to see them used in a quilt that I like. There are a few that are so optically illusional (such as Tumbling Blocks and Bargello) that they make me dizzy and nauseated. I greatly admire the work, the fabric selections, the skill required to create a Bargello quilt, but they make me physically ill to look at them. I don't think I have a favorite, though, because the color choices and the block/piece layout of a quilt makes all the difference in the world. I'm not normally a big fan of Drunkard's Path in all its many layout options, but they had a DP quilt displayed on the local hospital lobby wall last year that was one of the most gorgeous quilts I have ever seen. I came back a few months later with my camera, but they had replaced that quilt with another one, dang it! I waited too long. I did a sketch when I first saw it, but the sketch is a bit "iffey".
Pinwheel is my favorite block. I love the way they seem to be so free flowing. They remind me of the swings at amusement parks, my favorite ride for the same reason - because swings make me feel free flowing. Wheeeeeeee!!
Pickle Dish.
Log Cabin or its Courthouse Steps variation -- both blocks play well together, and you can do so many different things.
Beautiful quilt, Dragonfly Nana; your son is lucky!! |

I like all the simple designs. I enjoy the quilting and binding more than piecing so I'm always in a hurry to finish the piecing (get it over with).

I'll bet, in your area, you will find a friend that compliments your likes/dislikes/talents and abilities! You would be a quilter's dream, I would think! <wave> |

I don't think i have a favorite, i love lots of them, some i have made, some are on my wish list. One i really love, but have not made, due to curves is the drunkards path, someday i will make a pink and white one....someday :)
We have 6 kids and 8 grands living in Tacoma area. When we move back (someday) we'll have group quilting days at my house. We have a small Winnebago so there will be a bed for you.
I like almost any pattern but most prefer to quilt on a wholecloth where the quilting stitch it's self makes the quilt. I prefer bright or pastel colors over stuff like Thimbleberries. The red and green combinations are always one of my favorites especially in the Baltimore Alblum modes. I like to let the colors and the size or theme of the prints dictate the pattern.
I love Storm at Sea. I've made a practice block, but I'm not there yet. I also love Bargello. We hope to do a small Bargello project soon.

I love the Ohio Star, Churn Dash, and Log Cabin.
I have 2 spare bedrooms MaryStoaks. 1 room for you and 1 for sewing. Which would also be your room.
Dresden Plate. I haven't made it yet but want to make it out of 30's fabrics.
