All of the above lol

TanyaL 09-08-2011 05:21 PM

Cutting mat, scissors, rotary cutter, thimble, scotch tape, measuring tape, assorted grid ruler, 6" steel ruler, pins, needles, iron and Netflix

Kath12 09-08-2011 06:20 PM

I would add my magnetic pick up tool and my Gopher Grab It tool(I'm always dropping things). I also like my Eleanor Burns square up ruler as well as the other tools mentioned in prior messages

Hello from Northern Iowa, I have acouple of questions for you. 1. What part of S.D. are you from, My family are from Carthage, Desmet & Ree Heights...2. what do you use the beeswax for...I'm new to quilting and I use all of your list except the beeswax...

It's usually purple in colour and it's like a stiletto. It's not very expensive somewhere between $5 to $8 and available at most QS. I use it to feed little pieces of fabric into your feed dogs, or holding onto little pieces. Works great.

Thread snips and scissors and seam ripper.

alikat110 09-08-2011 07:54 PM

Don't forget glue and painters tape!

TanyaL 09-08-2011 08:27 PM

Beeswax is used to strengthen thread so you can it through those needle eye holes that you can hardly see! It keeps it from flopping down just as you think it should be going straight through the hole. Just as you are starting to have your eye cross. LOL

This was the very first thing that popped in my head when I read the message title....and it is so true. lol.

Some of the above PLUS one of my very favorite things, Fork Pins by Clover. These are two-pronged pins (think bobby pin shape). Place your pieces together, butt the seams, and pin with one of these. I am picky about my piecing and using these have really helped with perfect joins and points.

How, pray tell, do you use fabric softener sheets when hand sewing???

i know some people use these when they do applique but please be careful because some people are allergic to them and the fact that they have gone thru washing machine cycles does not remove the powerful chemicals[/quote]

FYI Before I re use my dryer sheets, I take a bunch of them and soak in sink till all the remainder of product (and perfume) soak out, then when dry. press them with a very low heat iron. Works wonders for crazy quilt foundation block. :D

I love all sorts of notions, but I am always drawn to the new rulers. They can make such easy work of a project, then cutting matts and cutters. That reminds me, I need a new for quilt camp
