Hi! I am making this quilt for my sister, and it really has a mind of its own. I made 12 blocks which I floated using a green material. I am adding a off white border in between the green blocks, with a color block where the border meets. What would you suggest I do for the outer border? I have lots of colored scraps from the central blocks, which I made using noodles. I can not get more of this fabric. (Moda's Fresh Squeezed, but I am on a super tight budget and can't afford to order it online right now, especially if I want to get it quilted.) I have about half a yard of the white fabric which I *might* be able to get more of. I am stumped, and want to finish it up so I can get it quilted in time for Christmas!

Drat. Since I post using my cell phone's internet, the forum is being a stinker. Would someone let me email you a couple pictures to post? Thanks!

I am not opposed to getting morer fabric, but wish I could make use of my leftover noodles.

A suggestion I have is go onto the swap/classified board if you have something like the noodles to exchange for some of the Moda Fresh.
Or the white fabric?

Could you make a rainbow border? Eleanor Burns did that on her sampler number one which aired last Friday. You take your left over strips and sew them together in a pleasing way, and then you cut them apart at the width plus seam allowances that you want for the border. If you didn't have quite enough strips to do that you could add a couple of different fabrics in colors that match as well. http://www.sewntogetherquilters.com/...t_pattern.html The link will take you to a border like the one I'm talking about.

You also might try to make a Pioneer Braid with your leftover strips, here's a link where you can see what that looks like http://www.quiltville.com/pioneerbraidborder.shtml if you google "Quilt Pioneer braid" you can find the directions.

I think a scrappy border would work with these blocks. :D Here are pictures of the blocks:

Isn't it the funniest bright fabric? My sister picked out the pattern and colors, but has no idea that I making it for her.

Keep in mind I am new at this, so ignore all the mistakes!

I love the fabric. I"d use all your leftovers and make a scrappy border like suggested. I think it will really pull out all those great colors!

Oh I pressed like a mad woman. When you have a 300lb cat "helping" you take pictures, things get wrinkley. I guess I just need more practice, practice, practice...

I think its beautiful.....you could get some stripe fabric that has the main colors.
Can I see your fat cat...love the big guys
