I see it as your quilt.
You made it; you gave it away; the receivers chose to give it away; your angels brought it back into your hands. It's yours. No need to "tell" anyone.

I think it's pretty cool, actually!

Yeah, okay.

Thank you ALL.
I feel much better about keeping it. And I am delighted it 'found it's way home.'

This is one of those crazy things.
So I say to myself, What if this were me?
Here's what I would do:
Treasure the refound quilt like Lassie-Come-Home!
It could have ended up in so many such worse ways.
It's not likely it went to the charity in error.
So keep it and know it has come back to a good home.

Better yet send it to me, I love it already, I live at......
.

Wow, I thought when I read your story that you had been scammed out of $20 for shipping. I thought 'those folks will always think up a new game'. But no, you met a wonderful woman. SO GLAD that you had a name label!!! Good lesson for all of us. No, don't mention to your family that the gift was returned to you. Someday it may come up, or they may see it your house, then you'll know the full story. Until then, be happy that it's yours again.

I would keep it too.

I agree, don't say anything, even though you made the quilt as a gift, it was REALLY intended for you to have. Make something for the angel who returned it to you.

I know it must have given you mixed feelings. I am sorry it had to work out this way for the couple who had to give it up and for you knowing they couldn't keep it. It would be hard for me to bite my tongue but I think that is the right thing to do.
I also vote to keep it, say nothing and assure it is visible at any gathering one of them might attend. We do not know what else they may have had to give up at the same time. No, I wouldn't be making them one for their silver anniversary.
Thank you for sharing with us. It is a possible reality for each of us, we just don't all get to know it.

I know when we give a quilt away we are supposed to really let it go,
but when I saw the specially designed crochet afghan I made for dear friend packed up in the hall linen closet for years and then one day lying frayed and ragged in the dog's bed, I was hurt nonetheless.
Still a dear friend, but will never again receive a made gift from me.

I would not say anything....how do you "misplace" a quilt?
It is so nice that you got it back and that someone took that kind of time to find you.
