I definitely would leave a negative feedback - the seller is gambling that you will take the order even if it is short - you should have at least had the option to decide for yourself.

You could do a log cabin too. Either alternate the center block with the two you have, or you could use a pale yellow in the center square. That would be pretty.

I have to agree with barking-rabbit.

Agree!

I would contact the seller and tell her you were disappointed in the way it was handled. She should not have assumed that you could get by with a lesser amount than what she actually listed in the auction and should have contacted you immediately when she discovered her mistake. Depending on her response, I would base my feedback accordingly. I don't think I would leave negative but lesser stars are appropriate. People tend to accept mistakes much more easily if the seller is just upfront with them!

That is exactly how I feel. I mean, if she'd emailed me and said "I'm sorry, there's been a mistake and I only have 5 1/2 yards. Do you want me to go ahead and send it?" I would have told her to go ahead and send it. The lack of communication and assumption is what bothers me about the whole thing, not so much that there was a mistake in general.

I would contact the seller, and find out if you can return the 5.5 yds, if you don't want it. That will show good faith on the sellers part to let you out of the auction. But if you like the fabric and the 5.5 yda will work, maybe the seller, thought you would have wanted it anyway.
Before leaving negative feedback, give them the chance to make good on the deal to satisfy you the customer.
Good Luck.

I meant to say, I would leave a negative feedback and then contact the seller

Also told me since I was new to ebay I couldnt leave a negative review. My sister in law has an ebay business and in so many words gave her "what for" dont know what will happen next. Just want my pattern.

ebay usually backs what is sold, contact ebay and they will usually refund your money taking it back from the seller. Had something like this happen to my father in law and ebay took care of it.. good luck

I would contact her directly and explain that although it might not be a problem this time, as a sewer you wanted her to realize it could be and suggest to her she contact the buyer before shipping in the future. I would leave feedback based on quality of product, shipping ease, etc.

If you leave a neutral feedback, they can also leave one on you... it could end up hurting your ratings. I guess I would have to ask myself if this is really worth it? :D:D:D

That's kind of what I was thinking. I mean, I love the fabric (it was just shipped today, so I'm hoping the quality is as good as the looks of it, lol), and it should be more than enough (it's for a OBW, I *need* 3-ish yards. I won't be able to "double up", but I can use the rest of the fabric in other elements of the project). I was thinking to just send an email to the seller to mention my disappointment, and leave feedback based on the product alone (which other people who have used this fabric say it is good quality).

She has already left feedback for me, which is simply "glowing"...I hate to be a cynic, but I wonder if it is *because* of the short cut...know what I mean?

As a seller AND a buyer, I ask that any problems be emailed to me directly, instead of using the feedback forum to air differences. It's a hard call as to what to do as a seller...ship or email and wait. Everyone has different ideas. If everything else about your transaction is good, I'd give positive feedback, 1 star on communication with the seller, and let it go at that. If you have room, could make mention that seller communication is poor.
