Thanks everyone! I am searching though my stash for the other 7 bags. I am hoping to assembly line sew them up and have them ready to fill with goodies for the holidays. I ordered a spa set for one of them. I am thinking of filling another with foot care/soak things. Then there is one I plan on giving as a lunch bag type. With plastic lining and little plastic containers as the fillings.

That is as far as I have gotten. But, it really is the ideal size for gifting most anything.

Thank you all so much for cheering me on and all the lovely comments and suggestions. I appreciate you girls so much.

Did you see the front of the magazine I posted on the thread? (page 2) It shows what the magazine looked like. It was Better Homes and Gardens, Quilting Ideas, spring2001.

I think it would make a great jewelry bag. Very pretty.

The bag is gorgeous and the possibilities are endless for any time of year, but a great Christmas gift bag.

Your bag is beautiful. I totally love it & would use it for a purse. The pockets would be perfect for your cell phone, keys, coupons etc. I think it would be a very usable bag.

This is close, just need to add outside pockets, which shouldn't be too hard.

Great looking bag. At my house it would be come a kitty hide out or nest. :o I would hate to use it for that exclusively but that is what came to mind.

Mariposa 09-15-2013 11:02 AM

Red, that gorgeous bag would be great in my sewing room! ;) They will make lovely gifts no matter what's inside.

Very pretty bag!

Very cute, and beautifully made! DebbE has great suggestions for what to put inside. A movie or game night theme might be fun, too: A DVD, microwave popcorn, deck of cards, theatre passes, etc. Or "girl" stuff -- socks, makeup, soft houseshoes, manicure set, fragrance, soaps, etc.

Here is the magazine cover girls. Maybe that will help you find it easier. It seems to me that I saw it in one of their other publications that was only purses and bags. But, I can not remember the name of that soft cover book.

Love your bag! Found a copy on eBay!

First of all I must say what a darling bag. I agree with most of the post here. Customize them to each person. Find out there favorite colors or find fabrics that represent their interest and then fill those puppies up with goodies for their hobbies or interests. The possibilities are endless regardless of age. Younger girls would love them full of cosmetics, hair accessories, and such. More mature ladies would love them with hobbies items. I could image receiving one filled full of quilting items and done in a novelty fabric of the many cutsie things I love. Just have fun with them and most of all add something that smells good to each of them like hand lotions or a small bottle of bathwash.

Absolutely adorable - are to you open to adopt? :D - I'm available. I think they could be used for hold just about anything - toiletries, sewing items, goodies. Whatever is in it would be a great gift.

You need to go back thru and read the posts as the pattern is not online. The OP provides the name of the magazine and a picture of the cover. Then track down a copy. I found it on ebay, there were others listed for sale there.

RedGarnet222 09-16-2013 08:08 AM

I am so glad you found a copy paper princess. I saw the copy on E Bay for sale too. Page two (of this thread) has the picture of the spring issue of the magazine cover. You girls in a guild might ask around to your fellow quilter's. You never know.

Thanks so much for the sweet comments girls. Good luck with your hunt.

Your bag is really nice! I'm almost tempted to try to make bags also. Does anyone have any blogs or sites that have free patterns to make?

quiltjoey 09-17-2013 06:19 PM

Beautiful bag, Red! I love the deep purple color and butterflies!!

RedGarnet222 09-21-2013 08:15 AM

Thank you so much! For the gals who found the pattern (magazine), have fun and use the prettiest fabrics you can find. It seems to make a big difference.

lynnie 09-21-2013 09:35 AM

Oh Red, I just can't stop looking at it, it's so beautiful and you do such nice work, I can't wait to see the others you're making. it's just so pretty.

RedGarnet222 09-21-2013 12:15 PM

I found the pattern for the bag. Not exact, but so close. The pocket is much larger on this one but you could make it shorter if you want one like mine.

Oh it is down to row forty or so on the far left. So funny... I was looking for something completely different and ran across it.

couldn't help it, had to come look again

RedGarnet222 09-24-2013 05:03 PM

LOL lynnie! Your so sweet.

It looks like a bingo bag to me. My sister has one but it's vinyl . Your bag is pretty.

KLO 09-25-2013 01:44 PM

Just checked my magazines that I have been saving forever and I cannot believe that I found it!!! Yippee! I recently reorganized all my mags after moving and got rid of a lot so I couldn't believe that I had kept this one. I am not thinking Christmas gifts also. Thanks so much RedGarnet222 for posting your photo and encouraging all of us.

RedGarnet222 09-27-2013 07:59 AM

Your so welcome! I am so glad you found it!

TeresaS 09-27-2013 08:01 AM
