I've been cleaning my machine religiously since it was new. However the other day
I used a pipe cleaner where I couldn't reach and boy did I find more lint. Thanks
to the person on QB who gave this tip. I will definitely use the pipe cleaner more
often.

JenelTX. My machine did exactly the same this morning, skipping stitches yet I had been sewing perfectly normally with it the day before. Are they telling us they want a day off.
Ps solved my problem by changing the thread.

You might want to try a different bobbin. Even the plastic ones can get wonky.

Check the bobbin case. Especially right where the tension screw is. I found a tiny piece of lint there and it was messing up my machine. Just one tiny lint ball was all it took.

Along with changing the thread, make sure your thread is not rotten! A lot of us have thread that has been hanging around our sewing rooms for awhile, it does not have very long life span hanging around on a spool. Even when you buy a spool of thread from the store, it can be rotten. (I recently purchased a spool of serger thread that was rotten, it nearly drove me mad until I switched spools.)

Mine did that awhile back and like to have drove me up the wall trying to figure out what was wrong. Turns out I had bought some plastic bobbins that were for a Singer. Even though they looked just alike, they did not work in my Brother. Go figure!

Ok it must be the week for ALL machines to cause problems. Went in to sew the other day, and mine was all out of sorts. It would only sew in one place, it would not move. Then when I took my foot off the pedal it kept sewing!! So I tried everything, checked everything, and same thing. I called the repair guy, he had me test it, using the button on the machine to run it, same thing. He says, looks like you will have to bring it in, sigh I am in the middle of still making Christmas presents. A few hours later I was changing thing around to get it ready to go the shop the next morning, and tried it again, and it worked fine!!!!!! So now I am back to sewing.

I hope yours felt refreshed the next day and is running smoothly for you now. I think they just need a bit of time off sometimes : )....

I know it was suggested earlier in this thread, but I would definitely change the needle. I recently read about a thread where a quilter was using the wrong size needle for the thread she was using and that cause her all kinds of problems as well. Hope you get your problem fixed.

My machine has done that also and I have learned that in that situation, it's asking for a break. That usually happens when it's been on for a long time. Now I shut it off when I get up to do some cutting, pressing or anything else. Megan, that could have been your situation also. Hope you're making out well now.
