Shopping, making lunch for DH when he comes in from mowing our dead fields, nap, and in between all that work on my what seems to be interminable stained glass quilt. I am getting bored at this point but hope I will cheer up when I finish this grind part. Then, dinner and back to the quilt until bed time. No cleaning of house today. Tomorrow will be clean house day.

Already did it....got the final results from my Dr...still cancer free so am good for another year! Have quit worrying who's going to finish all my quilts and am starting a new one! It's a good day!

athomenow 09-20-2011 03:21 PM

Good for you! That is fabulous news, now get going on the new quilt!

rosiewell 09-20-2011 03:37 PM

VernaL 09-20-2011 04:54 PM

My husband and I are painting the outside of our house. That means scraping old paint, filling any cracks/holes, putting on two coats of primer and 2 coats of paint on the trim and 2 coats of paint on the stucco, even some restuccoing. Thank goodness our house is one story, but it is a lot of work.

I "got" to go to work today (love my job), then home to work in my yard. Also cleaned both our vans, swept both decks, and visited with some friends. Will work on a quilt binding tonight (three of us had a part in making it), and we're donating it to the local hospital for a raffle at their Fall Festival. I LOVE LIFE!!!

Debbie C 09-20-2011 07:14 PM

Well it's after 11pm so I guess I'll write what I did do today....Food shopping, banking, drove back home to wash breakfast dishes (I don't own a dishwasher), made the bed, cleaned the three litter boxes (I have 6 kitties), made chicken soup from scratch, made two chicken pot pies, wrapped gifts for my youngest dd's 22nd birthday which is tomorrow, pinned two gift quilts in prep for hand quilting, set up my new quilting frame, folded the whites and towels. Fed my dh, showered and now I'm just enjoying a few minutes online but need sleep. I hope to begin quilting tomorrow as these two quilts are gifts for October events.

Debbie C 09-20-2011 07:16 PM

that's wonderful news, Lynn! Stay strong!!

We are in the process of some remodeling, due to a tree falling on the roof of an addition to our house. So, the electrician was here on Monday to add outlets and switches to a room that will become my new sewing room. Yah, going from a portion of a 10x12 room I shared with the computer, to having a 12x20, just for sewing. Anyway, we had decided to sheet rock the-new to me, sewing room, but the electrician needed to check the wiring in the office, used to be sewing room, and said that it would be a lot easier, if we tore off the not so nice paneling, so he could get to the wiring easier, so that was my morning's job. I have a blister on a finger from pulling nails out. But, the wiring is all done, and safe now. The reason we took his suggestion, was because when he was doing the rewiring in the bigger room, he pointed out so many fire hazards that were part of the old wiring, that we just knew that for safety's sake, we had to bring the wiring up to code in the smaller room, and so glad we did. I will sleep better at night now.
Sorry to have rattled on for so long, but that was my day. Oh, I also snuck[is there such a word?] in a few minutes to get some more blades sewn for a Dresden fan quilt. Just can't go one day without my quilting fix. LOL

woohoo! A reason to celebrate with a new quilt top!! I know the feeling of that once a year exam, and the words "See you next year." It's a true blessing.

HummerGardenCrafts ... please tell us about your craft house ... I'm thrilled with my craft room.

I bought the house next door to us. It came up for sale. It's above us. And we didn't want any neighbors that close. It has a basement and a second floor. It used to be the post office in this area years ago. Part was a post office and part was the house they lived in. It all looks like a house now.

I have my sewing machine in the kitchen. That's where my work area is at. I have my quilting frames in the one bedroom downstairs. The bed that is in that room is full of UFO's that have to be completed.

The diningroom and the living room are full of fabrics and things I've made. I open up when there's holidays on the weekends.

I may put my embroidery machine upstairs. And get it set up to use.

I still have tons of things to get out of boxes. I want my hubby to build me some bookshelves upstairs. So I can get all of my books, patterns and magazines up there. A good place to set and look through them.

I love the little built in porch! I set out there a lot and work on stuff by hand. Great place to put a binding on a quilt. I've got one laying there that is almost done.

The bad part is, I have a little small quilt house too! It's over top of the cellar. My hubby built that for me. It's full of my yarns and some craft supplies.

And I have a room in the house here so full of craft supplies. There's no way I'll ever use it all. I'm hopeing sooner or later I can get it all up to the big Quilt House. We will see.

But I love it up there. I can just craft away with no disturbances. And plenty of room if someone comes to sew with me.

Oh that is such great news!!!!!! Congratulations!!!!

HummerGardenCrafts 09-21-2011 06:30 AM

Let me see if I can remember what all I got done in the past two days.

Monday- Was such a mixed up day. Hubby was to work night shift. Got called and had to go out of town for the week to work. So I got forced to have to go to town. Bank, dollar store and the grocery store. I cooked a pot of elk chunks to make soup. That got canceled and I made BBQ's instead. With him going to be gone, there would be know one here to eat the soup. So I'll do it again when he's going to be home. I stopped at the post office. Got packages shipped out. Stopped and dropped off some crafts to go in the shop and pick up a check from last week. So I didn't get hardly anything done with crafts Monday. Not what I wanted too!

Tuesday - I painted and I'm almost done with another load of things. Now to get me some clear plastic bags to put my candy corn in. I think I'll do them three to a set. Might do them a little different in some bags too! I still have to finish my candy canes. I sewed a little on my postage stamp top. I'm getting there. It's slow going working on it by hand. I'm not getting done what I want to with my crafts. It's another rainy day today. Been setting and rocking one of my little doggies also. He's down in his back. I'm not looking forward to having to make a decision on his part. But I'm not going to watch him suffer all the time either.

Wed. Today, I have been sewing on my postage stamp top. Been on the phone with my Mom. She's going to see a Dr. this morning. She is not doing to well. She would of done good if it hadn't of been for the heart attack she had during surgery. I'm waiting on news of that. I got a lot of you answered on here. Still need to check some PM's. Then it's back to crafting. I may go paint. I want to get those things done. Oh I forgot!!!! I've just about got my Santa's eyes done. Then I can start putting hair and stuff on. Then make the clothes. I'll be glad to get these done. Hope the lady like them. I'll take a pic when I'm done.

Those of you working on Christmas gifts. The addy I put in for the rag ball ornie, you should go to it. I think you can still pull up the rest of Trish's things. Any ways she may have a tuterial on her pocket tissue holder. Good way to use up scraps. And they fit perfect in Christmas cards as a little giftie.

I'll be back!

purplefiend 09-21-2011 10:52 AM

I'll be finishing the quilting on a baby quilt. I finished another one last night. My Pfaff 1222 E will be doing the quilting and binding. The quilts are for "The Linus Connection", they have an
annual challenge quilt contest. The Timeless Treasures fabric rep. gives us her retired fabric samples. This year we got a good sized packet of batiks. Its been fun figuring out how to use the fabrics.

Well today I was to leave & fly to St. Louis Missouri for a Babylock Jewel class on my longarm. My plane left at 9am without me. I have been working hard for the last week on getting all my work done on my job, all bookkepping & payroll completed for my DH's company, sewing a quilt top for a raffle, getting my children (1 dog & 2 cats) ready for boarding, sewing two 36 by 45 quilt tops for the class and I just worked myself into exhaustion!

I had to travel 70 miles to the airport so I was to get up at 5am and travel 1 1/2 hours to the airport. Well I slept through my alarm. It was still going off when I woke at 7am! And the airline wanted another $400.00 to get me there today. Well there is next month....

In the meantime, I need to make place mats for an auction. Since I am off today, that is what I will do.

HummerGardenCrafts 09-21-2011 06:05 PM

You ladies are working circles around me right now. I'll catch up. I did sew some on my postage stamp today. Hopefully I can get something done tomorrow. If my Mom gets out of the hospital. She is suppose to. But I don't count on those suppose to's any more.

HummerGardenCrafts 09-22-2011 06:09 PM

I spent a lot of this morning trying to find the stray kitty's kittens. The one I named Ragamuffin. They are in the building way up in a corner. I can't get my plump tush where they are. I fixed her a box with a quilt in it. I'm hopeing she will put them in the box and get out of the dirt.

I painted today. Went up to my quilt house and fixed up some postage stamps to put in the mail next time I go out. Which should be Monday. Still have to cut out some more to finish another swap.

I cut some prim stars out of green homespun. Got those pinned on the panels of the rag Christmas tree skirt. I got all the stars sewn on. And have I think four or five panels sewn together. Oh, I can't wait to get this done and get it clipped. Soon as I get it done, I'll post a picture.

I had to hunt some things up to bring down here to the house. Bring my santa clothes fabric. But I don't think I'm happy with the fabric. I will probably get a different fabric to make the clothes out of.

I have been on the phone a lot today. Some business and some family matters.

Now I'm listening to an audio book and getting ready to sew some.
