Quilt Mom 02-28-2011 05:29 AM

I am going to fit the lining, then cut the satin, for my daughter's wedding dress.

RhondaKay 02-28-2011 05:29 AM

Organizing... and finishing a quilted pillow I made from scratch for my daughter then put the binding on the quilt I made for my grand-daughter.
I LOVE QUILTING!
:)

damaquilts 02-28-2011 05:31 AM

Well first thing this morning is clean up. Took the dog for a walk and feeling much better about working on this thing. My problem is I just jump into things and make it up as I go along. I need to stop that. lol I am going to plan out this sewing kit and get it done. Today!

Venice 02-28-2011 05:36 AM

I have some not sooooo pretty fabric that I have to find a pattern for. Don't really know what the customer was thinking but wow, what a weird assortment. Maybe I will post a pic of the fabric later and see if yo guys will give me ideas.

ga447 02-28-2011 05:37 AM

Wow, I think it is great that you are working on your daughter's wedding dress.

dottie 02-28-2011 05:45 AM

Our guild is having a work day. We are going to cut out 6 hour quilts to make for charity. Each member will then take home 2 kits to sew and bring back when they are completed.
We have about 2 charity workshops per year.

I am going to try to work on the tension for my SERATA hand crank sewing machine, so I can sew with it.

We go back to North Carolina next weekend to clean the carpets and meet with the realtor to list it. Keeping our fingers crossed that it sells soon, even if it is a short sell. When we moved from Indiana to Virginia we had to pay both rent and mortgage for 15 months. Hoping this goes much quicker.

Best of luck that you sell it soon.

Good luck to you also. This is a crummy market these days!

When we bought that house almost 5 years ago, we thought that we would be retiring there. And then DH's job disappeared - thanks Obama. Thankfully (and I thank God everyday) his job contract was up but he was able to transfer within the company. So we did not have to suffer the lose of pay or benefits. Seven years ago he was fired/layedoff after 16 years with no notice, no severance and no benefits. Nothing is secure anymore - except the fact we are all paying for other people's mistakes.

MyGigiQuilts 02-28-2011 05:54 AM

Today, Monday, I have to work on a project one of my customers gave me. It will help to pay for my new machine when I "trade up".

Iamquilter 02-28-2011 05:58 AM

Hand quilting on a kings sized triple irish chain for a customer. Should have about three more days and I will be finished so I can work on my own projects.

Terryl 02-28-2011 05:59 AM

Well, I cut out and pieced 12 blocks for the "big"sister quilt yesterday, who knew that some fabrics with flowers (juvinile print) was directional? Today I will be frogging all of the blocks :(:( Okay, today will be a better day. Of course probably no one but me would notice the stems going in different directions but I just can't let it go. And I am so NOT a perfectionist, I just want to do my best for a special 3 year old :) :)

Helen Marie 02-28-2011 06:00 AM

Today I hope to get the binding handwork finished on one side of the quilt for Cathy Brazell. You might recall her husband, Robert, sent out a plea for a quilt for his wife, who was recently diagnosed with cancer. She will begin radiation and chemo in a few days. Hopefully, this lap quilt will give her some comfort. I have used her favorites --- pink, black, and cats.

sewnsewer2 02-28-2011 06:02 AM

Today I am going to work on a rag blanket for my DGD.

Linda Loo 02-28-2011 06:05 AM

Well....Gotta get the laundry done, a quick run thru the house to do minor pick up, plan and start dinner THEN I can work on my strip quilt for a dear friend. Can't wait to get to that part!! :-D

Good luck on selling the house, its hard now and it is nice that your DH was able to transfer in the same company. My brother , who I live with right now works for a company that does contract work. The contract is up in Sept. and he will have to move to get another job with another company(out of the 48).I have no idea what I am going to do unless rents come down to where they were 20 years ago. But I guess something will turn up.

kaykwilts 02-28-2011 06:12 AM

I made a "New Year's Resolution" to not start another quilt until I had finished all my UFO's. The self-discipline this is taking is agonizing!!!!! But I am making progress. Today, I plan to sew one more Bear's Paw Block. This quilt's colors are "china" blue....like the Blue Danube China from a couple hundred years ago. When I tire and have to rest(I am disabled) I plan to work on a Sunbonnet Sue that I am hand appliqueing.

Happy Day to all!!

deema 02-28-2011 06:13 AM

i'm gonna keep on keeping on with quilting dd's twin quilt, my first fmq'd project. i'm trying to get it done asap because i have fabric coming soon for a customer quilt and i don't want to have to put either off to finish the other.

Borntohandquilt 02-28-2011 06:16 AM

I'm doing the "final quilting stitches" at my new mint green wholecloth.

reginalovesfabric 02-28-2011 06:42 AM

I'm at work but did bring my black and white dresden plate that I'm cutting out. Yesterday I played with my embroidery machine. I made some kitchen towels for my g baby sitter. I'd rather be at home sewing but I do like to eat so I'm here. I stopped at walmart this morning to buy a head of letuce and it was $1.88 and two apples were $1.47, looks like I'll work till I'm really old

missgigglewings 02-28-2011 06:46 AM

I am hand hemming quilt #4 for my wounded warriors. Someone sent me 20 Friendship Star blocks and they made a really nice quilt. I backed it with fabric someone else sent me. It is dark blue with red stars. Looks nice with the red sashing!

mouseface 02-28-2011 06:51 AM

i'm so behind on my hand quilting going to do that all day see if i can make a bent in it

quiltingranny 02-28-2011 07:06 AM

I have cut out crib sheets, blankets, burp cloths and wash cloths for our new grandson due in July. I started sewing yesterday and will continue to work on them every day until they are all finished.

Rose L 02-28-2011 07:06 AM

I'm going to choose fabric from my remnants to make the sweatshirt jacket that Ugly Cook posted in the tutorial section. It looks like an easy and stress free project to keep me busy for a day or two. I may have to travel down to OK this afternoon to help DH pick up a truck that he purchased but I hope he can find someone else to go. I've been away for the bulk of the past two weeks and really just want some alone time at home for a while.

grandme26 02-28-2011 07:08 AM

I hope to finish my granddaughters quilt, it's my avatar, and start getting it ready for mailing on Friday

Cdrlinda 02-28-2011 07:13 AM

Making a mini quilt. 15x15. I am a little intimidated by the small blocks and skinny strips!

SandraD 02-28-2011 07:40 AM

I need to get off this site and get to work! LOL. I have a quilt to sandwhich/pin. Front and back are done. It's time to quilt it - which I will do by hand.

wvdek 02-28-2011 07:46 AM

I laughed when I read this and said, "homework".
I have not been able to do any sewing or craft other than crochet for over four months now. School keeping me too busy this semester with 21 credit hours. I hardly ever get on here anymore for that matter. Miss it.

Jo Mama 02-28-2011 07:51 AM

I'm going to put the sashing on my vintage fabric dresden plate blocks. Will quilt them a row at a time for convenience.

Summer Spice 02-28-2011 07:56 AM

I have a x-mas quilt to put together, today may be the day, plus a few doll clothes.

ggreenridley 02-28-2011 07:58 AM

I am going to work on a quilted sign for my newest grandson's room. He is expected within the next few weeks. I may do some work on one of the quilts I am making for 2 (4 and 2)granddaughters. One theme is Dora and the other is Disney princess. I was unable to find Jasmine fabric (one of the princess I wanted to included)and I searched the world.

1227Granny 02-28-2011 08:02 AM

Sounds interesting. Can you send pictures when done? Would love to know how to make them. THX

GrannieAnnie 02-28-2011 08:07 AM

A friend broke her leg and wil have to stay in a rehab center for another month. She's a retired teacher and has a lot of apple stuff--------red apples. I went to JoAnns the other day to buy some apple fabric to make a big lap robe-------or what I prefer to call personal quilts------and couldn't find red apples. I did find green and yellow apples and found two wonderful matching fabrics. I'm using the turning 20 pattern, but using only the 3 fabrics. And obviously not getting anything done sitting here.

CBAKER 02-28-2011 08:09 AM

I was hoping to sew on a block, for my block of the month club. But I have family that showed up from Washington so I'm going to play with the baby grandson instead.

PKITTY1 02-28-2011 08:14 AM

I'm in the DNA lab this week so I will do that and then come home and check the board. Maybe then I will work on one of four projects? LOL

suekenyon 02-28-2011 08:15 AM

Just got back from taking my grandson to the dentist.
Now looking at fabric from my stash...trying to decide
on a pattern...hope it hits me soon.

Marvel 02-28-2011 08:37 AM

lbc 02-28-2011 08:40 AM

I have been working on little chicken pincushions that will be used as part of the decordations for our guild luncheon. I have to fill my final nine with crushed walnut shells and stitch them up and I will have finished 25 of them.

nana-g 02-28-2011 08:41 AM

Piecing a quilt for my son. Pattern is Hugs and Kisses. My goal this year is to make a quilt for each of my children for their birthdays!

Twisted Quilter 02-28-2011 08:44 AM

Pinwheels as soon as I get MORE fabric. Measure twice, cut once didn't work yesterday. :?

jad1044 02-28-2011 09:23 AM

I'm finishing up making little mattress covers for a changing table and cradle for my niece and nephew's new baby for when he gets here, then will make some kid fabric "sheets" for laying on top of the covers when in use...

And all this between running out to check to see what goat had her kids last and pen her up if she is not already penned; and try to get one goat to accept an unwanted little kid who is motherless! Wish me luck - I've tried her on her mother who does not want her and now a new mother, so hope it works... raising little goats is fun, but is not all glory! Love them though; keeps me overly busy this time of year, when truthfully I'd rather be quilting! :)
