Nothing-I slipped on ice going down to feed the horses and either strained or pulled a muscle in my leg, so I haven't been able to get down to my sewing room or drive since Thursday morning. BUMMER!!!!

Terryl 02-27-2011 06:30 AM

Gonnna piece a top for the "big" (3 year old) sister of newborn that I was commissioned to make. This quilt will be my gift to the sister, I think she will love it :) :) I want her to feel special too.

Snuck down to the sewing room early this am so I could keep working on my baby bibs...trying to finish 30 for the hospital sale next November....

CoventryUK 02-27-2011 07:12 AM

Just finishing binding and labelling Wedding Quilt! My friends son gets married 19th March! It is a large Queen size quilt!

Dandish 02-27-2011 07:27 AM

If I can tear myself away from the board, I'm going to go downstairs and clean the floor that's all nasty from spraying starch, but I learned about the dunk and dry method of starching and I'll hopefully never have to wipe up a starchy floor again!

Then I'm going back to practicing quilting on my new Horizon. :) Might try putting together a couple of the Civil War blocks I'm behind on, too.

Hope everyone has a nice day.

LivelyLady 02-27-2011 07:32 AM

After grocery shopping, I plan on working on Henrietta Whiskers BOM :-)

I will be working on blocks for my "Corn and Beans" quilt. Just getting a good start. I have a long way to go.

Jill 02-27-2011 07:47 AM

After some laundry, cooking and housework (yuck!!!!) I will be working on my DGD's Sunbonnet Sue for her first birthday next month.

katzak 02-27-2011 07:49 AM

I just started putting the blocks together on my purple double friendship star quilt, so I want to continue with that. And naturally, the NASCAR race at PIR will be keeping me company while DH no doubt dozes off.

DogHouseMom 02-27-2011 07:50 AM

Making my first landscape quilt. Palm trees on a beach. No design, just the stuff in my head. Sky and water horizon line done so far in between loads of laundry and ironing all the batiks I need in the quilt.

How about creating a sandwich to practice on first? You won't have to rip out stitches from that!

Everyone has such wonderful things going on. I started a Day and Night quilt by Eleanor Burns and ran out of the blue fabric. Can't find any more of it, so I found another blue that I think goes with it nicely (the middle block). I also found a gold fabric that I wanted to pair up with the yellow center to give it a dimensional look. I'm not quite sure about it yet. I have enough cut to make one more of these blocks, then will have to decide if I like the all yellow center.

I should practice machine embroidering so I can make the bibs for a couple of babies on the way or practice machine quilting that I haven't got the hang of yet, but then I want to cut out my 2" squares for the aprons I'm planning to give as gifts. Of course there's laundry that needs to be done too.

hperttula123 02-27-2011 07:59 AM

I guilt-tripped my bf into helping me sand so I'm waiting for him to get done with that so I can wipe down the walls in my sewing room so we can start priming the walls. It should dry fast enough for us to get all the painting done today(crossing my fingers).

OK, so my vote is to go start the laundry, then cut out some 2" squares since that will make you feel good. By the time you finish cutting the 2" squares, the laundry will need to go into the dryer. Come back to the sewing room and admire the beautiful 2" squares and maybe cut a few more, then put them all away for later and start doing some free motion quilting. How's that?

I am going to continue working on my 1st pp project...Jinny's Garden. I am on block #11 out of 13. Need to go to the fabric store for more black! I am getting a little more comfortable with the pp.

gh 02-27-2011 08:14 AM

That's a good plan, I'll give it a shot. FMQ intimidates me so.

I agree totally! What brand of machine do you have? I have a big Janome which doesn't do FMQ very good (it' gives "whiskers" on the backside). I got a used Bernina last year and it does fantastic FMQ. I heard somewhere that machines with a drop in bobbin don't do FMQ as well as machines with a front loading bobbin and that's proving true for me.

sueisallaboutquilts 02-27-2011 08:28 AM

Putting the borders on a quilt to send out to Charisma!!! :D:D

The opposite - we moved this week and I am UNpacking. I have lots of ideas for reorganizing my stash. I am very excited to see it all again. I have a baby blanket that I need to have done - except tying - by next weekend. So I will be sewing some, but not until tomorrow.

I got wiskers or eyelashes on the back of a recent quilt and had to take it all out. finally figured it was the thread, my machine didn't like it so went back to the thread it likes. Also found that going around a curve you need to slow down the movement of the quilt not your speed. hope this helps
good luck

Soo much to do so little time. I want to trim a quilt that I finished on the longarm, finish a UFO - borders only left to do (yeah), and cut stars with the cricut for a wall hanging for myself and my DSIL. My quilting room could also use some cleaning from all of the projects. But, it is beautiful here and would love to sit in sun and read. So all things may wait for another day.
