This is what I am working on tonight..... sewn strips to iron and then add the other piece and then to make the topper.... what color border to use is my next question...

julie 07-03-2015 02:25 PM

very pretty, looks like it will be fun to work on. I'm starting out by trying to figure out what's wrong with my DDIL's sewing machine, then moving on to starting a baby quilt for my newest grandchild, due in early December.

quiltsRfun 07-03-2015 02:28 PM

Nothing. I'm sitting here in 99+ degree heat in a house with a broken air conditioner and with the worst sore throat I've had in years. You could say I'm not having a very good day.

Becky's Crafts 07-03-2015 02:28 PM

I've been trying to put two strips of QAYG Mariner's quilt together, but after drowning it under the kitchen faucet as I took pins out & accidentally hit the faucet handle, turning the water on full blast and then getting my husband a fresh cup of coffee which I promptly swept into the middle of the quilt as I tried putting the right sides together, so I decided it was better to just sit quietly for a while & not touch it. I don't even want to know the next thing I might have dumped all over it!! :-o

i'm still working on my 1" hexes. doing a GFG. it's picture is under pictures Jeanneb was kind enough to post a picture for me.

Make you some fire cider. Will clear that sore throat up pronto.

Knitting dishcloths :)

BonnieI 07-03-2015 03:25 PM

Pretty fabric. Is a topper a tablecloth?

Tippysmom 07-03-2015 03:49 PM

Nothing. Can't do a thing, the power has been off for over 3 hours.

mmeblue 07-03-2015 04:22 PM

I'm working on my attitude. ;) I got a quilt basted last night and was hoping to start the quilting tonight but needed to pick up some thread. Turned out that my choices were either to get all three kids (6, 3, & 1) in and out of the car in the rain...or just wait and get the thread another day. I opted for the latter, but now that the kids are in bed I want to be quilting!

Onebyone 07-03-2015 04:33 PM

I finished sewing my squares together to cut out the Twister shape. It's hard to cut up the patchwork when it's all sewn together with border! I'm babysitting my 11 month old nephew so will be out of my sewing room until he leaves on Sunday. That's okay because I can hand stitch hexies until then.

Love your fabric! I'm doing the Craftsy BOM by Jinny Beyer. Tonight I am working on hand sewing the appliqué flowers onto the pieced flower baskets. I just love Jinny Beyer fabrics and her designs; but making these blocks is really time consuming.

Macybaby 07-03-2015 05:01 PM

I tried to make a fussy cut mariner's compass - I think I ripped out more than I've sewed. Trying to decide if I should give up and start over, or try to salvage it. I really messed up putting the secondary points in.

I'm ready to try something simple for a while.

Completed quilt sandwich for two Christmas holiday table runners. Moda Crazy for Red and Le Fete Noel. Awaiting backing for a batik lap quilt. Always something in the process.

Hope both you and the a/c are ship shape really soon!

Rain- what is that wet stuff- none in the northwest for a month now. Mid 90s all week-yikes

The green or deep salmon would make it really pop :)

I'm working on making 3 scrappy quilts for my 3 oldest DGS's. They're moving to Texas soon. :( So I want them to have a reminder of us....
Plus, it is 100* outside. And for a while. Ready for it to end.

Gramie bj 07-03-2015 05:52 PM

Nothing but praying for rain, it is 6:45 P.M. and still 102, I am thankful my AC is working well. Hopefully, tomorrow I'll feel more like doing something constructive. Have been working on my Row by Row patterns, think my get up and go just got up and went. LOL

SewExtremeSeams 07-03-2015 06:28 PM

Lovin' my AC... clocking in at 104 degrees outside. Hoping to cut blocks out tomorrow.

Stitchnripper 07-03-2015 06:43 PM

Burying threads in my "scrappy learning curves" which is the drunkards path block. Picture won't upload from my iPad. Can't imagine it is too big. Next up is to make another purse for my best friend. I made her one about 2 or 3 years ago and she has washed the life out of it. She has used it nonstop since I gave it to her.

GingerK 07-03-2015 06:47 PM

I just finished--totally!! (Dh keeps saying 'except for what' because I have a habit of saying 'it's all done, except for...) a baby quilt for our latest great nephew. It is a special quilt because a couple of years ago, his mommy put her own life on hold to help our DD and SIL while they worked thru a health crisis. Pretty proud of this one because I bought NOTHING--it was all from my stash. Shall post a pic tomorrow.

CyndyK 07-03-2015 07:59 PM

I am working on making split nine patch blocks from 2.5" squares. I need 120 blocks and am a little over 1/2 way there. YAY! I have a three day weekend for Independence Day and I'm hoping to get more sewing time in.

GailG 07-03-2015 08:11 PM

Not working on anything tonight. I, too, have had sore throat, etc. and laid low yesterday and today. But I did finish the last installment in the Harriet Truman/Loose Threads mystery series. And - just loaded another series, Southern Mystery Series by Eizabeth Craig.

mamagrande 07-03-2015 08:36 PM

I am working on the 'X block" for a Garden Maze quilt that I started 7 years ago while I am waiting for some thread that I ordered for my longarm. It's been too hot and humid and we are not used to humidity in central CA. We are on an electrical program that we use as little power as possible from 12noon to 6pm, so no AC just sit in from of a fan and nap..then stay up till midnight...

notmorecraft 07-03-2015 09:19 PM

Not sewing this week, had pleurisy and no energy, starting to feel better, just sat and read latest Karin Slaughter, chilling for a change, hot here in Scotland as well.

I sympathize with you. Glad you're feeling better.

I hope everyone that is sick seen a Dr. and on the mend. Happy 4th to everyone!!!

Patski-Mi. 07-04-2015 04:36 AM

I'm working on my row by row quilt. Only have 6 more rows to go. I don't know how some people are already finished with them. They were done 4 days after the contest started. I think I am just going to collect the license plates and patterns. Will try to get different plates from different stores. Looks like a nice day today. Should plant a couple of flowers I bought yesterday. Happy Fourth..........

zennia 07-04-2015 04:40 AM

I am working on a red.white &blue log cabin quilt for my patio. Should be finished but I got sick along the way. should finish this week-end.

faykilgore 07-04-2015 04:46 AM

I am so sorry about those who are ill and those suffering from the heat. Guess I need to quit whining about Texas being so hot. Low 90's and the AC is working.

ManiacQuilter2 07-04-2015 05:12 AM

I am quilting more Bible bags and trying to stay cool in So California.

I am working on my patriotic row robin. Doing FMQ loops and SID with the FMQ foot. Not the easiest thing for a beginner. But no improvement without practice so that is what I am doing!

Hope everyone stays cool and gets healthy fast.

I spent 3 hours last night making neck coolers for everyone going to the fireworks with us. My daughter casually mentioned yesterday, that she had told everyone that I would make them one to survive the heat wave we are currently having! I had planned to make one for me, her, and DH, so last night I sat down and figured out how to make them fast and easy, but secure. What I came up with was to just trim the ends with pinking shears to save the two extra steps of sewing the ends shut. I just used the scraps from a quilt I am currently working on, so no cutting, just sewing, and adding the crystals. These are the ones that you use the "watering crystals" that swell up when soaked in water and they keep you cool for hours. The first photo is the neck coolers and the second is the quilt I got the scraps from.

I'm working on two baby quilts out of a kit I ordered from Connecting Threads. I'm making them a tad smaller than the instructions but they give you plenty of the fat quarters needed so decided to make use of what I had. Just finished constructing the blocks.......64 of one type and 62 of the other. I decided they wasted too much fabric one the 2nd one so took it into EQ7 and made a new one where it doesn't waste much. I'm also using the Easy Angle to cut my triangles so another savings on fabric. Now if I could only cut correctly I'd have it made. The pattern is called Sprinkles, it uses 36 fat quarters in 6 color groups. I liked some of the fabrics in this kit that I decided to go out and order the complete collection of their faux burlap. Have most of the others already excluding their solids. Anyway, still have a nice bit of the fat quarters left over to make yet another baby quilt with added background fabric.

I'm also changing the layout to the Sprinkles pattern a little as I don't care how they laid out the coins in the middle border. Making the outer border a bit wider too.

indymta 07-04-2015 04:19 PM

I'm working on the crib size Diamond Patch Quilt. Thought I was doing great until I started to lay out my rows.
I've made the rows on the diagonal as the picture/diagram showed. I've checked the arrangement 3 x. But when I laid it out on the floor - it doesn't work- there's a gap on either side -corner doesn't line up with the side . I'm glad I didn't start sewing the rows together as I made them. Have to leave it for tonight and will do the layout again tomorrow and have DH look at it. He's very good at the visual.

lynnie 07-04-2015 04:36 PM

i'm working on a GFG in a 1" hex. seems like i'll never finish it. it's under photos if anyone wants to see it. Jeanneb put up photos.
