Hi Barb,
What is a walker bag? I was at the hospital last night with a friend who had broken his hip. He is getting surgery today. Thanks |

It's a bag that attaches to the top cross piece of a walker, so you can carry stuff around with you as you get around.

Those walker bags are handy even without a walker-- they fasten on to any bar of the right size! Great for next to the bed or on the porch, too.
Today I am working on the Exploding Heart Quilt. I am regretting not using my folded corner clipper tool to pre-cut the HST pieces! I could have figured out how to do that with strips and the tool and a ruler, I'm sure, to do it in bulk like with the squares. Trimming all these HST blocks up is taking so long, and if I'd used the folded corner clipper tool I could have just sewn the block & been done with it! Instead each block gets sewn & cut at least twice before it's ready for trimming. It does include instructions for die cutters on the number & size of triangles needed, but I didn't think about too hard, just thought, "Well, those are Accuqilt instructions and I don't have that, I'll use the traditional HST block instructions." But if I do this again I will remember to try it out the other way! |
Just doing some big stitch quilting this afternoon, waiting for my stitching buddy to arrive. I did a couple rows of machine quilting earlier, taking that job slowly as it isn’t my favourite 😜

Working on 2 UFO quilts. One Bonnie Hunter and one for an upcoming graduation. Tonight, plan to cut out burp cloths and teething toys to sew up for upcoming newborns at church.

Four of us went to a quilt show about 1.5 hours from here. It was a bit of a trek but definitely worth it!! OMG the eye candy was abundant and fantastic. We enjoyed a lovely lunch, managed to stay away from the half dozen vendor booths, and on our way home, stopped in at 3 small out of the way fabric stores, a meat market (mmmm smoked summer sausage!!) and a bakery (chelsea buns still warm from the oven!!) All in all, an exhausting but fantastic day!

Ptquilts, where did you get the pattern for the walker bag? It sounds interesting.

I'm going to a guild member's getting rid of her sewing studio sale, she is letting it go and moving. She has sewing furniture for sale, and I want to buy one of her sewing tables. I hope the rest of the day will be re arranging my sewing room.

Walker Bags: One of the volunteer organizations I participate with makes walker bags that are donated to a local hospital. The hospital in turn gives a bag to every patient who leaves the hospital using a walker. A good simple sewing project that has a useful purpose. You don't know how useful until you need one. Yup, I know. Now when I loan out my walker to someone, I include the bag too.
Working on today? Finishing a quilt top and beginning the planning for a quilt retreat next weekend. Which project to take, what tools do I need and so on. Oh, yes and a baby quilt to make. So many project and so little time. Tee-Hee-Hee! |
We had breakfast with DGS#1 and DGGC. DGD is way on a girl's weekend so now I'm finally going to be able to work on my applique quilt Blooming Butterflies. Might even do a couple petals on a Dream Big Panel.
