I saw one on a you tube video yesterday that was called "Waste Knot", and I have not been able to locate the pattern anywhere. It was done in oriental prints on black fabric. Wish I could find it. (Sigh)

I have a note book full of pics of "must do" maybe I'll get to them before I die

I MUST do a family picture quilt. Have all the pics transferred to fabric. Now must figure out a pattern.

Another is a space quilt. I have collected all the patches the astronauts wore on their suits from the first flight with Alan Shepherd. It has taken me two years to find the kind of fabric I wanted but just got the last one a week ago. I have a couple of projects I must finish first but my fingers are just itchin' to start that space one.

I have lived in Florida since 1954 and the space flights have always been a part of our lives.

I have about 20 on my list. Yesterday, I bought a bunch of page protectors, notebooks, index pages, etc., and decided to put all of my patterns in notebooks instead of the boxes I currently have them in. I got two notebooks thinking I would have one for quilting patterns and one for general sewing patterns.

Well guess what? I used BOTH notebooks (big ones) for my quilting patterns. Yikes! Most of them were free off the internet, so it's not like I've spent a fortune on them, but still, that's a LOT of patterns.

So . . . . yesterday I took the "No More Patterns Pledge," (I made up the name) and decided that I would not buy OR PRINT any more patterns unless the pattern is so stunningly beautiful that I plan to move it to the front of the line. In other words, no more patterns to do someday. It's today, or not at all!!

Here's link - it's not to youtube, but the pattern says "Waste Knot". It's down the page a bit.

I went to a quilt show 20 days after putting together my first quilt and saw a Hunter's Star. It has been on my 'must do' list since. Recently found what I consider to be the perfect fabrics and now, 5-1/2 years later, am finally making one. Attaching a picture of the first four blocks, finished quilt will probably have 80 blocks. Saw a tutorial on this board from a Russian lady and am using her technique. Would like to know about the 'cool ruler' you found.

Where did you find the spin star pattern?

Smiley27 08-31-2010 09:08 AM

A Memorial quilt is a great idea and I can tell you're thinking big! One of my first quilting projects was making small (7"x7") mini-quilts out of my mother-in-law's clothing. I was just starting to quilt, so it was a log cabin design. I made enough for everyone in my husband's generation and the grandkids. I hung each on a miniature hanger with the small craft clothespins. I stitched a heart somewhere on each and used a few of her old vintage buttons on each quilt. Everyone was delighted. You might think about using your leftover fabrics for something like these to share your love!

I usually have many. Then once or twice a year, I go through them all and decide that many of them have changed to "WANT TO DO"

Kellie G 08-31-2010 10:38 AM

Could not list them all but, I want to do a twisty bargello, a star spin, cathedral windows, dreamer weaver? or something like that. I have bought and down loaded many many patterns that are on my "bucket list". But my family and extended family are continually-getting married, having babies, etc. and life just gets in the way....guess I'll have to start making my bucket list quilts and give them away.

np3 08-31-2010 10:48 AM

My list is really long but whenever I think about the one I'll make for "me", I think of a Garden Twist with Snowballs. I saw one in a Quilt Shop once. I have never found the pattern for it but someday......

I have the following must-do's on my list: Dear Jane, Bargello, Wedding Ring, Storm at Sea and Baltimore Album (which I am doing now).

IBQUILTIN 08-31-2010 03:48 PM

Not enough "have" to do. So I guess the next one I just " to do is the next one,

Mine would have to be a Sunbonnet Sue and Log Cabin quilt. There are about a dozen or so more just begging to be started.

wanderingcreek 08-31-2010 06:42 PM

I have so many patterns that I want to do and I keep looking for more. Since moving in with my son and his family I have had to stop buying fabrics as I have nowhere to put anymore but patterns take up so little space. When I see one that is different I have to have it and then it becomes one of my "One Day I'll make this" patterns. I like different patterns and that is how I started making bargellos. They really aren't as difficult as they appear. Now I am getting into applique and paper piecing. I have decided that I will have to live to 100 plus years to have any chance at making most of them and that is only if I quit buying more patterns.

shrldunn. 08-31-2010 07:05 PM

I found 2 Jenny Beyer patterns I just love. I already have more than I could possibly do in ten life times but I think I would enjoy the challenge of these two quilts. Of course, I can't start until I finish the king size one I'm working on, the one in my head for my grandson, the baby quilt top I've done for a shower, the one ........and some of the table runners, place mats, etc I already have in my ufo drawer.

OHSue 08-31-2010 07:59 PM

I have a Take 5 on my next to do list. I am also going to do a Buzz Saw quilt for my husband by this Christmas, I promise, I swear....or at least a pillow.

Annz 08-31-2010 08:12 PM

I have a sort of long list but I want to do the hunters star next.

eightylady 08-31-2010 08:44 PM

quiltluvr, is "watercolors" a design for a quilt or block? Sounds lovely, 80

eightylady 08-31-2010 08:47 PM

Kitsie, I'm just going along, too, making a block/blocks of those I like. Are those you're making the same size? I hope we get to see a pix someday! Thanks, 80

eightylady 08-31-2010 08:54 PM

ccthomas, thats funny  I think we all have that disease and we haven't even been in each other's company :P

stoppain 09-01-2010 06:28 AM

Sandy from near Chicago

plainpat 09-01-2010 06:31 AM

I'd like to work up enough nerve to make Storm at Sea.Have fabric for a One Block Wonder.....& here I sit!

wildyard 09-01-2010 08:35 AM

My #1 must do is the Focus Pocus, which mine will be called the Hocus Focus, because I keep twisting that name around. LOL. I love that pattern.
My other must do's are because of the people they are for, not so much for the pattern, but I do love the patterns too, and since I'm a beginner, they are good for me. First is the D9P, then the Rail Fence.

stitchingmemories 09-01-2010 10:37 AM

Why, Oh why do I have this sickness? I was doing okay working on the two oldest grandkids quilt tops, until yesterday. Then I found this one......http://patsloan.typepad.com/.a/6a00d...774107e970b-pi

gollytwo 09-01-2010 05:16 PM

I want to turn Mondrian's painting Broadway Boogie Woogie into a quilt.

GailG 09-01-2010 07:28 PM

Just getting through all of the basic old traditional blocks will be a challenge to get done before I kick the bucket.

annette1952 09-01-2010 08:04 PM

I have a list a mile long of " must do's " Don't think I would have the time to list them all! LOL I do love that spinning star. It is a beautiful block.

RedGarnet222 09-01-2010 09:02 PM

My list has gotten pretty long too. But, I surely must find the time for my tennessee waltz, a burgoine surrounded and a crossed canoes. I also love the hunter's star in a blue and white theme, but it comes in fourth on the list.
Then there is a log cabin that keeps calling me. I haven't made one of those in a very long time.
