stefanib123 08-29-2010 07:39 AM

I found a quilt pattern yesterday on here, the spin star that I absolutely MUST do.

I was wondering if anyone else has a pattern that they've came across and simply MUST DO!

grammy Dwynn 08-29-2010 07:48 AM

Oh, my list is so loooonnnnggg. I don't think I could list them all. Let's just say that I hope to live long enough to do 'most' of them. BUT then those darn quilt designers keep coming up with 'new' ones that I MUST do . . . so I guess it is a never ending cycle. ;)

Granna of 5 08-29-2010 07:51 AM

I must say the spin star really caught my eye and I want to do it very much. But, I really don't think I am experienced enough for this one. It really looks tough. But it is bookmarked for some day.

hobo2000 08-29-2010 07:54 AM

My bucket overfloweth. When I get ready to start a new project, do I dip into ye olde bucket, no, I design something new. Oh well, I will have to live to 101 to finish the bucket.

SueDor 08-29-2010 08:09 AM

My list is too long also. Between this site and magazines and free patterns on web sites, plus the books I have I don't think I have enough time.

judylg 08-29-2010 08:12 AM

I really would like to do a Bargello. So nice. The thing is all of the patterns are nice, tough choice.

Patty Patches 08-29-2010 08:20 AM

Theres an autumn splender quilt calling my name.

That's me, too. I figure by the time I get around to be ready to do it, I should be "experienced" enough to do it! LOL!

sueisallaboutquilts 08-29-2010 09:01 AM

I have many I want to do and even more since joining the board. But 2 that I've been wanting to make since I started quilting are Snail's Trail and Jacob's Ladder.
I've seen amazing versions of both.

No- 3-
New York Beauty- that's a stunning pattern.
And I'm from New York- but a beauty?? hee hee

amandasgramma 08-29-2010 09:11 AM

EVERY pattern I see, is my MUST DO!

stefanib123 08-29-2010 09:14 AM

Oooo, Susan the "Snails Trail" is nice!

There is a lady on here, Akangel, that done a version of this with cats. It's amazing!

Twisted Quilter 08-29-2010 09:47 AM

If I don't do anything else, I have to make a memorial quilt! I have to do this for all the wonderful people in my life that are now gone. I've only made 3 tops, so I'm trying to be patient. I'm working out some of my 'quilting kinks' (e.g. 1/4" seam, straight seam, matching points, etc) before I start on this special quilt. My plan is to start on it this winter and have it completed by 2011 for a family reunion.

luv-e 08-29-2010 09:55 AM

My list is soooooo long , that it takes me awhile when I do go to it to pick one out. lol lol It's like a kid in a candy store. lol

franie 08-29-2010 09:58 AM

Not enough space here to type all the must do's.

MadQuilter 08-29-2010 10:29 AM

I just went through all my binders last night because I decided to pick a different center for my round robin. Good grief - there are sooooo many I Must/Want to/Will do - I MUST live to 132 at least. lol

Dee Dee 08-29-2010 11:09 AM

I don't know if this is the same Autumn Splendor quilt pattern you are referring to at http://www.henscratchquilting.com/cwionmobebaf.html
But it is in my "Must Do" list for this year.

So many things, so little time. Want to make an ISpy for DGS, a Bow Tucks, and way too many things I see here. LOL

pocoellie 08-29-2010 11:39 AM

My list is also too long to list. LOL I just need more time.

quiltluvr 08-29-2010 11:48 AM

I'm totally, totally in love with watercolors. Since I've yet to graduate from the potholder stage (of which I haven't made any of those either) it'll be a long, long time before I get comfortable enough to do a watercolor.

I have a log cabin kit that I think I may get too before the watercolor. We'll see. ;)

mommaB 08-29-2010 02:19 PM

You just had to put that link for Autumn Splendor on here..now there's yet one more on the dream list

littlehud 08-29-2010 03:26 PM

I want to do a Baltimore Album Quilt. It 's my dream quilt.

sewingladydi 08-29-2010 04:53 PM

I thought I saw one with cats here! I'll have to look that one up. Oooops, there goes that darn list!!!

Kitsie 08-29-2010 05:26 PM

I know I'll never get full quilts done of all the blocks I like so I'm going to do the blocks and assemble into some kind of sampler!

It may be the pattern called "Let Sleeping Cats Lie". Try Ericas.com. I made a hanging out of it.

Let sleeping cats...

Another one on my list is the Amish Spinning Star, I stayed at the Das Essenhaus Inn in Middlebury, Indiana. The inn was lovely, through out the spaces were quilts and I noticed the Spinning Star on more than one wall. I think it might be a little difficult, but when it comes down to it, time and patience is the key when doing these type of quilts. In any case I am going to give it a go, maybe this winter???? Yea, right!

watterstide 08-30-2010 03:26 AM

my list is also long..but i think the one i always wanted to make is the double irish chain..in colorwash fabrics. my friend made one and it is beautiful, and on her bed.
someday, i am actually gonna make one just for me and keep it!

moonrise 08-30-2010 03:59 AM

Definitely a New York Beauty! I made a test block awhile back, and it came out okay, but those curvy bits sure are intimidating!

stitchinwitch 08-31-2010 03:35 AM

nope! I feel I NEED to design my own (with those darned copywrite laws, etc)

Bernie942 08-31-2010 03:45 AM

Yeah, but that's one of the great things about quilting. There's always that next must do quilt.

OmaForFour 08-31-2010 03:59 AM

I have you beat! I need to live to 120! LOL

I always wanted to do a Hunter's Star. I found a cool ruler at the Hershey Show and have done two quilts and will be teaching it in a class in the fall.

in my UFO's I have antique dressen (sp?) blocks to put into a quilt, GMFG started and partly put together, 3 sets of blocks I have won at guild...makes me tired to think of it. LOL

heavensentme6 08-31-2010 05:03 AM

I just want to finsh the one I am working on the starflower.

Mariah 08-31-2010 05:23 AM

Speaking of "must makes" I just have to make an Irish Chain. I know it is a very old pattern, but I am fascinated by it, and my Mom made several of it.
I also want, and need to make a "Stack and Whack." Some of my friends have made beautiful quilts with that pattern.
I am sure there are more, but it is earl morning, and I can't think right now!!!
Mariah.

My must do pattern is called cosmic jewels. It absolutely screams out my oldest son's name. Another one is the Dresden plate. I HAVE to do that one for myself! Another one is the kaleidoscope dresdan plate. I could go one and on!!!

damaquilts 08-31-2010 06:29 AM

I use to have a list of ones I wanted to do but for some reason I don't anymore. I see one and say yeah pretty maybe some day and kinda forget about it. Old age I guess. I haven't made a traditional pattern in a long time. I think the last thing I actually made from a pattern was the disappearing nine patch that I saw on here. Did a few and done. Bored with it. lol
