Mine would have to be a digital camera.I like to set my squares together, then take 3-4 pics & transfer to computer. Amazing how the pics shows things my eyes don't notice. From wrong shades of color,to wavy strips & blocks needing moved etc.
Maybe we get so caught up in "git er done", we don't see the trees in the forest. At least that's my excuse :-) |
I keep my camera at my sewing desk too. I do exactly as you do. :)
|
I do the same thing. I have a Canon with a view finder and sometimes I look through the view finder and see where stuff needs to be fixed. I save myself the time and fix it before I snap the picture.
However my biggest help while quilting would probably be my husband. Not only is he REALLY good at picking out fabric but he works really hard so I can quilt whenever I want day or night since I don't have to work. Well I am sure thats the not REAL reason he works so hard. lol but hey it works for us. |

My camera too in fact my hubby just bought me a new one for Christmas. My other helper is my cat Tia(in my Avatar) she makes alot of my design decisions for me even though I do question her judgement at times, lol!!!
|
my digital camera too.
I lav out the blocks and take a picture. Then pick up everything by rows and I have a photo to follow. I also use a flannel-backed tablecloth when laying out the quilt and often leave everything there. Just roll it up. |
My scanner and printer are one of my biggest helpers. My camera has issues and trying to save up for a new one. I won't go cheap this time want all the bells and whistles. I do nature photography and want to start showing my images on the net.

Mine is in my avatar!! She always has an opinion and is constantly helping me with my layouts!!!

My friend Barbara !!! lol I like to use my binoculars the opposite way and check out my layout before sewing together ! And yes I usually move things around a bit ! Try it it is great aid.

I think my design wall is my biggest helper. It's big enough to layout blocks for a king size quilt. I use the computer/printer and camera more then I ever thought I would in quilting.
|
I like to use my camera that way, too. I need to rig up a design wall, though. I also like to lay out my fabric pieces/blocks on a table and eye them/rearrange (for days!) before making decisions.

Thanks Annie |
I have one as well! My daughter's cat Lexi thinks she has to help with EVERYTHING in my craft room. My mom got me a picture for my craft area of a cat resting all over quilting material, tape measures....wrong color cat, but she reminds me of her!

I never thought about using my camera. I guess I NEED to go out and buy one to put with my sewing stuff. Thanks ya'll.

I don't understand that at all! |
TIME!

I use my camera, too, but I have got to say that my best quilt helper is my Accuquilt GO. It just amazes me how all my pieces go together so perfectly, and how all my blocks come out just the right size. And, now I love the "cutting" part, too.

I love Tiger Tape for making half-square triangles. A friend to shop with for a complementary piece of fabric is also a god-send!
|
It sounds like I need to start taking pictures and get a kitty cat to help with quilting.

I love my ping pong table for my workspace.

I use my design wall too, could not be without it. Really helps when you are trying out different designs

my quilting buudy in otis orchards wa. she is a great help when i would rather look at the pictures than read the directions when the brain is not computing..........lol
|
Thanks Dear quilters. ;) I asked for and just got my 1st digital camera for Xmas. Canon SD1300IS. I'm still just trying to understand it. The Owners Manual is on computer and I'm old enough that I still do better with a paper copy to refer to. Especially the page where all the symbols are explained. Waiting to get my daughter to sit down with me for some practice runs and getting photos into the computer.

When I was finishing a sea turtle 3D quilt for my niece-vodka!!
|
I scan my blocks and then put them into my Print Artist program. I can turn and move the blocks and create the the way the entire quilt will look.
|
Design wall and camera. With my camera I take pictures as the quilt is being made and then done. I have a folder in my computer for each quilt I made. It is nice to look back. Design wall is also great because you can leave it up and come back to it and 99% of the time I make a change, something I didn't see before. Great tool
