New York Beauties
I have only made one block but I love the way they look! |
I always come back to a Log Cabin, quickly followed by a nine patch, it's almost like a cleansing ritual ( ... that seems like an odd reference.... but it fits) before I start something else... the scrappier the better!
brushandthinble, it's so funny you say that! I was talking about log cabin quilts with a co-worker today, and it dawned on me that of the 6 that I've made since I started quilting, not a single one has had a red center... even thought I know that's traditional, and it was important during the Underground railroad... I'll have to try it sometime
I myself am not partial to red, so when I made mine, I used a dark rusty red with deep gold stars in it. In my second one I may end up using the same thing.
For me this has to be the hardest question ever! I have yet to do the same one twice, since there are too many wonderful choices, but I do aspire to one day do a double wedding ring. That is my favorite to look at.

Ohio Star

hands down! the nine patch :) and any variation. I love the look and its so versatile when creating your own quilt instead of following a pattern
Churn Dash, Ohio Star, and Pinwheel are my favorite blocks.
Jacob's Ladder which includes a 4-path and a half-square triangle. Recently, I started to get into circles.
I want to try log cabin.
