Jacob's Ladder is a favorite, but my go-to pattern for baby quilts is 9-patch with snowball blocks in between.

ratz29 04-14-2013 10:38 AM

Which pattern is this. I have fabric that would be great for it.

My favorite quilt crossed the color wheel bridge long, long ago when I was newly wed. The top was pieced of fabrics given to my FIL and filled with a worn blanket. I cannot remember the back but I'm sure it was re-purposed. It was the plainest kind of utility quilt but it glowed for me because he put it on his cot right away and bragged on it to everyone that I'd made him something from, according to him, "rags." He was a dear, dear man---must have been like jojo47's FIL--a kind and appreciative gentleman.

Wow, everyone's quilts are great!!

This quilt I designed and made while my mother recovered from hip surgery. 24 different fabrics, some my own hand dyes.

Most if them are from magazines about 10 or more years old. I have Tropico, Bailey's quilt (a purchased pattern), Lake Oswego Stars, and Pulsar (from a 1994 magazine.). The last one is an unnamed sampler.

Buckeye Rose 04-14-2013 04:55 PM

I think I am most proud of the bargello I made...pretty difficult....and pretty too!

KathyPhillips 04-14-2013 06:35 PM

Anita, I love the colors in your Dresden Plate Avatar!

The one which I am working on. I love them all - they are my favorite - at least while I am working on them.

Favorite pattern: log cabin (and variations).

Anita

Would love to see a photo of that Log Cabin Quilt!

I have two, one was a commission quilt for my girl friend when she built a log cabin home in TN. I'd seen a log cabin quilt on the cover of Traditional Quiltworks, and in the center was a large block with a log cabin with mountains behind, with a half border of flying geese. I did change the center block some, adding bushes, chimney with stone fabric and a stone walkway. It has a place of honor in her home hanging next to her 2 story stone fireplace. The second favorite is a blue/white Dresden plate I made for a family reunion quilt. With family members sending blue fabric, imagine my surprise when every piece of fabric I received was a bright blue, no large prints. I used the pattern from a book by Eleanor Burns, and I sure wish I had won that raffle, however, my brother that won the quilt told me that I would have to go some to top that quilt.

Light and dark. The quilt went together so easily and I enjoyed the process so much. The quilting part on the other hand has been driving me nuttso, but I am learning so new skills and developing patience. :)

jmoore 04-18-2013 03:43 AM

I only started quilting about a year and a half ago so I don't have a lot of quilts under my belt ... but I did enjoy making a Pickety Sticks quilt from the book "On a Roll". I gave the quilt away to my best girlfriend and since I was a beginner quilter, I did not take a picture of it before I mailed it to California. I now take photos and keep fabric swatches in a binder...

WTxRed 04-18-2013 03:49 AM

My favorite is always the one I just finished!

UBe - beautiful quilt - do you have the pattern info you could share?

I don't know if a picture of this pattern is still available or not but if you go to www.newportquilt.com ad look for Angel Song designed by Julie Golimowski, I made that for a cousin with bi-polar who requested an "angel quilt". It really turned out beautifully and I published a picture of the World Wide Quilting Page but there again, I don't know if it's still there or how to get there. Have you noticed I can find my way to a site once or twice and then I need help, haha. I made the Chunky Churn Dash quilt twice that's on Quiltville's site and I think I have a picture of that one--if I can find it and if I can figure out how to get it on here! The Fall colors with flying geese in it is a quilt designed by Paula Niedemayer and it is called "Eternal Autumn".

BertieD 05-02-2013 10:59 AM

It's not the quilt I'm most proud of but I'm sure proud it's finished! LOL!

ghostrider 05-02-2013 12:06 PM

I have two favorites. The first is one I designed for my sister, a mid-century modern lover. It's called City Sister.

The other is a tessellating pattern I designed called Snowflakes, made for my cousin.

Apologies to Judy Niemeyer. The bright circles with flying geese quilt on page 6 is "Autumn Splendor" -- a pattern by Judy Niemeyer -- not Paula Niedemayer or whatever I said in an earlier post. It's a beautiful quilt but first one of Judy's patterns I tried. Signed up for a quilt retreat with my cousin in Tennessee and that was the pattern we made!

I love the Carpenter's Star!

I'm making a Texans quilt for my uncle, I love the one you've made for your grandson, but where did you get the logo and cornerstones from?

DresiArnaz 04-12-2015 09:19 PM

My favorite is the old blue and yellow ohio star variation on my profile page.

I pieced it 20 or so years ago.

Didn't get around to quilting it until maybe ten years ago. I just slammed it together using double batting, and a bunch of old blue workshirts for the back. It was bound with black bias tape I had laying around.

There is no real craftsmanship. I just threw it together to see if I could even make it look like anything I wouldn't have to hide in shame. When I was 18 I made one out of old blankets, jeans and shirts that was tied. It wasn't very pretty but it was okay for picnics at the beach

Then I tried some star quilt from colored jeans-a bit thinner and got into a big mess trying to match points. I eventually threw that one in the trash and gave up for about a decade.

As I got older, I learned more about it and I have a whole lot more patience. Having to rip out seams because I goofed up is not the end of the world anymore. It's okay if it's not perfect. So what if I have to do something over again?

Losing the drive for perfection and some of my OCD tendencies helped.

I never took classes and didn't really know anyone who quilted. Back in the day, there was no quilting forum or internet. I just kind of stumbled along the best I could hoping I would get better

The blue and yellow one will always be my favorite because I didn't feel like giving up on quilting when I was finally able to finish it

Since I answered in 2013 I made this quilt and it is now my favorite. I enjoyed buying the fabrics and putting it all together. It's my Big Star, Little Star quilt.

JennyPenny your quilts are beautiful I especially like the last one you posted. My favorite so far is probably my Rainbow Pineapple quilt also my Turnover Twist which is made using turnover pre cuts.

calla 04-13-2015 07:05 AM

An Heirloom quilt, each block was ME incorporated grandmothers handmade lace and buttons etc. such a joy to make including matching shams........problem.........to my amazement it was too heavy since I used a fusible batting. So disappointed.

Anyone know if the Houston Texans fabric and panels are available anywhere? From post #46. SIL in NE has Texas blood, loves this quilt.
