Betty 62, Being "square" is not at all bad. You have multiple sides but all are even, you have four points and they are all right angles. Squares can be bent just a little and made into a parallelogram which still has four even sides but with four different angles at each point. This allow even a square to be unique. You can make a point, but it is just a little different from the rest. And a square is easy to work with and often is the center of things. Being a bit of a square can be an excellent quality.

Really interesting to read what everyone thinks their quilts say about them! I'm glad I'm not the only one who waits for a mystery quilt to be done before deciding to do it.

My quilts are most often scrappy and like the traditional patterns best. I like using wild, bright colors. I do like my blocks to be well made, points matching, etc; secondary patterns formed when blocks are set without sashing is fun.

Although I usually use "traditional" patterns, I have been known to make scrappy quilts, as well, and liked them once they were done. However, I think what mine say about me is that I just love quilts, period. Every time I see a picture of a quilt here on the Board, I think "Oooh, I want one just like that", but I already have about 300 more quilts that I want to do, and most of those aren't gonna happen.
However, I will continue to make quilts for as long as I can, because I enjoy the piecing and watching the overall design come together. So far, every quilt I have done has looked better once it was done, than it did when I was imagining it.

I agree. My preference is traditional with color coordination and calmness. Thanks for
making me think about that one.

Most of mine are orderly, symmecticral. My favorite is Kyoto Circles, which to me, is a sort of ordered chaos.

Guess I fall into the "orderly" category as well. I like color but controlled and prefer just 2 or3 color quilts. But do love the creativity of Row Round Robins using whatever colors needed to "paint" the picture.

Mine say I need to do a lot of learning, but am having fun just doing that.

Mine tend to say I love muted colors, black & white with one color added (and NOT red) mine have lime green added and one with coral added. They also say try something new. my next try with be aplique. will see how that goes. I like to try new things - hairpin lace is one new thing the past year.

This is a timely question for me. I often try new patterns, both modern and traditional, but have yet to do a scrappy. That is not for a shortage of scraps. I have spent much of the last couple of days pressing, trimming and cutting scraps to uniform sizes that might be useful. Now I only need to work up the courage to try a scrappy quilt. Hopefully I can get past the lack of continuity inherent in scrappy quilt sometime-maybe this year.
