Some of you use your normal names, but I'm wondering if there is a story behind your ID?
My real name is Christine, but my mother often used the European version ... as in ... Mom walks into living room and notices a huge splotch of orange paint all over the new blue floral sofa slipcovers she just made. "Krystyna, Krystyna. What is this? Well, that IS a lovely painting of a pumpkin you've made." Mom walks into my bedroom and sees me hard at work on one of her old skirts, snipping away with scissors in hand. "Krystyna, Krystyna! My goodness! Isn't that a fancy hula skirt you've made." Mom passes by the hall closet and notices a sign I enthusiastically made to remind me of the schedule for my soon-to-start violin lessons. It is affixed with to the lovely oak door with glue meant to repair shoes and has a fancy leather frame made from my father's old belts. "Krystyna, Krystyna! Oh! Oh ... Well, now no one will forget your lessons for a long time. Oh. Oh, my." So, in keeping with my quilting qualities ... I decided to use the ID Krystyna. Mom passed away many years ago, but with each quilt I finish, I can hear her say ... "Krystyna, Krystyna. Oh my. What have you made here ..." |

My grandchildren call me Numa and half the other people I know call me Numa too. Therefore I'm Numa!

I think mine is pretty clear. I am Olivia's Grammy. However, in Dec she started calling me Mimi bc she couldn't say Grammy. Mimi has stuck and I think it's cute bc it's what she chose to call me. She is now 25 months and the apple of both Pa and Mimi's eye.

I used my name in Hawaiian

What a lovely story you have....
For a while my last name was "Moon". I also did work for extra cash at night to help a lady make dance costumes so I was "moonlighting". I had to have a name for a sales tax license so I had to come up with something original. Since I was doing my work under the moonlight when my sons were finally in bed, I decided to call it "moonwork" and then added my zipcode when I moved to Kentucky. I still do alot of my work under the light of the moon...it's a great time to sew :) |
Well, I do a lot of stitching...and ripping!!!!

I like cats and we live on some acreage. We call our place the Three Cats Ranch. Three cats, but only two now. We joke about putting one of those arched signs over the entrance to our driveway like big ranches have. It would say "Three Cats Ranch" and have paw prints. Thus, I'm a catrancher.
|
My name is Patty and one day I smarted off at my granddaughter and she called me crabby patty. It stuck.
|
My name of tealady came from the loss of tea rooms in this area. Since we have no tea rooms around here anymore, I cater tea parties. I take the tearoom to the customer.

Hobo was a little chihuahua that climbed into our car at a rest stop in GA. We discovered him 100 miles down the road, thought it was a wild animal that got in and out jumps this 8 lb dog. He knew all of us better than we did. If I cried for any reason he would bring the klenex. We have had many dogs while raising 4 sons, but during the holidays we start remembering Hobo and we all get misty eyed. We had to put him down in 2000 due to an enlarged heart. We always said Hobo is all heart, an angel in doggy disguise.
|
Krystyna - it sounds like you were a VERY "creative" child!
My name source? A stray cat I adopted. |
Mine is because I have little imagination and it takes too long to type my whole last name: Fishinghawk.
Crabby Patty, my grandson thinks you are "kewl" because of your name! Of course he is a great Spongebob fan. I, too, know all the words to the opening song. Sigh. |
Oma 66 - my grandchildren call my husband and I OMA and OPA, which is Dutch (and German) for grandmother and grandfather. My husband is Dutch. The 66 is the age I was when I began to use the name on line. Very, very soon I will be 69, so OMA66 is no long accurate.

My real name is Janie and I believe when I joined the QB that name was taken. Soo...I chose Opal Jane which is my cat's name (my Avatar). The reason she has 2 names is because she is a registered pure bread persian and when I registered her, the name Opal had been taken so I gave her my name as her middle name.
Confused yet??!! |
Mine is a combo of my name and middle name. Amy and Jo so amyjo. My real name is Aemilia but so many people butcher it so I went short to amy.
|
When I signed up I didn't realize that my board name would really identify ME. I'm Elizabeth Ruth Stanford and born in 1947 so I used "erstan947". How dull is that.....I go by Ruth.
I only get Elizabeth if I'm in trouble with the IRS:):):) |
Mariposa means butterfly in spanish, and I like butterflies! :)

When I signed up I thought this was just another internet site. That I would be anonymous (and I can be if I chose) but I have interacted with so many wonderful people that it would be quite boring if I did.
So when I signed up I didnt know any better and used my "internet" name Abby. That is a name I have used for over a decade when I was in computer lab in Middle school and was told to come up with a fake name to use on the internet. The name Abby has become so me that if someone were to call me it in real life I would answer to it. Everyone all over the internet knows me as Abby and for the most part I am okay with that, but I have discovered that as I get older the internet is not quite as spooky as it once was when I was younger lol. So that is how I got the name Abby quilts! |
Mine is the middle names of my 2 daughters- Jill and Jo!
|
Clem was my hubby's nickname for me from way back when we were in high school. I loved the Red Skelton character Clem Kadellehopper(?), and did a pretty good imitation of him saying",there goes a flock of them. We got married in 55.
|
Sue is my middle name and I LOVE to quilt.
|
The people I worked with about 12 years ago all started their families it seemed like at the same time. As it turned out the pharmacist I worked with calling me grammiepamie. She wanted me to start a daycare and take care of everyone's babies. Needless to say I retired 3 years ago without starting a daycare but the nickname stuck.

First, I want to say I love this post. All the names are so fun. Mine is boring, my nickname for Margaret (which I don't like) and first initial of my last name.
|
When we retired in 2001, we bought a farm in the small community of Dunster, BC, Canada. It was quite a move - from Southern California (San Diego) - and we had never lived on a farm before, but we absolutely loved it. We moved to Oregon in 2005, but I still miss Dunster, BC.
