What's currently on your design wall?

Hi,
Here's what's on mine...it's called the "So Many Scraps" quilt. I got the pattern when I visited Tennessee several years ago and have worked on it on and off since. It's getting closer! I put it on the design wall last night to make sure I have enough blocks and triangles...and I do! So now I'm taking them down a few at a time to trim then will put them back up and play around with color and such before sewing them together. I'm really looking forward to getting it done! The original quilt was done with the dark green small triangles and muslin. I opted for dark blue and yellow. Please ignore the ripple...I have something plugged in there under the design wall. The lighting was bad...the yellow is really very pale... Diannia |
Nothing on my design wall right now. Your quilt top is going to be great!

I'm doing a wall hanging size attic windows. The "windows" show beach and rocks, water and sky. The top is together except for the border (woodgrain). I'm going to turn it into a roman shade with the "warm window" insulated backing. It's a gift for my sister who had to move away from the coast to live closer to medical care for her husband. The shade will cover a very cold window that looks out into her carport.

Oh Skyangel what a special gift! I'm sure she will love it for years to come...

Love it, and your brave with all those bias cuts. I'm not that brave I usually cringe at on point settings, they give me fits!

I really want a design wall, but I don't have the room for one yet. I am working on a quilt for a baby shower, Mother is having a boy.
|
Love the redbird SC!!!

My design wall is bare. The Blue Verona quilt needs a back so I can pin it together. A top a friend asked us to quilt for her is on the pinning table. The appliqued baby quilt is being hand quilted. That's enough projects for now. Love what ya'll are doing!

Have you ever started a quilt and thought oh my, what did I get myself into? Well I have one on my design wall now. The pattern is called Madeline by Brambleberry Cottage Quilts. Im using Northcotts Fabric called Belle Provence. It will finish at 84x100. It consists of 30 twelve in. blocks, and there are 49 pieces in each block, 7 of which are fussy cut, and its set on the diagonal, then theres a sawtooth border, than 2 additional borders. Very labor intensive! Gish Im wore out just writing about it!! LOL
|
I have a design floor and right now there is a four square made with my husband's dress shirts.
|
nothing at the moment, wanted to start new quilt but can not quite decide which one
|
I am working on a strip pieced king size quilt but I don't have enough blocks for the design wall stage. It's kind of on hold til I finish a Jinny Beyer DA VINCI kit for my grandson's HS graduation this year. I'm really going to have to push to get it done in between doing long arm quilting.
|
I can't show you right now.
If I did......... I would have to confiscate all of your seam rippers and the 1/4" foot off your machines. Only thing I can say is I have to start sewing again tomorrow after we get home from the DMV. |

This is on my wall. Been working on it off and on for about 4 months. Nine more blocks to go, then the border once I decide what the border is going to be.
|
For the first time in a long time - nothing! It feels good!
|
Nothing right just took quilt off frame last night have to bind!
|
I've still got Santa on the design wall, the sides are done bargello & 3 of them are done so far. Then putthe outer border on & quilt it. I should have it done by Christmas! LOL Also have 2 scrappy mystery quilts on the other wall that need to be finished. A QOV on the longarm that's 2/3 done & a wholecloth on the dining room table still being worked on for design. I think I have enough to keep me occupied!!
|
Have my new daughter in law's lap quilt up - its in her shabby chic colors and appliqued flowers are being added, and need to get the borders on it tomorrow night. Her birthday is 2/12 so I have to get it done this weekend to get it into the mail. Then, need to get going on the 2 new granddaughters quilts - their birthdays are April and May.

NOTHING right now AND IT'S DRIVING ME CRAZY!!!!!. I have three quilts in mind to do, but can't make up my mind what I want to do. I really want to do the eldon from laundry basket, but it looks like I will have to get a pattern for that one. Love your quilt. Syl

How striking! How big are your blocks?
|
I just took off a Jack o Lantern wall hanging. Binding it now. I'll be ready for next Halloween!
|
I am winging a row by row wallhanging. so i have a row of houses, sunshine star, flowers done. trying to decide what will be another row. waiting for it to tell me the next step. just using my scraps up and my background is cream muslim. Hahaha I did my first sunshine star, boy it was a learning process. only took me 6 hours LOL. At least the others were easier. there is 5 of each item.
|
There is not a single thread on my design wall. Just sent three tops off to the longarmer... So its cleanup time.
|
I had a temporary design wall, but took it down in anticipation of putting up a permanent one. DH bought the insulation boards, now I just have to find time to go pick out some good flannel. Between learning to use my new long arm and making curtains and bedding for my new grandchild to be, I can't seem to get a project started. Not to mention I have 11 quilt tops that I've been saving to quilt on my long arm.
But oh, to have such problems... I love being a quilter. |
This is what's on my design wall.

On my design wall is an unfinished swap group and also a curtain to hide my fabric stash made up of orphan blocks. Maybe this weekend, if I am lucky I will get at least the curtain done! |

I find it very difficult to decide how to make a square quilt, rectangular.... I am no expert but what I am doing is adding a large row or two, at the top and bottom of that square made of the same block pattern than the original block pattern. As the center of my quilt is almost the size of the width of the bed, my added rows, lengthwise, meet the size of the quilt I want to make. Of course it doesn't look like the original pattern anymore but that the best solution I found suitable for me... Then, I sew a 1 or 2 inches contrasting border to frame it all before I work on a border that will drop on each side of the whole quilt. I don't know if I am clear and if I make myself understood I know the dilemma of making a square quilt become rectangular and it is a long thinking process. Good luck and show us what you come up with! Thanks qltgrose, I assure you that those triangles were even flying in my dreams... all those points. |

Here is my design wall. This was a UFO (1" log cabins that are wonky), after many tries, I decided to put together "quad blocks) and use a 1.5" border on each quad and square off to a 9" block. I love the UFO now. The remaining quads are ready to be put together, 20 quads in all. I will lay out the quad colors in a light/dark pattern I think when they are all done
