lol @ kimby. It must be 2011's list.
|
My Anniversary Sampler is coming along faster than I had planned. All 25 blocks are done. I went and bought the sashing, cornerstone, and stop border fabric today. Next weekend, I will get those cut and organized so I can start the top assembly. I want the top done by the middle of April so I can get it basted and into my frame. WOOOOHOOOO!! I love being ahead of myself.
Bought some coordinating prints for a little D9P I have planned for my neighbor/friend's son. Last year, I made her daughter a 9 patch of 9 patches out of apholstery fabric. He's getting a race car quilt. I'm ready to start piecing that as soon as my big project is in the frame. I do have to add 1 project to this year. In honor of the 100th year of boy scout and the great fabric collections, I have planned out a wall hanging for my boys' pack master. It will be a signature quilt. I have all the signature pieces and sashing pieces. I need to go online, bite the 9 buck a yard bullet, and get a couple yards of the scout fabric. I hate paying 9 bucks a yard, but I'm only using 2 of the fabrics for a small project, so it's worth it. Gotta keep going going going! I dedicate every weekend to quilting. I do it around my laundry, housework and any extra dishes. I didn't get anything done this weekend but the purchase of fabric, but making 6 blocks a weekend for a while, I think I'm due a quiet weekend. Life happens to much during the week..... |
I haven't been able to keep up with this thread very well this year!
I have been very busy, but also, this is the second time I have been board-less...well, I am on DD's computer, so I'm actually 'computer-less' at home. As it is, I stay on hers longer than is probably polite. Right now she is cutting out a blouse, I just helped her with altering the pattern. I have gotten my sew-cave very clean and organized this year...but do still need to paint some shelves  I have started a tote, worked on a large utility quilt for my bed, made a few small things for grandbaby, tons of housework and spring cleaning, which is not quiliting, but will help me get to my quilting...currently in the beginnings of a "shh!" project, and will be on another one very soon ;) Got a baby quilt just waiting to be pieced together, and a block calling to me. My one goal this year was to do more than 09...so far...it seems I am very good at making more work for myself and getting behinder, lol! I guess eventually with a lot of persistence, things will get finished and look like i have done something! I just keep trying :XD: hugs my buds :-D |
Well...I had a 3 week rest from my sampler because my machine went down and went in the shop. I will never go without a machine again...now I have to find a trusty backup.
Wow I cannot believe I bought all that sashing that long ago. I ended up cutting incorrectly so I had to go to 3 different shops to get enough to finish. I purposely bought extra material in case I made a mistake cutting...I made a LOT of sashing...1/2 of it 1 1/2 inches too short. It is proof that not only should I not sew when tired, I shouldn't cut either apparently. But all is well. The top is done and needs the stop border. I followed a friends idea and used material from the sampler for the sashing and cornerstones....I can't say I'm exceedingly pleased with it..but it's growing on me. Needs a dark stop border so your eyes stop moving. I have all the pieces cut out and all the signature squares made for the boy scout commemorative wall hanging. I will be assembling the little thing this weekend and will get it finished by next weekend for the campout. I'm so glad it's small!!! I'm almost ready to get the Anniversary Sampler in the frame for hand quilting and the wallhanging will be finished by this time next week. So far so good...can't guarantee I'll get much sleep...but sleep is overrated in a quilter's home. |
well, I'm not going to say sleep is overrated, lol, bc when I don't get it...oh brother!
But I will say it can be elusive ;) well, sounds like you've been busy M! Hope your enjoying a beautiful Mother's Day! hugs! :-D |
Wallhanging top pieced and bordered. Backing made (top was 4 inches bigger...I was irritated) and quilting done. I don't know if I'm going to add anything to it or not. Pictures taken, just need to bind it. Good thing it's small so I can get it done by Friday!
I gotta post the pics a little later on. Getting a new kitchen floor tomorrow so I had to clean top of washer/dryer, refridgerator, all the counters and move my table AND my pantry. I'm glad I got the quilting done this morning! |
well, I stay busy, but I am so sporadic about everything. I don't just sit down at sewing machine and work until something is finished. I did when my kids were growing up
I am 3/4 of the way finished with a tote bag. Still have a block waiting to be pressed on and stitched down. A w.h. waiting for it's binding. So close to being done! Working on that shh! project. Lots to do there. Got some bright pink fabric with bright green frogs all starched and pressed waiting for me to transform it into a little pair of shorts and applique on a top for grandbaby :-D . Made DH mad. Got a Boston block all cut and units pieced, just waiting to be stitched together and then sewn on tote for a nice decorative look. I like it :-D I used an upholstery fabric for the tote that is just not really me...don't ask why I persevered with it. i have this goofy thing about using all my fabrics and not treating some like orphans or something. So it's not my favorite, it's very sturdy and I dressed it up a bit. It's growing on me. That's all I can think of right now, and of course that doesn't take into account all the housework etc. that has been done this week. Let's keep plowing ahead. Who knows, I may actually get more done this year, if I just keep at it  |
To finish a lot of the projects I started last year: Finish....
* quilting my quilt with the avatar block in it for my brass bed. Almost done. * the other 3 quarters of Lucinda's Window. * layering and quilting the Pam Bono "Out of Darkness" for my other daughter. Really wish I could afford to have that one sent out! * getting fabric and patterns for my 2 granddaughters and for my "guest" room. * appliqueing my "sleeping cats" wall hanging. * the Quilter's World freezer paper pieced hanging. * cleaning my house a least once! |
Let's see I have 10 twin size quilts to make, I'm finishing the one I started when I first came on this board. THEN I'll get to play with my Geishas!!
|
I'm jumping in the middle! This is the first time I've seen this thread and it's just my style. I love lists and checking them off! For 2010,
1. finish new baby granddaughter quilt. She's due 2 weeks and I'm flying out in 12 days. Only have binding to stitch on, so I'll get it done. 2. get my string quilt to quilter and then begin handquilting it afterwards 3. finish my husband's log cabin, just have a little MQ left then binding 4. finish my blue batik quilt 5. keep up with block swap here on the board 6. finish Janene's quilt, top is done right now 7. finish Lone Star, top is about halfway done 8. start red snowball quilt while back helping my daughter with new baby 9. finish redwork quilt (blocks all made) 10. finish christmas quilt (top is done) 11. start Prairie quilt I'm fortunate because in 9 days I will be free for nine weeks. I'm a teacher and love that summer break to quilt, quilt, quilt! |
Now, keep in mind, you'll need to bookmark this thread. We did it for 2009 too. Then, whoever gets the first project done on their list can start a thread in the pictures section called "What's Next for 2010 in Pictures."
That way we can see finished pictures in the pictures category and keep track of our lists in this thread. We are really good at keeping eachother going. My boy scout wallhanging is quilted, bound and presented. I'm waiting on an email of some pictures with the recipient and I and then I'll be able to post! WOOOHOOO!!! 1 down, a bunch to go! |
Lol...one down a bunch to go...I'll say
But my sweetie pie, (grandbaby), loves to tell Nana...slow and steady wins the race. She saw it on Noggin. I wrote it and put by my machine, so I think of the meaning and of her ;) |
I just finished one of the quilts on my list, so I started the thread in pictures: What's Next for 2010 in Pictures!
Can't wait to see everyone else's pictures! On to the next project for me... |
I posted pics of the boy scout quilt on the What's Next for 2010 pics thread. Quilting Nonnie started the thread for us:
http://www.quiltingboard.com/t-46877-1.htm |
WOW you ladies are making progress on your lists, only 3 were on mine and i have worked on none of them yet... i better get off the puter and get with it :) But i don't want to miss anything :)
|
I put the last borders on the anniversary quilt this past weekend. This coming weekend, I'll be buying the flannel backing fabric. Then, my little stitching club is going to get together on one extra night so we can get it basted. There is no way I can get it basted by myself. Then it'll be in the frame for probably 6 months before I get it quilted...but our anniversary isn't until December, so while I'm not ahead of schedule anymore, I'm not pressed for time either.
I've got the workings of a table runner in my head....I needed to add that to the list. Coworker of mine admires my work, but she's helped me out with my resume and has been a great asset to me at work, so she's definitely deserving of a project. Then, two toddler size quilts are next for my neighbor's children. I made one for one of her kids last fall or the fall before, so now I need to make 3 more for the other kids. At least it'll be fun to make! I hope to get started on those as soon as this big one is in the frame. I'll post pics on our pics thread as well as the Anniversary thread as soon as I get them. |
Wow, I can't believe I had the top without borders done so long ago....I still don't have the backing fabric. I'm hoping to get that today. I posted the pictures for the completed top with borders on the anniversary sampler thread.
You can find it here with all the pics of the blocks and everything. http://www.quiltingboard.com/t-36285-1.htm |
Let's see, my summer vacation is almost half over...I've posted my granddaughter's quilt.
#2 on my list: getting my string quilt to the quilter--DONE!!!! yay! #4: finish my blue batik: it's finished and also at the quilter's. #8 was to start the red snowball quilt while back helping my daughter with the new baby. I started it. Got it cut out and even sewed a few seams. My daughter didn't nap much and baby had colic...less time to sew than I thought! But my goal was to START it, and I did that! #9 I won't be able to finish. I wanted to finish my redwork quilt. I thought I had all the blocks done, but when I counted and figured I realized I needed 6 more blocks, so I'm embroidering the first of the six. I'm doing better than I thought I would... |
Ah! Time for a progress report.
I find I am often distracted by other things. The anniversary quilt top is done, but not sandwiched to quilt. My DH has agreed to help me schedule time for this. (Mostly, he helps me say 'no' to other requests! I love him for it.) The wedding dress - we have decided on a pattern (this involved a lot of trying on existing dresses and choosing a style, etc.), purchased the fabric, and I am at the point of making a mock-up to be sure it will fit. (I always have to alter some part of a pattern for this child. Oh, to have her problem of skinny hips!) The wedding quilt - Fabric is collected. In September, she and I will spend a weekend together to cut out pieces for it. So I am behind on these goals. ( I have made a quilt for my other daughter in the meantime. She needed a 'hug' to take to college, instead of her baby blanket. She was hiding the baby blanket in her pillow case.) Someday I will learn to set goals and work single-mindedly toward them. But where is the fun in that?! |
Goal is to make at least one project from every book/mag I have. Five down and too scared to count how many I have left. Guess I'll live to be at least 210!

I just found this thread but I like the idea. My list of stuff to do changes almost as often as seeing a new idea. I do have several on my list to finish asap so I can start Christmas projects.
I hope you do this next year. I might try keeping track of all I do and don't get done. |

Finish my swap partners quilts/table runner.
Start and complete the Watermelon quilt kit I bought a month ago. Complete my DD's quilt even though she says she has changed her mind about the fabric after I spent $200.00 on fabric she picked out. Oh well, If she doesn't want it, I like it enough I will keep it. Finish 1 dozen little dresses for Africa. Finish 1 dozen pillowcases for the pillowcase challenge. Get my dadburn digital camera fixed so I can take pictures of my completed projects! G |

Well...you all saw the big sampler top is finished....I'm still trying to fenagle the flannel for the backing. It's going to be August before I can possibly get it basted....I am not happy.
I cut all the pieces for the Sudoku quilt for the neighbor girl. I cut all the strips needed for her brother's D9P, but I'm one strip short of being able to piece it...gotta go to walmart this weekend. UGH!!! I did pick some patterns for the table runners that I want to make...does that count as progress? |

Sorta strange-one place I make pillowcases from scratch and the other I buy them and cut up and sew. Go figure.

Where has 2010 gone? It's almost October already!
Progress Report time! Here was my list for this year: 1. Finish the 3 D9P's for my boys. 2. Make 2 small quilts for sibling of quilt recipient. 3. Focus quilt for this year is a 25 block sampler quilt for my wedding anniversary. This year we will be married 10 years. We never received a wedding quilt and I'd love to make one just for us. The blocks are picked, many triangle blocks, YIKES!, but with perseverance I can do it. 4. Twin size quilt for my ill friend. She asked, in lieu of a wheelchair quilt or hospital bed quilt, if I would make her infant on a blanket he can take to college since she knows she won't be able to do it for him. I agreed, but I want to make her a hospice quilt anyway. I finished the 3 D9P's in January and the boys love them and have used them all year. I am almost half way done hand quilting the blocks on my 25 block sampler. I hope to have as much of the sashing done as possible before D-Day (12.08.10) The two little quilts for neighbor/friend's kids, one is a patriotic Soduku and the other a race car D9P. Both in piecing stages. All strips cut. 4 of the 9 blocks for patriotic are done. All the strips for D9P cut and sewn, and cross cut. Assembling 9 patches now. Probably won't be done in time for Christmas. I'm going to hold off on tablerunners until next year. I really need to bite the bullet and just buy a tablerunner book. I've spent so many hours pouring over all my freebie patterns just to find one that has tablerunner measurements...none of them do. I have one magazine that highlights tablerunners and using those strips you buy, boli pops, noodles, jelly rolls etc. I want to make some table runners out of that. My friend's quilts. I want all 3 of the kids to get a blanket. My friend is doing amazingly well and could have years left, so I'm no longer in a rush to get those quilts done. My 9 year old volunteered me to make two baby quilts for his expecting teachers this year...this year is 2010-2011...definitely not for 2010. How are you all doing? Life really got in the way for me this year. I want to see your updates! |
It took me forty forevers to remember to look for this thread!!!
I lost my computer in the spring and lost a lot of stuff with it. It's been a crazy year and I haven't gotten as many projects finished as I would have liked, but I have done a lot of things. I have also had many ups and downs with health, which is kind of the 'way' with this mouse. I'm about to finish a tote bag if I get off the computer. I'm at DD's. We decided not to buy another one for now, so I could get more quilting done, lol! Well, I'm a trying! ;) |
Oh Mousie, I remember once, was it last year? You wouldn't let me beat myself up over things I didn't get done. Our lists are just suggestions and subject to change remember?
I recently branched into a sewing project or two. I'm still quilting my anniversary sampler, though we are only 7 weeks out from d-day. I'm making one of the little sodukus and a D9P for the neighbor kids as were on my list, but I won't make it to table runners this year. Also, my older son has 2 teachers and both are expecting babies, one this month, one in December. He's begged me to do something for them. Will be difficult as they both want to be surprised, so I'll have to throw the quilts together for them after their little bundles of joy arrive. So far, I don't have a big project planned for next year, so maybe all small ones....I haven't thought that far ahead yet. Glad you are back now. I wish you happy stitching! |
I agree with mpeters, mousie! I had all these things on my list and have gotten a few done. Then a group on the board decided to do the Farmer's Wife sampler and I'm all tied up with that. Between my block swaps and Farmer's Wife, it's all I can handle now. The rest of my list will probably not be done until Farmer's Wife is done!
I sometimes look at my list and wish I could do those and the Farmer's Wife, but in the end it's the joy of quilting that takes precedence, not the number of quilts or list items I finish! |
Hi all,
I'm dragging my hiny, but I made it back here, finally. I need the email notice to keep me on track, lol! Well, I'm about to finish up a shh! project, and it's not the same one I mentioned a while back. I've made something for two different ppl and wonder if one of them...if the person will still enjoy it, as we don't have time to talk as much as we used to,...but she is a quilter, and I still feel the same, so when I get that last little bit done, it will be winging it's way to her house. My other shh! project is bigger and I had tons of help with it, and I really excited about it. Thing is, I am going to have to take up biting my nails or something, cuz doc changed my thyroid dose and now I'm feeling queasy....when does the mouse start to win? sounds more like whine! It just makes it hard to knuckle down, buckle down and do it, do it, do it! Sitting here is one thing, moving around and thinking, focusing, that's a whole nother animal, lol! Wish me luck and some prayers. I could use them and I'll do the same. We got holly-days coming neighbors! :XD: |
My kids tell me about the memory challenged gal from Finding Nemo. She says....just keep swimming just keep swimming. How about this....just keep going just keep going just keep going. Whether it's stitching, quilting, living, whatever Mousie, just keep going! I don't think I'll be able to get my anniversary sampler done on time. I'm pretty down about it.
|
mpeters1200, just keep sewing, just keep sewing...
One of my goals is to finish an anniversary quilt. It was started for my parents' 60th anniversary. This year they celebrated 67 years. (So I did not know what I was starting at the time. It has mushroomed... And I am frightened by one of the parts I want to include - pictures on fabric.) I just pray they will both be with us when I present it - current goal is their 68th anniversary. |
Wow Quiltmom that's awesome. I'm hopefully going to finish my current masterpiece by my anniversary. Honestly, it's the hardest and most daunting project I've ever made. It's got about 200.00 worth of materials and notions into it and over 350 hours. 250 so far, just in the quilting of it! I would have never made it this far if it wasn't for posting periodic updates on this board.
There's a thread of it here, complete with pics, pics of the completed top on page 3. http://www.quiltingboard.com/t-36285-1.htm Just keep going...you'll get there. I've been collecting animal prints for years to someday make a quilt for our bed....took having a 10th anniversary to make a quilt for our bed...not animal prints either. I'm still collecting them. Hopefully not a someday quilt for long. Oh, and to everyone following our 2010 thread, my eldest son has two teachers that both happen to have babies. One in October (a girl) and one in December (she wants to be surprised). So, quilts for them got added to the list per the begging of my son, who never asks me to do anything. Threw a D9P together last weekend, hoping to have pics of that up soon. Probably a Sodoku for the second one because the D9P was a headache. So, the little neighbor kid quilts got pushed back, but at least they are started!! |
What a great project for your anniversary! You're making progress. I'll keep at mine, spurred on by yours!
|
I'm trying to figure out lighting and how to fenagle this queen size beast in the right light to show the stitching. I might just show pics of some of the blocks again so you can see the quilt lines from my chalk and pen markings....that may be the only way to do it on some of these blocks.
|
my list for 2011~
a thinking outside the blocks quilt for my niece in january. a Paint Chip challenge quilt (from this board) with a June 15th deadline. several charity quilt tops that need quilting. a purse (pattern coming any day now via the mail). Want to make a d4p and a pinwheel d4p. A darling tree quilt that I have a pattern for. |
