Don't sweat it...........they're very easy to do. As others have said, just take your time, remember to measure 2 times at least before you cut and enjoy the process. I've made several over the years and will be making 3 for my sewing room this year.

quiltingfan 12-26-2010 06:28 AM

I am bound and determined to finish my grandmothers quilt for my dad's b day Jan 11th. This is the same one that I have asked and recieved some really nice advice. So I am going to FM quilt it this week. Yes I said this week. We will be snowed in today and tomorrow. My husband has a heart procedure that is going to take a day and then a week of recovering so we will be sticking close to the house. I figured that will be a good time to set aside to finish it.
then after that a friend wants me to make a wall hanging for her daughter. I told her 50 and she said she will pay me 100. I am so excited. Then I have a quilt for a fund raiser. Last year that one made 375.00 The quilt for my son and I do not know what else I will be able to fit in before we move. If I get those done I will be hapy. OH yes, I need to finish my other grandmothers quilt for my mom's b day in May. Then that will be all. I am tired just thinking about it.

Got to be disciplined first to clean out the pantry, then the office and organized my jewlery makings. Then it is on to quilting 3 king-size patriotic quilts and would like to piece an oriental one and one done in African prints. That should keep me busy oh and I forgot DH and I are going to lose WT!

I can't wait to get started on some quilting project, because my kids got me a new digital camera. I just got the software installed on the computer and took a couple pictures of the dogs to see if I could download them. Yea!!! It worked. Now I can't wait to make something so I can show it to you guys with the new camera.

I'm going to start by making myself something. I made a bunch of potholders for family. Now I want some. I used the silver(ironing board material), insuli-brite, and batting. I think they can serve as a potholder and a hot mat. Need to make a birthday present for a friend. Then upward and onward ......

Go for it! I've made Roman shades and measure, measure, measure. That is the key. Show us when you are finished.
Good Luck

cjmat 12-26-2010 09:17 AM

I'm not much into seasonal projects except for Christmas but I've got a baby quilt that I'll be hand-quilting. I've also got fabric on the way to start a couple of McKenna Ryan wall quilts that I bought patterns for a couple years back.

sew wishful 12-26-2010 09:24 AM

I will continue down the list of grandkids quilts..7 down, 7 to go. GD has gone into labor today so there will be a GGD soon, but will wait a bit to make hers.

Dianne1 12-26-2010 09:25 AM

I am setting up a quilting calendar, with dates, names, type of quilted project to make. However, I am on board for a super king for in-laws, baby quilt for grandaughter this happened on Xmas day. Looks like I wont have time to start my quilt calendar. I am in the hole before the new year even starts, whops forgot about a grandson who needs his quilted shirt by this Friday. So how was your holiday?

Joeysnana 12-26-2010 09:57 AM

I got an embroidery machine for Christmas and will be incorporating embroidery blocks into a pinwheel quilt for my GD. I also plan on making fence rail ann warm wishes quilts, Valentine's Day pillowcases, placemats, and runners..... better get cracking!!

mar32428 12-26-2010 10:23 AM

I have really cut my schedule for next year. Want to do some serious sewing. Several ASG members have started an embroidery club. I REALLY want to get into that and finally upgrade my skills and knowledge. Also, thread painting, landscape and pictorial wall hangings. I need to update my wardrobe.

pignwdw 12-26-2010 10:48 AM

I will be gathering material for the quilt I want to work on at my guild's retreat in mid January. Then I will supervise my office colleagues in making of individual blocks, I will put them together and quilt or tie the finished quilt to hang in our office. I've done this twice before but now we've had staff changes and my boss asked me if I would do another one. Luckily he pays me for the fabric and some of my actual time to piece and quilt.

Pat P 12-26-2010 12:09 PM

Want to see a picture of that silk quilt when done!!

QuiltinginSD 12-26-2010 12:46 PM

I bought some L'amour fabric a few weeks ago, so I'll be making a Valentine's quilt or wall hanging of some sort. Hopefully I can finish it by then!

Patchworkmarion 12-26-2010 12:51 PM

Same every year.Finish my UFO's

theresa.redington 12-26-2010 03:43 PM

What's next for me is finish the Christmas gifts that I didn't finish........ Then snowmen or hearts sound good to me or start finding a pattern for my grandson's quilt (fish/fishing). That's what is on my list.

dap2762 12-26-2010 04:11 PM

My niece just made a quilt with her son's baby clothes and it was so cute. She appliqued the t-shirts, onesie's, sleepers, pants onto big squares while they were still whole, she didn't cut them up

MerryQuilter 12-26-2010 04:12 PM

First the Big New Years clean!

But they are not mine to give away so I guess I will be cutting them up. I will probably just make a crazy quilt with them. I hope she likes it.

I've always wanted to try making Roman shades. Keep the QB informed on how your project is coming along. I might get brave too and try them.

grandme26 12-26-2010 04:47 PM

As soon as I compete a heart quilt for my granddaughter I will be starting on a rocket ship quilt for my 5 yr old grandson. Also looking at patterns and ideas for my 4 yr old GS who likes balls or anything round.
Think I found the pattern today. Then I have two older grandsons, 10 and almost 14, who are into sports big time. The 10 year old wants a baseball oriented quilt. Don't know what I will do for the 14 yr old yet. I also have an 18 yr old GS and have no idea what to make for him. Lots of work ahead.

Craftybear steered us to this gal's site and from there I saw she had a video for what she calls "covers," but which are the easiest Roman shades I've ever seen done. You might want to take a look at:

Just catch up with UFO's and start a couple of quilts I want to make. I want to do dresden plate, scrappy quilt and OBW. There are a few more patterns I want to try but these are the main ones.

Peggybluebird 12-26-2010 05:32 PM

Even though I will be moving in the summer, and have LOTS of packing and organizing to do in preparation for that, I will have to quilt a bit in the months between now and summer because quilting feeds my soul. I have a dear friend who is expecting her second child in Feb, so I need to make something for that wee babe. I am thinking ahead to the new wall hangings and quilts that will be needed in my new home! Just today I made a Christmas wall hanging for me new home! Retirement comes with this move so I can hardly wait to have time to do all the quilting I have ever wanted to do!

Annz 12-26-2010 06:25 PM

anything that is requested and the projects I am already working on.

honeydew 12-26-2010 06:31 PM

I will be making DIL a backpack, finish up GD quilt, make a baby quilt, try to make placemat for everyone who will attend a tea we have at church in May and finally a quilt for a house where missionary will stay when they come to town. Hopefully I get this all done by the end of May.

Tennessee Suzi 12-26-2010 08:14 PM

You did it!! I have been reading the board to try and decide what to do next. And, that is what I really need...potholders! I have the perfect fabric for me (cats). I made dolphin potholders for our DIL and she was really happy to get them. Thanks so much for the idea! Righ now I am just a blurr.

fontmomma 12-27-2010 09:59 AM

Finished baby things, so a polar fleece scarf is next. I bought a circle pattern fro Clotilda to make a circle scarf from polar fleece. It can be made from fabric also.
