Now that Christmas is over...what is next on your agenda? Anyone thinking Hearts for Valentines, Bunnys for Easter?? I'm not sure yet, I have some Butterfly fabric and Oriental prints I'd like to use.

Pillowcases for Valentine's Day, St. Patrick's Day & Easter. I'll make some for my husband and me & our grandson.
My sister sent me fabric, jelly roll & a pattern for a quilt. I'll be starting that shortly, too. |
I plan to make tube pillow cases as gifts for friends and family next year. Other than my quilting family here on the board, I do not know anyone personally who quilts so my gift will be a unique one.
You guys do not know the impact you have had on my life. This board is so full of love and friendship that it just fills my heart everytime I sign on. God bless and Merry Christmas. |
I will FINALLY tackle those roman shades I have been too scared to do for the spare room. Now that the curtain is covering the closet - why not attempt the shades? What's the worst that could happen? (Don't answer that).
Have so many projects. One is to make window coverings for my sewing room and of course many new patterns I haven't tried for quilts I want to make.
I have promised my oldest DD I would make a Sun Bonnet Sue quilt for her. I hope to try it soon. I have never done applique and it makes me nervous.
But I need to make DD and SIL curtains for their apartment. They were approved for housing help (Thank you, dear Lord!)and now have a 3 bedroom apartment to move into!!!! We will be going to get measurments later today. Lots of big windows to cover. Thankfully I have large box of Johne Deere fabric already set aside for her kitchen and Gabe's room. |
I need to make a bow tucks purse for my DD her b-day is Jan 6th. I'm almost too scared to try it.
Just found out that DS best friend is expecting twin girls in the Spring so that means new quilts. My great-nephew has moved up to his "big boy" bed so he needs a grown up quilt. But first I have to shovel out the sewing room and rearrange it.

I'll answer that..so you'll do it all wrong and get mad at yourself. So what? Then you'll take it apart, look at it and then put it together correctly and be proud of yourself. It may take more than one time, but WE LEARN FROM OUR MISTAKES. Keep reminding yourself about that, we learn and then go on. Share with us when you do get them made, I know they will be in good taste and nicely finished. |
Really have no choice but to start on our guild challenge quilt - due in February! So have a whole month to work on it - but we (I) could have started last March when we decided on the topic!
Oh yes, I'm the great procrastinator! |
I plan to finish the downy quilts I have started and hopefully quilt a few tops. I'll piece new tops in the meantime, I'm sure.
Nothing themed here. I'm not a "theme-y" kind of decorator. A Christmas tree, stockings and some lights are the only kind of "holiday" decor that ever goes up in my house. I have 6 quilts definitely planned for the next year, 1 more that I may or may not be doing as a commissioned quilt, and tentative plans for another, but nothing solid. I do plan to make stockings for my family in 2011, though.

I will be making a couple of quilted guitar straps for my brother's birthday at the end of January. And have a couple of art quilts I need to finish.

Well, a friend of my daughter's has asked me to make a couple of small quilts for her two boys out of their old and outgrown baby clothes. Do you know how hard it is to cut up baby clothes? I keep looking at some of the small jeans and pants and thinking, Oh, what a shame. Some other little girl or boy could be getting good use out of these. But they are not mine to give away so I guess I will be cutting them up. I will probably just make a crazy quilt with them. I hope she likes it.

You will do fine with the roman shades. They are really quite simple. Just take one step at the time. Enjoy the process, you will definitely enjoy the results. Just measure carefully and cut accurately. Good luck and post pics when you finish them.

Starting to look more at "Springy" fabrics.
My DD's birthday is on Valentine's Day so I'm going to make something for her. Haven't made up my mind yet what it will be :)

My First Project is to CLEAN my sewing area!!!!!!!!!! It is filled with fabric, boxes, decorations and stacks of books. Then i plan on a sewing marathon and finish some of my UFO pile. Or maybe start a new one.....you never know

I will be starting my son's graduation quilt. He already graduated (from ASU). I just flat ran out of time. He got his degree in Film Production and I have a pattern that has film strip on it that you can actually put pics in, so I will use some of the photo's of him actually filming and some of his films. Cant wait to get it done, but I want it perfect, so I will take my time.
First thing for 2011 is to finish the Christmas things i didn't get done BEFORE Christmas.
I want to make quilts for my 3 DGS's and I need to make one for my mother and I am going to start one for my ex MIL for her 90th Bday. I also need to finish my batik blocks for the batik block swap and then there are some more bow tucks to make. Then I am sure I will start a bunch of others with some really cute patterns I got at a show I went to a couple of moths ago and some others I just got. The list is endless but since I am not working right now I have lots of time to quilt. First I have to clean up my sewing area (that spread to 2 rooms while getting this years' stuff done because I wouldn't be able to find anything to get started right now. LOL
I'll be finishing a baby quilt for my niece's daughter and then I'll be starting a Christening quilt for my new granddaughter who will be born in March.
UFO's, next years Christmas gifts & a couple of quilts in the planning stages.
My youngest has a stash of fabric she bought for quilts (I get to make them). I'll start them after the new year.
Will finish my irish chain hand piecing and then hand quilt it thru the year. I will also be moving out of home I have lived in the 23 years, moving in with Son, he is going to build me a small home on his property. So everything will be stored except for the irish chain for a few months. I told him I will need one large open room, bedroom and bath. Can't wait to see what he will design. This home I'm in now with 10 acres is just too much to handle and have quilting hobbie to, rather quilt than mow or garden.
I need to finish my dh quilt, New Year's present now since I didn't get it done in time for his birthday or Christmas! Then I plan to concentrate on Christmas gifts for 2011 and birthday gifts through out the year. I desperately need a snow day! Ah, the perfect day, can't get to work because I am snowed in with a huge snow storm, hubby out blowing snow ( I am sure he won't mind) and I'm in my sewing room in my pajammies with my hot cocoa and whipped cream playing with my fabric and machines.....I feel quilty kinda posting my dream day, but I might get some uninterrupted time..guess a girl can dream! Don't tell anyone, will ya?
It's hard to say what will turn me on next :)
Baby quilt for a girl at my husband's work, my mother is turning 70 in October 2011 so thought I'd use a lot of my floral collection for a quilt for her, Tshirt quilt for my middle stepson (from his world travels), continue with the never-ending Grandmother's Garden handpiecing project oh and put together a summer quilt using wonky blocks/scraps and random piecings for our queen size bed.

I have a quilt to make for my sons best friend's baby. He became a dad a couple of weeks ago. I have a bit more time as he and his partner have gone to visit family in England for a month. I have the fabric, bought it from e-quilter store - very impressed with the fabric and certainly much cheaper than what I could have got it for here in Australia.
I must finish quilt for my great niece- have done the top. Also have been hand piecing a hexagon quilt in blues for our bed. Colleen |
The quilt depicted in my avatar. It's something I've had in the hopper for a while and now that the Christmas sewing rush is over, it's time to make something for ME!!

Let's just take time to enjoy this Christmas.I don't do any planning till the tree is down,New Year started & fabric order arrives
